2 Analysing the inhibitors of complexity for achieving sustainability and improving sustainable performance of petroleum supply chain
In the era of business sustainability, the modern supply chain is becoming complex due to several inhibitors such as uncertainty in the market, technological innovation, environmental protocols, cross-border trade regulations, and many stakeholders’ involvement. In the existing literature, minimal discussion to study the inhibit supply chain complexity (SCC) inhibitors for achieving sustainability. Therefore, the study analyses the inhibitors to SCC and supply chain sustainability (SCS) jointly. The combined examination of the underlying relationship for improving the Petroleum Supply Chain’s sustainable performance (PSC) is arguably one of the complex sectors with a significant impact on the environment and sustainability. The inhibitors to SCC and SCS are identified through extensive literature review and experts’ opinions. Through a structured questionnaire, data were collected from PSC experts. An integrated approach of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and interpretive structural modelling (ISM) is proposed to prioritize and examine the underlying relationship between inhibitors. This study explores the driving and dependence power of the inhibitors. The results indicate that most of the SCS inhibitors, such as institutional pressures (laws and regulations), strategic lack of strategic supplier alliance, market threat, act as drivers of SCC inhibitors, such as technological complexity, horizontal complexity, and complexity of customers. The study’s findings would help the supply chain managers and the petroleum sector policymakers to make better decision to overcome the challenges for achieving sustainability in PSC.

The China’s chemical industry has been endeavoring to promote sustainable development through practicing green supply chain management (GSCM). This paper proposes a multi-criteria decision framework with twenty practices to guide companies in the industry to enact GSCM effectively. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) has been used to cluster the proposed practices. We found five aspects, including economic initiatives, environmental management, eco-design, resource recycling, and stakeholder and employee, constitute the underlying structure of GSCM. A mixed decision tool combining the entropy weight method (EWM) and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been developed and applied to identify key factors. Official website information has been collected and used to analyse the website contents of five benchmarking companies in the China’s chemical industry. The results reveal that the aspects of environmental management, eco-design and resource recycling are the most important GSCM themes. Moreover, the top five practices are top management support, performing life cycle assessment, managing environmental risks, advancing recycling technologies and integrating reverse logistics. Conceptual and practical implications are discussed.

4 Balanced Scorecard approach in deducing supply chain performance
Supply chain management showcases a major role in enhancing organizational efficiency and effective- ness. A proficient supply chain can lead to abridged costs, augmented market shares, improved transactions and sustainable customer relationships. Nevertheless, designing a supply chain alone may be inadequate in bettering the overall performance of an organization which can only be improved through evaluation. For deducing supply chain performance, the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is an appropriate tool, apart from Supply Chain Operations Reference models (SCOR), Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Heuristic techniques based models. Modern firms face inabilities in measuring their real performance against the demanded performance. Real performance is often greater or lesser than the demanded performance which leads to uncertain and delicate supply chains. Accounting for this ambiguity and improving supply chain performance using Balanced Scorecard model is the emphasis of this research effort, by providing an approach to inspect value creation from four standpoints such as financial, customer, internal business process, learning and growth. In this paper, the drag factors which affects the above four standpoints have been explored and removed, to mend the supply chain for better profits.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. 5 AHP-TOPSIS social sustainability approach for selecting supplier in construction supply chain
Prequalification of suppliers in the Construction Supply Chain is considered a crucial step to assure to their ability to deliver socially sustainable projects. This research identifies the most important social sustainability prequalification criteria for supplier selection in Construction Supply Chain. Additionally, a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) model based on social indicators of sustainability is proposed in this research. Structured interviews were organized with experienced practitioners to define the relative importance weights of criteria that have collected in the first phase using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). As such, the AHP is applied to develop mathematical determination to achieve the weights of social indicators. Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method is used to evaluate the different suppliers in the construction supply chain against 17 identified attributes. Ultimately, the closeness coefficients of the suppliers are estimated in order to identify social performance. The research aims at proposing a computational model of MCDM in order to introduce it to the construction organizations to utilize in the supplier prequalification process. A computational model is developed and a case study is worked out to illustrate the proposed methodology in supplier selection to ensure sustainable construction projects. Afterwards, the model is validated and a sensitivity analysis is conducted to analyze the impact of changing the weights of the considered attributes in the model outputs.

