Management research topics: Positioning, evolution, alignment with teaching and with job market needs
Management education and research have at least three constituencies: faculty members, the students they teach, and the businesses that hire them. We look at how the research topics published have evolved, and whether they differ by the prestige of the publication. We then assess whether research topics align with teaching and whether research and teaching align with job market needs. This study focuses on the management sub-discipline of Operations Management (OM), where our backgrounds best allow us to interpret results. However, our approach could apply across most disciplines within management. We use bibliometric analysis to track the evolution of research keywords within academic journals. This allows us to track themes, their interaction, and whether their relative popularity varies over time and with journal prestige and ranking. Many studies have found that work published in top-tier journals tends to be more focused on theory and less applied than less elite journals. We then compare the top research topics found to syllabi from a sample of core course of firings in academic business programs to track whether these themes are being taught. We then assess how frequently these top research themes and course topics appear to be sought in the job market.

Digital Academic Entrepreneurship: A structured literature review and avenue for a research agenda
This paper reviews the Academic Entrepreneurship literature according to the emergence of powerful Digital technologies, providing an overview of the state of research and outlining a future research agenda about Digital Academic Entrepreneurship. One hundred and sixty-five journal papers were initially extracted from Scopus and their content was analysed for the paper selection process by two researchers in parallel, plus a third one in case of uncertainty. Finally, fifty-nine papers dealing with digital academic entrepreneurship and published in a variety of academic journals have been analyzed through a content and a bibliometric analysis. Findings show that literature on Digital Academic Entrepreneurship is really scant and dominated by unrelated research. Content analysis provides the emergence of four major research streams: 1) Digital Technologies for Entrepreneurship Education; 2) The “maker space movement” for Academic Entrepreneurship; 3) Digital tech- nologies for discovering entrepreneurial opportunities; 4) Creating entrepreneurial competences in the Digital “University-based” Entrepreneurial ecosystems. The paper presents the first attempt to provide a comprehensive structured literature review of the disruptive role of digital transformation for the Academic Entrepreneurship. Despite the growing literature on Digital Entrepreneurship, this research area is still fragmented and under- theorized. More systematic and holistic studies, considering both the technological, economic and the social aspects of Academic Entrepreneurship are required.

Investigating the emerging COVID-19 research trends in the field of business and management: A bibliometric analysis approach
The COVID-19 pandemic has been labeled as a black swan event that caused a ripple effect on every aspect of human life. Despite the short time span of the pandemic—only four and half months so far—a rather large volume of research pertaining to COVID-19 has been published (107 articles indexed in Scopus and the Web of Science). This article presents the findings of a bibliometric study of COVID-19 literature in the business and management domain to identify current areas of research and propose a way forward. The analysis of the published literature identified four main research themes and 18 sub-themes. The findings and propositions of this study suggest that COVID-19 will be the catalyst of several long- and short-term policy changes and requires the theoretical and empirical attention of researchers. The offered propositions will act as a roadmap to potential research opportunities.

Entrepreneurship in island contexts: A systematic review of the tourism and hospitality literature
Entrepreneurship is vital to the success of tourism and hospitality and the sector makes an important con- tribution to many island economies. Despite this, far too little attention has been paid by researchers to tourism and hospitality entrepreneurship in islands (THEI). This research helps to address this gap through a systematic review of the literature, conducted to provide a platform for further research and to help investigators set their research priorities. Using the Scopus database and the PRISMA technique, a total of 132 articles were included in bibliometric and thematic content analyses. Although there has been an increase in THEI research, this has tended to focus on the Asia-Pacific region. It is suggested that researchers consider redressing this geographical bias and conduct more quantitative and comparative THEI studies. Further opportunities exist to investigate the characteristics and behaviors of island entrepreneurs and the impacts of the industrial and spatial aspects of THEI.

