Lane detector for driver assistance systems
آشکارساز خط برای سیستم های کمک راننده-2021 The challenging problem in the traffic system is lane detection. This Lane detection which attracts the computer vision community’s attention. For computer vision and machine learning techniques, the Lane detection which acts as the multi-feature detection problem. Many machine learning techniques are used for lane detection. Driver support system is one of the most important features in the modern vehicles to ensure the safety of the driver and decrease the vehicle accidents on road. Road Lane detection is the most challenging task and complex tasks now-a-days. Road localization and relative position between vehicle and roads which also includes with this. But in this journal, we propose a new method. Here, an on- board camera to be used which is looking outwards are presented here in this work. This proposed technique which can be used for all types of roads like painted, unpainted, curved, straight roads etc in different weather conditions. No need for cam- era calibration and coordination of the transform, may be any changing illumination situation, shadow effects, various road types. No representation for speed limits. This includes that the system acquires the front view using a camera mounted on the vehicles and detect the Lane by applying the code from the Python Programming process. This proposed system does not require any more information about roads. This system which demonstrates a robust performance for Lane detection.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. “Bed Bugs and Beyond”: An ethnographic analysis of North Americas first women-only supervised drug consumption site
"اشکالات بستر و فراتر از آن": تجزیه و تحلیل مردم نگاری اولین سایت مصرف مواد مخدر تحت نظارت فقط در زنان در آمریکای شمالی-2020 Background: Attention to how women are differentially impacted within harm reduction environments is salient
amidst North Americas overdose crisis. Harm reduction interventions are typically ‘gender-neutral’, thus failing
to address the systemic and everyday racialized and gendered discrimination, stigma, and violence extending
into service settings and limiting some womens access. Such dynamics highlight the significance of North
Americas first low-threshold supervised consumption site exclusively for women (transgender and non-binary
inclusive), SisterSpace, in Vancouver, Canada. This study explores womens lived experiences of this unique
harm reduction intervention.
Methods: Ethnographic research was conducted from May 2017 to June 2018 to explore womens experiences
with SisterSpace in Vancouvers Downtown Eastside, an epicenter of Canadas overdose crisis. Data include more
than 100 hours of ethnographic fieldwork, including unstructured conversations with structurally vulnerable
women who use illegal drugs, and in-depth interviews with 45 women recruited from this site. Data were
analyzed in NVivo by drawing on deductive and inductive approaches.
Findings: The setting (non-institutional), operational policies (no men; inclusive), and environment (diversity of
structurally vulnerable women who use illegal drugs), constituted a space affording participants a temporary reprieve
from some forms of stigma and discrimination, gendered and social violence and drug-related harms, including
overdose. SisterSpace fostered a sense of safety and subjective autonomy (though structurally constrained) among those
often defined as ‘deviant’ and ‘victims’, enabling knowledge-sharing of experiences through a gendered lens.
Conclusion: SisterSpace demonstrates the value and effectiveness of initiatives that engage with socio-structural
factors beyond the often narrow focus of overdose prevention and that account for the complex social relations
that constitute such initiatives. In the context of structural inequities, criminalization, and an overdose crisis,
SisterSpace represents an innovative approach to harm reduction that accounts for situations of gender inequality
not being met by mixed-gender services, with relevance to other settings. Keywords: women | drugs | violence | harm reduction | overdose | supervised consumption sites | Canada |

Testing an ex-ante framework for the evaluation of impact assessment laws: Lessons from Canada and Brazil
آزمایش یک چارچوب پیشین برای ارزیابی تاثیر قوانین : درسهایی از کانادا و برزیل-2020 Scholars have been increasingly investigating legislative changes in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
However, most of the existing evaluation frameworks have been applied to ex-post scenarios, after EIA laws and
respective policies and regulations had been implemented for some time. This article has a twofold objective:
first, to propose an ex-ante framework for the evaluation of proposed EIA laws and, second, to test the application
of the framework to bills C-69 and PL-3729, which target federal-level EIA reform in Canada and Brazil,
respectively. The proposed framework is meant to indicate the extent to which proposed legislative changes
meet 50 good practice criteria, thus providing a more balanced and transparent account of the issues that should
be addressed effectively in the legislative process and in future regulations and guidelines. Results indicate very
contrasting scope and potential effects of proposed legislative changes in the two countries. Brazils bill is essentially
intended to integrate existing regulations into a law that would make EIA faster, simpler and less
frequent. Canadas bill, recently approved by Parliament, includes a new Impact Assessment Act that is expected to
deliver more comprehensive and credible assessments. The ex-ante framework, by exposing how close or distant
proposed EIA regimes are from good practices, can be particularly helpful in lawmaking and regulatory design.
The article finally discusses limitations and highlights future avenues of research. Keywords: Environmental impact assessment (EIA) | Policy change | Lawmaking | Evaluation framework | Brazil | Canada |