6 A hybrid Pythagorean fuzzy AHP – CoCoSo framework to rank the performance outcomes of circular supply chain due to adoption of its enablers
In the last few years, the Circular Supply Chain (CSC) has gained considerable attention among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. It offers immense opportunities to embrace supply chain operations in three dimensions of sustainability. This study aims to identify and rank the performance outcomes (POs) realized due to CSC enablers (CSCEs) adoption. The study proposes a hybrid framework of the Pythagorean fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (PF-AHP) and Pythagorean fuzzy combined compromised solution (PF-CoCoSo) to achieve the objectives of this research. PF-AHP is used to obtain the CSCEs relative weights while PF-CoCoSo is used to ranks the POs concerning the CSCEs. An empirical case study is conducted for an Indian manufacturing organization to demonstrate the proposed framework’s applicability. The result reveals that ‘global climate pressure and ecological scarcity of resources’ is the most significant CSCE to achieve the sustainability in the supply chain, followed by ‘government rules, legislations and directives for CSC adoption’, ‘environment management certifications and systems’, whereas, ‘reduces waste and promotes green development’ is the most critical PO realized due to adoption of CSCEs in CSC implementation process. The proposed framework is a systematic, more comprehensive, accurate, and structured approach to the business organization to improve its POs in a step-wise manner by implementing CSCEs. Sensitivity analysis is performed to check the effectiveness of the proposed framework. This research provides substantial contributions to sustainable development in the society as well as in the industry, and it will help researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working in the domain of CSC.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. 7 Surveying the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the poultry supply chain: A mixed methods study
The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has affected all supply chains through severe disruption of logistics activities, production, and markets. This study aimed to survey the impact of the coronavirus on the poultry supply chain using an exploratory sequential mixed design. We first addressed those stages of the poultry supply chain disrupted in an ongoing pandemic, and then elaborated particular disturbances associated with each stage. This study was based on data collected from Iranian poultry industry owners and experts who had sufficient experience in agricultural supply chains as well. As the qualitative phase, the content analysis was conducted to identify the impacts of the coronavirus on the poultry supply chain. The results and conclusions that emerged from the qualitative phase were refined and weighted by the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) and the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) respectively, in the quantitative phase. The results suggested that the pandemic has further affected the input supply as a stage in the poultry supply chain. This is probably because of the fact that the poultry industry is heavily dependent on inputs’ flow. In addition, supply chain governance was seriously impaired due to the persistence of the pandemic. The coronavirus pandemic has significantly affected the stages that are most reliant on transportation. Finally, we found that a part of the disruptions that occur in the downstream of the supply chain is due to the epidemic’s direct adverse effects, and another part is due to indirect consequences received from the upstream. Our findings and implications can be useful in decision-making procedures during ongoing epidemics.

8 Modelling of supply chain disruption analytics using an integrated approach: An emerging economy example
The purpose of this paper is to develop a framework to identify, analyze, and to assess supply chain disruption factors and drivers. Based on an empirical analysis, four disruption factor categories including natural, human- made, system accidents, and financials with a total of sixteen disruption drivers are identified and examined in a real-world industrial setting. This research utilizes an integrated approach comprising both the Delphi method and the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP). To test this integrated method, one of the well-known examples in industrial contexts of developing countries, the ready-made garment industry in Bangladesh is considered. To evaluate this industrial example, a sensitivity analysis is conducted to ensure the robustness and viability of the framework in practical settings. This study not only expands the literature scope of supply chain disruption risk assessment but through its application in any context or industry will reduce the impact of such disruptions and enhance the overall supply chain resilience. Consequently, these enhanced capabilities arm managers the ability to formulate relevant mitigation strategies that are robust and computationally efficient. These strategies will allow managers to take calculated decisions proactively. Finally, the results reveal that political and regulatory instability, cyclones, labor strikes, flooding, heavy rain, and factory fires are the top six disruption drivers causing disruptions to the ready-made garment industry in Bangladesh.

10 Using multi-criteria analysis the assess impacts of change in ecosystem-based fisheries management: The case of the Icelandic cod
This paper presents the outcome of one of the case-studies of the EU-funded FP7 research project MareFrame. The project sought to remove the barriers preventing more widespread use of the ecosystem-based approach to fisheries management by developing integrated ecosystem-based assessment methods and a decision support framework for the management of marine resources. The findings are intended to support the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). The case study focused on the Icelandic cod fishery which is by far the most important fishery in Iceland, accounting for 43% of the country’s total export values of seafood in 2016. Sound biological and economic management of the fishery is therefore essential for both the nation as a whole as well as individual fisheries-dependent communities. The analysis is done in two main steps. We first use the statistical multi-species model Gadget, developed by the Icelandic Marine and Freshwater Research Institute, to estimate the development of catches by fleet segments (trawl, net and longline) and stock size. Comparisons are made with two scenarios: a) adhering to the present harvest control rule or b) changing the effort to a level corresponding to fishing mortality associated with maximum sustainable yield (FMSY). In the second step, the two outcomes and their socio-economic effects are examined using a three-stage analytic hierarchy process. The case study has been developed in close cooperation with Icelandic stakeholders, and in this paper we describe how the co-creation approach was employed in an ecosystem-based fisheries management framework.
