Lane-based short-term urban traffic forecasting with GA designed ANN and LWR models
پیش بینی ترافیک شهری کوتاه مدت مبتنی بر خط با GA با طراحی مدل های ANN و LWR -2017 Short-term traffic forecasting has received special attention in the past decade due primarily to their vital role in supporting route
choice decisions, traffic management and control. In this study, genetic algorithms (GAs) are used to design artificial neural network
(ANN) models and locally weighted regression (LWR) models. The modeling approach proposed relies on a combination of
Genetic algorithm, neural network and locally weighted regressions to achieve optimal prediction performance under various input
and traffic condition settings. The GA designed ANN (GA-ANN) and GA designed LWR (GA-LWR) aggregate and disaggregate
models were used to predict short-term traffic (5-minute) for four lanes of an urban road in Beijing, China. The GA-ANN models
developed in this study show most of the average errors, are less than 5-6% and 95th percentile errors are mostly less than 15% for
all lanes. Whereas overall the GA-LWR models developed in this study show a better performance with their average errors mostly
less than 5% and 95th percentile errors lower than 10%. Study results show that such accurate predictions would be useful for
highway authorities to put through their statewide ATIS

The kingdom of the bicycle: what Wuhan can learn from Amsterdam
پادشاهی دوچرخه: آنچه ووهان می تواند از آمستردام یاد بگیرد-2017 China used to be called “the Kingdom of the Bicycle,” but this is no longer the case. Bicycle use in China has been
marginalized over the past 30 years. In contrast, the Netherlands has seen bicycle use grow since the 1970s. This paper—through
a comparative analysis of data from Wuhan and Amsterdam—explores the reasons why the two countries have gone in different
directions. Although these cities have different socio-demographics they experienced similar issues. This paper suggests lessons
that Wuhan can learn from Amsterdam. However, these are one-way as it is considered that Amsterdam has little to learn from
the decline of bicycle use in Wuhan.

Internationalization strategies of emerging market banks: Challenges and opportunities
استراتژی بین المللی سازی بانکهای بازار های نو ظهور: چالش ها و فرصت ها-2017 The greatly improved economic fundamentals of the major emerging
economies over the last decade have propelled several emerging banks into the ranks
of the world’s largest. Despite their importance in the global economy, the internationalization of emerging market banks remains an understudied phenomenon. This article examines factors that may influence the internationalization strategies of
emerging market banks in the private banking sector, both when going abroad (takeoff) and upon arrival in a host country (landing). The private banking sector is of significant interest given its importance in many leading financial centers around the
world while undergoing major transformation due to the worldwide financial crisis,
several recent scandals, and a fast-changing regulatory environment. We highlight
the internationalization strategies of two banks from emerging countries, China and
Brazil, and their experience in Switzerland’s traditional private banking sector. These
two cases highlight factors that may influence successful internationalization such as
prior industry experience, existing client base, entry strategy, ownership type, and
the liability of foreignness. Our findings offer valuable implications for managers
from other emerging economies by providing a better understanding of how emerging
market banks expand internationally.

Environmental benefits from ridesharing: A case of Beijing
مزایای زیست محیطی از ridesharing: یک مورد از پکن-2017 Emerging ridesharing travel could be an effective way in China to reduce travel demand by cars, which
can further seek to shift personal transportation choices from an owned asset to a service used on
demand and lessen the traffic jam and emissions. Drawing on the raw observed ridesharing trip data pro
vided by DiDi Chuxing company, this study evaluated the direct environmental benefits of ridesharing
resulted from the travel mode shift and the indirect environmental benefits resulted from the attitude
change towards car purchase behavior. The megacity Beijing is taken as the empirical context given its
more serious situation of traffic congestion and difficulties for car purchase. Estimation results show that
direct annual energy savings made by ridesharing are approximately 26.6 thousand tce, and annual emis
sion reductions of CO2 and NOx are approximately 46.2 thousand tons and 253.7 tons, respectively.
Besides, using ridesharing service will lead to substantial energy savings and emission reductions from
the long-term perspective attributing to the weakening willingness on purchasing new cars. Promoting
EVs among ridesharing vehicles and switching to clean electricity generation as well as improving vehicle
efficiency can further enhance the environmental benefits of ridesharing, with maximum effects amount
ing to 67% of energy savings and 57% of CO2 emission reductions compared to 2016 level of the fuel
related energy consumption and emissions made by ridesharing.

An improved seasonal rolling grey forecasting model using a cycle truncation accumulated generating operation for traffic flow
یک مدل پیش بینی خاکستری غلیظ فصلی بهبود یافته با استفاده از عملیات تولید متراکم برش چرخه برای جریان ترافیک-2017 Accurate real-time prediction of urban traffic flows is one of the most important prob
lems in traffic management and control optimization research. Short-term traffic flow has
complex stochastic and nonlinear characteristics, and it shows a similar seasonality within
intraday and weekly trends. Based on these properties, we propose an improved binding
cycle truncation accumulated generating operation seasonal grey rolling forecasting model.
In the new model, the traffic flow sequence of seasonal fluctuation is converted to a flat se
quence using the cycle truncation accumulated generating operation. Then, grey modeling
of the cycle truncation accumulated generating operation sequence weakens the stochastic
disturbances and highlights the intrinsic grey exponential law after the sequence is accu
mulated. Finally, rolling forecasts of the limited data reflect the new information priority
and timeliness of the grey prediction. Two numerical traffic flow examples from China and
Canada, including four groups at different time intervals (1 h, 15 min, 10 min, and 5 min),
are used to verify the performance of the new model under different traffic flow condi
tions. The prediction results show that the model has good adaptability and stability and
can effectively predict the seasonal variations in traffic flow. In 15 or 10 min traffic flow
forecasts, the proposed model shows better performance than the autoregressive mov
ing average model, wavelet neural network model and seasonal discrete grey forecasting
model.