Canada, cannabis and the relationship between UN child rights and drug control treaties
کانادا ، حشیش و رابطه بین حقوق کودک سازمان ملل و معاهدات کنترل مواد مخدر-2019 Article 33 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child requires States to take appropriate measures to
protect children from illicit drugs ‘as defined in the relevant international treaties’. Those treaties are the UN
drugs conventions. Following cannabis legalisation, then, can Canada remain in compliance with the CRC while
breaching treaties to which Article 33 expressly refers? This article investigates this question with reference to
the drafting of the CRC and the drugs conventions, how the relationship between the two systems has been
approached, and the practice of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child from 1993-2015. While the CRC
could offer an alternative framework through which to critically assess drug laws and policies, by and large it has
operated so as to reinforce the drug control system. An interpretation of Article 33 in the light of Canadas
cannabis reforms is proposed. Based on the text of the provision, the pacta tertiis rule, and the object and
purpose of the provision, it decouples the CRC from the normative requirements of the drugs conventions. Keywords: Single convention | Convention on the rights of the child | International law | Cannabis | Human rights |

A comprehensive view on quantity based aggregation for cadastral databases
دیدگاه جامع بر روی کمیت بر اساس تراکم برای پایگاه داده های cadastral-2017 Article history:Available online 1 March 2017Keywords: Security Database Access control Inference AggregationQuantity Based Aggregation (QBA) control is a subject that is closely related to inference control in databases. The goal is to enforce k out of n disclosure control. In this paper we work on QBA problems in the context of cadastral databases: how to prevent a user from knowing 1) the owners of all parcels in a region, and 2) all parcels belonging to the same owner. This work combines and extends our pre- vious work on the subject [1, 2, 3]. We overview the legislative context surrounding cadastral databases. We give important definitions related to the QBA concept. We present a complete model for QBA control in cadastral databases. We show how to implement the security policy efficiently, and we present our prototype of secure cadastral databases with some performance evaluations.© 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Rule-based topology system for spatial databases to validate complex geographic datasets
سیستم توپولوژی مبتنی بر قواعد برای پایگاه داده های فضایی برای اعتبارسنجی مجموعه داده های جغرافیایی پیچیده-2017 A rule-based topology software system providing a highly flexible and fast procedure to enforce integrity in
spatial relationships among datasets is presented. This improved topology rule system is built over the spatial
extension Jaspa. Both projects are open source, freely available software developed by the corresponding author
of this paper.
Currently, there is no spatial DBMS that implements a rule-based topology engine (considering that the
topology rules are designed and performed in the spatial backend). If the topology rules are applied in the
frontend (as in many GIS desktop programs), ArcGIS is the most advanced solution. The system presented in
this paper has several major advantages over the ArcGIS approach: it can be extended with new topology rules,
it has a much wider set of rules, and it can mix feature attributes with topology rules as filters. In addition, the
topology rule system can work with various DBMSs, including PostgreSQL, H2 or Oracle, and the logic is
performed in the spatial backend.
The proposed topology system allows users to check the complex spatial relationships among features (from
one or several spatial layers) that require some complex cartographic datasets, such as the data specifications
proposed by INSPIRE in Europe and the Land Administration Domain Model (LADM) for Cadastral data.