Risk management in SMEs: A systematic literature review and future directions
Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are considered as the backbone of European economics and growth; however, their peculiar features and the limited resources drive them to adopt different tools and methods when compared to large companies. In particular, the approach adopted in SMEs for Risk Management (RM) seems not to be specifically studied and understood. To this extent, the aim of the paper is to outline the development and the state of the art of RM in SMEs, grasping new future research opportunities in this field. By conducting a systematic literature review with bibliometric tools, 61 papers published until the end of 2016 have been selected and analysed. They demonstrate that some RM streams, such as financial RM and Enterprise RM, are among the most studied in the literature. However, a holistic approach is still not diffused nor sufficiently developed in SMEs, even if the types of identified risks are increasing. There are new emerging RM streams. In particular, the relevance of Project RM, Strategic RM, and Supply Chain RM has been increasing, and it pushes researchers and practitioners to deepen the knowledge of the tools and practices that characterise them. New theoretical and practical studies on RM in SMEs will support them in protecting their business and leveraging their business value, taking advantage of the management of different types of risks.© 2019 Elsevier Ltd. Sustainable entrepreneurship: Review of its evolution and new trends
Sustainable entrepreneurship: Review of its evolution and new trends-2020
Entrepreneurship has been recognized as a mechanism with which to generate economic benefits. However, due to the emergence of the concept of sustainable development as a pressing issue that is affecting the current global system, it has been pointed out that entrepreneurship should not be based solely on generating wealth. This brought about the emergence of the sustainable entrepreneurship notion which has received rapidly increasing attention in the last decade. This proliferation of studies has resulted in a lack of a theoretical framework, so this field needs to be analyzed, organized and synthe- tized to bring clarity. The aim of this study is to provide a bibliometric analysis of the status of the field, recognize main topics from existing research and establish future challenges for research. The results based on a sample of 216 articles show that the number of published articles and citations has grown constantly, especially in the last two years. Through bibliometric performance indicators, the most productive and relevant journals, countries, institutions and authors are presented. Moreover, through graphic mapping of strategic diagrams, this study identifies the most significant research tendencies enabling the proposal of several future research directions. The findings of this research can be useful for novel and senior sustainable entrepreneurship researchers, as it contributes to bringing clarity to this field by providing a complementary overview of the evolution and current status, as well as to finding a comprehensive, synthesized and organized summary of the diverse definitions, perspectives and research trends.© 2019 Elsevier Ltd. Forest entrepreneurship: A bibliometric analysis and a discussion about the co-authorship networks of an emerging scientific field
Forest management has been recognized as a significant challenge for various scientific fields, namely because the difficulties in creating employment and economic dynamics in the forestry sector. Actually, it is not easy to generate more returns, in this sector, for the land owners, in addition to the production of wood after several years, depending on the produced species. In general, these difficulties lead to the land abandonment and a large set of associated problems like the forest fires. The main objective of this research is therefore to highlight the main insights from the literature related with the forest entre- preneurship, as supports for the several stakeholders, namely the policymakers, stressing the main gaps in the current scientific literature. In this paper, we have developed a bibliometric analysis through the VOSviewer software, complemented with a literature review, considering 83 articles obtained from the Web of Science (core collection) and Scopus related with the topic of ‘forest’ and ‘entrepreneurship’. We detailed the networks of Journals, Countries, Terms and Authors that have been researching and pub- lishing in the scientific domains of ‘forest entrepreneurship’. Additionally, we studied measures of social networks analysis for each case. This kind of analysis for these topics has a particular novelty, because there is still a significant scarcity of studies addressing these approaches. In fact, searching, for example, in WOS (all databases) for the topics ‘forest’, ‘entrepreneurship’ and ‘bibliometric’ we found zero documents (the same for Scopus platform, considering the article title, abstract and keywords). We concluded that the recent field of ‘forest entrepreneurship’ has allowed a higher level of co-authorships and a lower level of centrality in the citations’ network. We identified, also, that there are some gaps in the scientific literature, namely related with the few multidisciplinary networks outside the forest sciences in these topics. Finally, we observed that these topics are related with authors who, on average, published with 9 co-authors along their career and that authors working on the most generic topic of ‘forest’ tend to have 17 different co-authors, reinforcing the characteristics of ‘forestry entrepreneurship’ as a relevant but emerging scientific field.© 2020 Elsevier Ltd. Employing bibliometric analysis to identify suitable business models for electric cars
Business model architectures in the car industry are gaining increased attention from scientists and policymakers. Although scientific studies have been conducted to address the pressures faced by future business models to change, no research has examined the bibliometric variables in this area. This study aims to fill the gap by conducting a bibliometric analysis of 104 articles on business models for electric cars. The analysis showed that the literature on business models for electric cars is exhaustive, and it focuses on business model decisions for charging technologies, driver services, electricity management, commercial contracts, and plant. China, the United States of America, and Germany have conducted the maximum number of studies on the aforementioned theme. The topic dendrogram identified two evolving strands of discussionsdinnovative technologies and resource optimization and electricity management systems and product life cycle. These findings can guide the formulation of environmen- tally sustainable policies for electric car manufacturing and help car manufacturers to restructure their models.© 2020 The Authors. Knowledge transfer between self-initiated expatriates and their organizations: Research propositions for managing SIEs
Knowledge management is increasingly recognized as a key aspect of international business and management. This paper offers research avenues for investigating knowledge transfer between self-initiated expatriates (SIEs) and their employer organizations. Building on the existing literature on expatriation and knowledge transfer, it offers a series of research propositions. It illustrates the knowledge transfer process in three phases: opportunity seeking, knowledge sharing, and knowledge application. We suggest that different characteristics of SIEs and their organizations can influence the knowledge transfer process. Furthermore, we advance that SIEs may be a source of sustained competitive advantage to their companies. Several implications for future empirical research are also discussed and the paper concludes with practical implications for SIE talent management.
