1 Knowledge in pre-hospital emergency and risk management among outdoor adventure practitioners in East Africa afro-alpine mountains
دانش در اورژانس قبل از بیمارستان و مدیریت ریسک در میان تمرینکنندگان ماجراجویی در فضای باز در کوه های آفریقای شرقی آفریقا-2021
Introduction: The enjoyment of nature and other benefits of outdoor activities happen amid inherent hazards. This calls for knowledge and competency in emergency and risk management. Practitioners in outdoor activities, such as mountaineering, thus need to be knowledgeable on how to manage risks and attend to emergencies in their practice. The study sought to establish the preparedness of East African mountaineering practitioners in pre- hospital emergency and risk management. It sought to establish their knowledge on prehospital emergency and risk management, based on their age, gender, level of education and refresher training. Methods: The study purposively sampled one hundred and thirty six (N = 136) outdoor adventure practitioners from the Afro-alpine mountain areas in East Africa. It was hypothesized that there would be no significant relationship between the outdoor practitioners’ knowledge in prehospital emergency risk management and their age, gender, level of education, refresher training. Somers’ d was used to test the hypotheses. Results: It was established that the knowledge scores of prehospital emergency and risk management for the mountaineering practitioners was low. It was also established that the knowledge scores of outdoor practitioners were not dependent on their age, gender, and work experience. However, there was a significant relationship between the outdoor adventure practitioners’ knowledge scores and their highest level of education as well as refresher training. Conclusions: The study concluded that there were gaps in the knowledge of prehospital risk management of the East African Afro-alpine mountaineering practitioners. It recommends frequent and regular training and re- certification among outdoor adventure practitioners in order to raise the knowledge in prehospital emergency risk management. 2 Storytelling approach of the self-reported slow adventure to Tibet: Constructing experience and identity
رویکرد داستان پردازی از ماجراجویی کند گزارش شده خود به تبت: ساخت تجربه و هویت-2020
Most of our travel experiences are stored, recorded, and relived in the form of stories; tourist blogs have emerged as a modern form of travel story. These stories provide information about exciting moments and memorable events, which are usually emotional highpoints that can be useful for tourism marketers. Based on the sociological concept of storytelling, this study investigates which aspects of the slow adventure experience travelers present in their travel blogs through a rubric elaborated on extant literature. The findings reveal three types of slow adventure stories, and each type of story relates to a different identity construction. The article concludes with a discussion of its theoretical contributions in terms of adding to the literature of adventure tourism and storytelling. In revealing the themes and identities relating to specific slow adventure experiences, it provides potential practical implications of travel blogs for slow adventure product designers and marketers.

3 The impact of font choice on web pages: Relationship with willingness to pay and tourism motivation
تاثیر انتخاب قلم روی صفحات وب: روابط با تمایل به پرداخت و انگیزه گردشگری-2018
Past research in marketing has shown metacognitive ease affects product evaluation, yet little is known about whether it also affects the persuasiveness of travel texts. Through three experiments, the authors show metacognitive ease induced by font (italic or non-italic style, typeface, and color grey or black) affects peoples perceptions of a tour, while tourism motivation determines the direction of the effect. Results indicate that when a proposed tour offers relaxation/rest, easy-to-read (vs. difficult-to-read) font increases preference for the tour (i.e., willingness to pay); but when a tour offers adventure/excitement, difficult-to-read (vs. easy-to-read) font increases preference for it. The samples sizes ranged from 138 to 205 Chinese student/adult respondents.

4 The search for spirituality in tourism: Toward a conceptual framework for spiritual tourism
جستجو برای معنویت در گردشگری: به سوی چارچوب مفهومی گردشگری روحانی-2017
The geo-psychological separation from the everyday that is embedded in spiritual travel practices, can be seen as a laboratory in which individuals can examine, consider and practice spirituality in a way that is not always available in daily life. This feature of the tourism experience is arguably the reason for the popularity of spiritual tourism experiences among novices to spirituality-driven endeavours, as well as to those who wish to develop and deepen their ongoing transcendent engagement through and during travel. If spirituality is the goal, traveling seems like an ideal setting within which it can be sought and, sometimes, even found. This Special Issue has identified the emergence of a binary between spiritual tourism performance as intrinsically religious and conversely, as secular practice. Considering secular motivations firstly, it is clear that underlying the many specific drivers are deliberations focused on the self with motives like wellness, adventure or recreation predominant. Conversely, religious motivations for spiritual tourism largely leverage links to religion and are centred on specific drivers that are underlined by religious observance, ritualised practice, reaffirmation of identity and cultural performance.