Fine-tuning ADAS algorithm parameters for optimizing traffic safety and mobility in connected vehicle environment
تنظیم دقیق پارامترهای الگوریتم ADAS برای بهینه سازی ایمنی ترافیک و تحرک در محیط وسیله نقلیه همبند -2017 Under the Connected Vehicle environment where vehicles and road-side infrastructure can
communicate wirelessly, the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) can be adopted
as an actuator for achieving traffic safety and mobility optimization at highway facilities.
In this regard, the traffic management centers need to identify the optimal ADAS algorithm
parameter set that leads to the optimization of the traffic safety and mobility performance,
and broadcast the optimal parameter set wirelessly to individual ADAS-equipped vehicles.
Once the ADAS-equipped drivers implement the optimal parameter set, they become
active agents that work cooperatively to prevent traffic conflicts, and suppress the devel
opment of traffic oscillations into heavy traffic jams. Measuring systematic effectiveness
of this traffic management requires am analytic capability to capture the quantified impact
of the ADAS on individual drivers’ behaviors and the aggregated traffic safety and mobility
improvement due to such an impact. To this end, this research proposes a synthetic
methodology that incorporates the ADAS-affected driving behavior modeling and state
of-the-art microscopic traffic flow modeling into a virtually simulated environment.
Building on such an environment, the optimal ADAS algorithm parameter set is identified
through a multi-objective optimization approach that uses the Genetic Algorithm. The
developed methodology is tested at a freeway facility under low, medium and high
ADAS market penetration rate scenarios. The case study reveals that fine-tuning the
ADAS algorithm parameter can significantly improve the throughput and reduce the traffic
delay and conflicts at the study site in the medium and high penetration scenarios. In these
scenarios, the ADAS algorithm parameter optimization is necessary. Otherwise the ADAS
will intensify the behavior heterogeneity among drivers, resulting in little traffic safety
improvement and negative mobility impact. In the high penetration rate scenario, the iden
tified optimal ADAS algorithm parameter set can be used to support different control
objectives (e.g., safety improvement has priority vs. mobility improvement has priority).

A Hybrid Approach for Big Data Outlier Detection from Electric Power SCADA System
روش ترکیبی برای تشخیص پرت داده های بزرگ سیستم برق SCADA-2017 Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
databases have three main features that identify them as big data
systems: volume, variety and velocity. SCADAs are extremely
important for the safety and secure operation of modern power
system and provide essential online information about the power
system state to system operators. A current research challenge is
to efficiently process this big data, which involves real-time
measurements of hundreds of thousands of heterogeneous
electrical power system physical measurements. Among the
foreseen automation tasks, outlier detection is one of the most
important data mining techniques for power systems. However,
like others data mining techniques, traditional outlier detection
fails when dealing with problems in which the volume and
dimensionality of data are as high as the ones observed in a
SCADA. This work aims at circumventing these restrictions by
presenting a methodology for dealing with SCADA big data that
consists of a pre-processing algorithm and hybrid approach
outlier detectors. The hybrid approach is assessed using real data
from a Brazilian utility company. The results show that the
proposed methodology is capable of identifying outliers
correlated with important events that affect the system.

Music and natural sounds in an auditory steady-state response based brain–computer interface to increase user acceptance
موسیقی و صداهای طبیعی در یک رابط مغز و رایانه مبتنی بر پاسخ پایدار شنوایی برای افزایش پذیرش کاربران-2017 Patients with total locked-in syndrome are conscious; however, they cannot express themselves because most of their voluntary muscles are paralyzed, and many of these patients have lost their eyesight. To improve the quality of life of these patients, there is an increasing need for communication-supporting technologies that leverage the remaining senses of the patient along with physiological signals. The auditory steady-state response (ASSR) is an electro-physiologic response to auditory stimulation that is amplitude-modulated by a specific frequency. By leveraging the phenomenon whereby ASSR is modulated by mind concentration, a brain– computer interface paradigm was proposed to classify the selective attention of the patient. In this paper, we propose an auditory stimulation method to minimize auditory stress by replacing the monotone carrier with familiar music and natural sounds for an ergonomic system. Piano and violin instrumentals were employed in the music sessions; the sounds of water streaming and cicadas singing were used in the natural sound sessions. Six healthy subjects participated in the experiment. Electroencephalograms were recorded using four electrodes (Cz, Oz, T7 and T8). Seven sessions were performed using different stimuli. The spectral power at 38 and 42 Hz and their ratio for each electrode were extracted as features. Linear discriminant analysis was utilized to classify the selections for each subject. In offline analysis, the average classification accuracies with a modulation index of 1.0 were 89.67% and 87.67% using music and natural sounds, respectively. In online experiments, the average classification accuracies were 88.3% and 80.0% using music and natural sounds, respectively. Using the proposed method, we obtained significantly higher user-acceptance scores, while maintaining a high average classification accuracy.
