1 Optimal innovation investment: the role of subsidy schemes and supply chain channel power structure
We investigate the impact of government subsidy schemes and channel power structure on the level of inno- vation in a two-tier supply chain. Our results indicate that consumer subsidies are more effective than producer subsidies in promoting innovation investment for a given channel power structure. Regardless of the power structure, supply chain members, consumers and society benefit more from consumer subsidies. If government subsidies are absent, innovation investment is higher when neither member of the supply chain dominates, and consumer surplus and social welfare are also higher in the Nash game. Under the consumer subsidy scheme, although government expenditures are higher in the manufacturer-led game, innovation investment is the same under different power structures, and consumer surplus and social welfare are also, in turn, the same. Under the producer subsidy scheme, the manufacturer invests more in innovation, and government expenditure is also higher when the retailer dominates the supply chain. Under producer subsidies, consumers and society benefit from the presence of powerful retailers when the investment cost is lower, and consumer surplus and social welfare have an inverted U-shaped relationship with the retailer’s power otherwise.

2 Pricing and coordination in a reverse supply chain with online and offline recycling channels: A power perspective
Faced with a large number and a wide variety of used products, it is of great significance to study how to design an effective reverse channel for recycling waste products, to obtain better economic and environmental benefits. In this paper, we explore how various channel power structures affect the pricing decisions and coordination in a reverse supply chain (RSC) with competitive online and offline recycling channels. One centralized and three decentralized RSC models are established under three power structures: remanufacturer-led, collector-led, and vertical Nash. Through equilibrium comparison, we find that either the remanufacturer or the collector has sufficient incentives to lead the RSC, however, the balanced power structure (Vertical Nash) is more favorable to the RSC system. In addition, we design a mechanism, which consists of an online acquisition price scheme and a two-part tariff contract, to co- ordinate dual-recycling channel RSCs under various power structures. Finally, we extend the model to asymmetric initial collection quantity and asymmetric recycling channel cost cases and verify the robustness of our basic propositions. Our analysis generates managerial insights into the relationship between the channel power structure and recycling channel competition and provides guidance for strategic decisions by remanufacturers and recyclers in dual-recycling channel RSC.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. 3 Offline retailers expanding online to compete with manufacturers: Strategies and channel power
As traditional offline retailers complain about manufacturers decision to compete with them by selling their products directly online, many are responding by starting their own online sales operations. This paper analytically examines when an offline retailers expansion online is desirable and how it affects channel members strategies and profits in a dual channel. We found that staying out of the online market when it is still not large enough or is extremely large could be a better alternative for an offline retailer. Otherwise, a retailers online expansion cannibalizes offline sales, but increases the retailers overall sales. It increases the retailers channel power at the expense of the manufacturer, who continues however to have the lions share of the channel profit. Depending on market conditions, the retailer may or may not set the same price across channels, while the manufacturer always sets a lower price than the retailer in the online channel. Finally, a price war across channels in a relatively large online market further reduces offline prices and can drive the retailer out of the offline market.

4 Exploring sub-suppliers compliance with corporate sustainability standards
Firms face the challenge for ensuring compliance with their corporate sustainability standards (CSS) in their supply chains, i.e. internally, by their suppliers, and also upstream by subsuppliers. Supplier management strategies to ensure compliance with CSS in the supply chain usually focus on suppliers. These strategies fall short when ensuring compliance of sub-suppliers. Firms sustainable supplier management practices focusing on first-tier suppliers have been studied extensively, while little is known on how firms reach out to sub-suppliers. Firms challenges include the identification of sub- suppliers, the evaluation of compliance levels, and the execution of corrective action. This study in- vestigates the management of sub-suppliers to ensure sub-suppliers compliance with CSS of two focal firms in the electronics and retail/food industries using case study research. It focuses on the activities of the focal firm and its perception of sub-suppliers compliance with its CSS. The findings propose that firms can improve sub-suppliers compliance with CSS by actively managing sub-suppliers through assessment and collaboration. It was found that (1) public attention on the mediating first-tier supplier,(2) perceived risks of sub-suppliers non-compliance with CSS, and (3) a firms channel power are an- tecedents to sub-supplier management. Involving strategic business partners suggests amplifying the positive effect of managing sub-suppliers on sub-suppliers compliance with CSS. This paper is one of the first studies addressing the management of sub-suppliers from a sustainability perspective. It proposes a framework for understanding sub-supplier management to achieve compliance with sustainability standards, which can also be used for further research and theory development.© 2014 Elsevier Ltd. 5 Authentication scheme for mobile OFDM based on security information technology of physical layer over time-variant and multipath fading channels
This work investigates security information technologies for wireless mobile environment. Traditionally, security is viewed as an independent feature addressed above the physical layer (PHY). All widely used cryptographic protocols are established assuming the PHY layer is merely used to provide an error-free link. However, with the emergence of ad hoc and decentralized networks, higher-layer security techniques are complex and hard to be implemented. To complement and enhance traditional security mechanism, we study a novel authentication scheme for mobile orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based on the channel power-delay profile (PDP),1 considering channel time and frequency selectivities. More specifically, the PHY layer, employing the properties of OFDM signals over time-variant and multipath fading channels, is aimed to assist the overall authentication process. To identify different transmitters (TXs), we employ the hypothesis test based on their PDPs to distinguish different transmission terminals. It is advantageous to use the PDP as the wireless signature, because it depends on the surrounding environment and is therefore considered to be very hard to mimic. The proposed PDP estimation is obtained based on the redundancy of cyclic prefix (CP), which is a common feature for almost all OFDM systems. The performance is analyzed, and simulations confirm the advantages of the proposed method. Keywords: Hypothesis test Power-delay profile (PDP) Security information technology