5 Adventures in cross-disciplinary studies: Grand strategy and fisheries management
ماجراجویی در مطالعات بین رشته ای: استراتژی کلان و مدیریت شیلات-2016
This article explores whether the “Grand Strategy” (GS) approach is useful in the field of fisheries management. GS is derived from the study of warfare and its advocates argue that its lessons can be applied to a wide variety of fields and institutions. This article presents and evaluates the usefulness to fisheries management of five principles recommended by the Yale Grand Strategy program for appli- cation in the field of Global Health: (1) start with the ends in mind; (2) take an ecological approach;(3) recognize that tactics matter; (4) use positive deviance to characterize practical solutions and foster scale-up and (5) understand the importance of integrating timely intelligence. It adds a sixth principle, suggested by the literature that prompted the GS approach: always anticipate friction. It argues that while many of the principles offered by the GS approach have long been recognized in fisheries man- agement and closely related fields, GS offers support for these and some new insights. Central among these is the importance of clear policy goals and the lack of natural harmony at various levels of action. The weakness of the GS approach is a lack of recognition of the political difficulties involved in adopting a Grand Strategy.& 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

6 Using GPS tracking to explore terrain preferences of heli-ski guides
استفاده از ردیابی GPS برای کشف تنظیمات زمین از راهنماهای هلیکوپتر اسکی-2016
Heli-ski guiding can be considered as a prime example of high-stress, high-consequence decision making in avalanche terrain. A combination of factors make heli-skiing an exciting consumer experience but also results in a high-pressure scenario that demands consistently high quality decisions by guides and op- erators to mitigate avalanche risk. A key mitigation tool used by heli-ski guides to avoid avalanches is careful selection of terrain to optimally meet client and safety demands. Therefore, heli-ski operations provide a unique setting to examine the terrain preferences of highly experienced professionals as they balance terrain, changing avalanche hazard, group expertize and, a variety of other factors.Previous work examining heli-ski operations and avalanche hazard have considered case-studies of accidents, or close calls. However, no analysis has been undertaken to examine real-time, terrain-focused selection choices, as evidenced by the resulting ski tracks as taken by the guides. Our work is presented as an exploration, and presents the results of GPS tracks analyzed for 18 days of heli-ski guiding at Majestic Heli-Ski in Alaska. Given the limited size of our data set statistical robustness is limited.Using handheld GPS devices we obtained a record of terrain used by lead guides under varying snow, avalanche and group conditions. The tracks are then analyzed within a GIS to extract key terrain metrics including slope, elevation and aspect. When these data are grouped by day, avalanche conditions, or group, there are limited differences in terrain attributes, which can be attributed to the simple terrain metrics used and also the ability of a heli-ski guide to move to more favorable areas under varying conditions to maintain desired slope angles. However, when we consider tracks in terrain which is re- used under different conditions, there is a statistically significant difference in terrain usage which is attributed to avalanche hazard conditions.M a n a g e m e n t i m p l i c a t i o n s The management implications of our work are that we present a tangible and practical method for the documentation and quantification of different heli-ski guides' terrain preferences under varying conditions. These methods provide a potential tool for the effective transfer of institutional knowledge from oneguide to another within the operation.Furthermore, with careful consideration to key metrics used, this method also presents a potentialopportunity for internal and, or external auditing by the operations themselves, or outside third parties (e.g. Alaska Occupational Safety and Health).Given the recent fatalities in the industry in Alaska, and proposed new checks by the Alaska OccupationalSafety and Health agency, there is a strong desire to better understand, and quantify practices in this industry. One way to accomplish this is by observing terrain preferences by guides on a day to day basis. Finally, if our methods were applied in near-real time, they have the potential for real-time operationalself-checking and management of terrain use by an operation on-the-fly, thereby aiding decision making with respect to terrain use, and maintaining institutional overview on all terrain decisions made.& 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
