Social capital and destination strategic planning
سرمایه اجتماعی و برنامه ریزی راهبردی مقصد-2018 Improving stakeholder engagement is a critical challenge for destination strategic planning. Using social capital as a theoretical lens, this paper explores the social dynamics which facilitate or inhibit successful tourism destination planning. Working with five recently completed destination plans (3 USA states, an Australian state, and an Oceanic country), in-depth interviews of 74 stakeholders explored the dimensions of trust, reciprocity, and cooperation in the contexts of bonding and bridging social capital. The studys results suggest stakeholder support for destination strategic plans will increase as bonding and bridging social capital intensifies. Recommendations are provided both for destination strategic planning processes as well as for how to best implement strategic plans. Further research examining the applications of social capital theory is recommended.

Ties that work: Investigating the relationships among coworker connections, work-related Facebook utility, online social capital, and employee outcomes
روابط کار: بررسی رابطه بین همکاران، ابزار فیس بوک مربوط به کار، سرمایه اجتماعی آنلاین و نتایج کارکنان-2017 People connect with their coworkers on social networking sites not only for personal but also for pro
fessional purposes. Although much has been done to understand the use of enterprise social networking
sites (ESNSs), little is known about the impact of connecting with coworkers on publicly available social
networking sites (PSNSs) such as Facebook and Twitter. This study examines the relationships among the
percentage of coworker connections within the total number of Facebook contacts, work-related Face
book utility, employee online social capital, and employee outcomes. Results from an online survey
(N ¼ 195) revealed that the percentage of coworker connections had a significant and positive impact on
the perceptions of work-related Facebook organizing and network utility as well as online bridging social
capital. Employees online bonding social capital was associated with job satisfaction. Online bridging
social capital had a positive impact on job performance. Online bonding social capital mediated the
relationship between information utility and job satisfaction. This study supports the idea that PSNS use
can bring a positive impact on important organizational processes and employee outcomes. Managers
and designers should help employees to utilize functions of PSNSs that are useful for improving their job
performance and job satisfaction.

College students social media use and communication network heterogeneity: Implications for social capital and subjective well-being
دانشجویان کالج با استفاده از رسانه های اجتماعی و ناهمگونی شبکه ارتباطات: پیامدهای سرمایه اجتماعی و رفاه ذهنی-2017 This study examined whether and how the usage of social media can influence college students level of
network heterogeneity and how network heterogeneity is associated with levels of bridging/bonding
social capital and subjective well-being. In particular, whether network heterogeneity plays a mediating
role in the relationship between social media use and the dependent variables of bridging/bonding social
capital and subjective well-being was investigated. The results indicated that usage of social media is
positively associated with college students’ communication network heterogeneity in their everyday life.
Network heterogeneity is also positively related to levels of bridging/bonding social capital and sub
jective well-being. We also discovered a positive indirect effect mechanism by which social media use
influences bridging/bonding social capital and subjective well-being through network heterogeneity.

The contradiction between self-protection and self-presentation on knowledge sharing behavior
تناقض بین خود محافظت و خود-ارائه در رفتار اشتراک دانش-2017 This study decomposes information security awareness (ISA) into general information security aware- ness (GISA) and information security policy awareness (ISPA), to explore how these factors affect knowledge-sharing behavior. It also investigates the effects of threat appraisal and source credibility on knowledge-sharing behavior from self-protection and self-presentation perspectives. This study adopted an online questionnaire through mySurvey for data collection. This research collected and analyzed 598 valid responses by using a structural equation modeling to validate the research hypotheses. The results indicate that GISA and ISPA have significant positive effects on threat appraisal. Whereas ISPA has a significant positive effect on knowledge-sharing behavior, GISA does not. With regard to social ties, bonding social capital and bridging social capital have significant positive effects on both source credi- bility and knowledge-sharing behavior. Threat appraisal has a significant negative effect, and source credibility has a significant positive effect, on knowledge-sharing behavior. In addition, threat appraisal and source credibility exert partial mediation effects on ISPA, bonding social capital, bridging social capital, and knowledge-sharing behavior.© 2017 Elsevier Ltd.
