1 A Big Data Analytics Architecture for the Internet of Small Things

The SK Telecom Company of South Korea recently introduced the concept of IoST to its business model. The company deployed IoST, which constantly generates data via the LoRa wireless platform. The increase in data rates generated by IoST is escalating exponentially. After attempting to analyze and store the massive volume of IoST data using existing tools and technologies, the South Korean company realized the shortcomings immediately. The current article addresses some of the issues and presents a big data analytics architecture for its IoST. A system developed using the proposed architecture will be able to analyze and store IoST data efficiently while enabling better decisions. The proposed architecture is composed of four layers, namely the small things layer, infrastructure layer, platform layer, and application layer. Finally, a detailed analysis of a big data implementation of the IoST used to track humidity and temperature via Hadoop is presented as a proof of concept.

2 Big data analytics: Understanding its capabilities and potential benefits for healthcare organizations

To date, health care industry has not fully grasped the potential benefits to be gained from big data analytics. While the constantly growing body of academic research on big data analytics is mostly technology oriented, a better understanding of the strategic implications of big data is urgently needed. To address this lack, this study examines the historical development, architectural design and component functionalities of big data ana lytics. From content analysis of 26 big data implementation cases in healthcare, we were able to identify five big data analytics capabilities: analytical capability for patterns of care, unstructured data analytical capability, deci sion support capability, predictive capability, and traceability. We also mapped the benefits driven by big data an alytics in terms of information technology (IT) infrastructure, operational, organizational, managerial and strategic areas. In addition, we recommend five strategies for healthcare organizations that are considering to adopt big data analytics technologies. Our findings will help healthcare organizations understand the big data an alytics capabilities and potential benefits and support them seeking to formulate more effective data-driven an alytics strategies.

3 Big Data Analytics Architecture for Internet-of-Vehicles Based on the Spark

Internet-of-Vehicles (IoV) technology is the development trend of the intelligent traffic management system, it is also an effective means to ease traffic and improve traffic efficiency. This article used big data analysis technology to build a big data analysis platform of intelligent transportation, the platform is decomposed into infrastructure layer, data analysis layer and application layer; All vehicle information are acquired by several in-vehicle sensors on ECUs or roadside, and the acquired sensor data and received information are for information fusion, processing, trajectory prediction and risk assessment. The platform can solve the problem of storage, analysis and multi terminal distribution of mass data, provide traffic information services to traffic management departments and the public, it is a useful attempt to apply advanced information technology to the transportation industry.

4 Double-layered big data analytics architecture for solar cells series welding machine

The rapid and extensive pervasion of big data has enhanced the revolution of the society. A great interest has arisen in the past five years for mining and sharing the massive data. However, implementation of the big data analysis is facing many challenges, such as the storage, transmission, and computing. How to make the decision more intelligent in latency time becomes a crucial requirement for many researches. In this paper, a double-layered architecture ATWDP of online and offline analytics for solar cells series welding machine industry is proposed and the distributed and parallel computing system can handle the above challenges. The ATWDP offers an approach to analyze the data gathered from various sensing devices stably and efficiently. Some key implementation technologies in the system are discussed, especially the Hadoop Apache framework. The evaluation of service quality based on Support Vector Machine-Dempster Shafer Theory (SVMs-DS) and Spark is an application scenario to illustrate the mechanism of the ATWDP. And a data set is used to verify the rationality of the ATWDP in the storage and processing. Test results show that the ATWDP platform has a good performance and is a suitable solution for dealing with the big data of solar cells series welding machine.

5 Big Data Analytics Architecture for Agro Advisory System

Modern trends in the agriculture domain have made people realize the importance of big data. The key challenge of big data in agriculture is to identify the effectiveness of big data analytics. Moreover, how big data analytics can be used to improve the productivity in agricultural practices. The purpose of the proposed research is to reduce the technological gap between rural communities and information through recommendations and decision support system. The main contribution of this paper is to propose an open source, cost-effective and scalable big data analytics architecture for an Agro advisory system. As a part of implementation, an analytic framework for big data application development is built and implemented. Also, a prototype application for crop yield prediction is implemented for cotton crop in Ahmedabad district, Gujarat, India.