Data-mining for detecting signals of adverse drug reactions of fluoxetine using the Korea Adverse Event Reporting System (KAERS) database
داده کاوی برای تشخیص سیگنال های واکنش های نامطلوب داروئی فلوکستین با استفاده از پایگاه داده سیستم گزارش رویدادهای کره (KAERS)-2017 Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) have become one of the most broadly used medications in psy
chiatry. Fluoxetine is the first representative antidepressant SSRI drug approved by the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) in 1987. Safety information on fluoxetine use alone was less reported than its combined
use with other drugs. There were no published papers on adverse drug reactions (ADRs) of fluoxetine analyzing
spontaneous adverse events reports. We detected signals of the adverse drug reactions of fluoxetine by data
mining using the Korea Adverse Events Reporting System (KAERS) database. We defined signals in this study by
the reporting odds ratios (ROR), proportional reporting ratios (PRR), and information components (IC) indices.
The KAERS database included 860,224 AE reports, among which 866 reports contained fluoxetine. We compared
the labels of fluoxetine among the United States, UK, Germany, France, China, and Korea. Some of the signals,
including emotional lability, myositis, spinal stenosis, paradoxical drug reaction, drug dependence, extra
pyramidal disorder, adrenal insufficiency, and intracranial hemorrhage, were not labeled in the six countries. In
conclusion, we identified new signals that were not known at the time of market approval. However, certain
factors should be required for signal evaluation, such as clinical significance, preventability, and causality of the
detected signals.

Examining industrial structure changes and corresponding carbon emission reduction effect by combining input-output analysis and social network analysis: A comparison study of China and Japan
بررسی تغییرات ساختاری صنعتی و اثر کاهش انتشار کربن مربوط به آن با ترکیب تجزیه و تحلیل ورودی / خروجی و تحلیل شبکه های اجتماعی: مطالعه مقایسه ای از چین و ژاپن-2017 Industrial structure adjustment is one solution for responding economic slowdown and
environmental problems occurred during China’s rapid industrialization. Such an adjustment may
also lead to carbon emission reduction since it encourages industrial innovation and resource
efficiency. However, few studies have been conducted on examining the effect of industrial
structure adjustment on carbon emission reduction. Under such a circumstance, this study
develops an integrated evaluation model based on Input-Output Analysis and Social Network
Analysis to quantify the evolutionary trends of industrial structure, demonstrate the inner
relationship between different sectors and investigate the industrial structure-related carbon
emissions. China and Japan were selected as case study countries. Results show that industrial
structure was gradually improved in China and various connections were established between
different sectors. For Japan, the industrial network densities were lower than for China and
exhibited a downward trend that reflected the weakened relationship between different industries.
Service sectors dominated the Japanese economy, as shown by the relatively higher degree
centrality and betweenness centrality of service sectors. The electricity and heat production sector
was further investigated to illustrate the industrial structure-related carbon emissions. Finally, this
study concluded that compared to the industrial structure features in a developed country, such as
Japan, China’s industrialization is still in its infancy. Thus, it is crucial to prepare industrial
structure adjust policies so that the overall social-economic performance can be improved.

An evolutionary outlook of air traffic flow management techniques
چشم انداز تکاملی تکنیک های مدیریت جریان ترافیک هوایی-2017 In recent years Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) has become pertinent even in regions without sustained
overload conditions caused by dense traffic operations. Increasing traffic volumes in the face of constrained
resources has created peak congestion at specific locations and times in many areas of the world. Increased
environmental awareness and economic drivers have combined to create a resurgent interest in ATFM as
evidenced by a spate of recent ATFM conferences and workshops mediated by official bodies such as ICAO,
IATA, CANSO the FAA and Eurocontrol. Significant ATFM acquisitions in the last 5 years include South Africa,
Australia and India. Singapore, Thailand and Korea are all expected to procure ATFM systems within a year
while China is expected to develop a bespoke system. Asia-Pacific nations are particularly pro-active given the
traffic growth projections for the region (by 2050 half of all air traffic will be to, from or within the Asia-Pacific
region). National authorities now have access to recently published international standards to guide the
development of national and regional operational concepts for ATFM, geared to Communications, Navigation,
Surveillance/Air Traffic Management and Avionics (CNS+A) evolutions. This paper critically reviews the field to
determine which ATFM research and development efforts hold the best promise for practical technological
implementations, offering clear benefits both in terms of enhanced safety and efficiency in times of growing air
traffic. An evolutionary approach is adopted starting from an ontology of current ATFM techniques and
proceeding to identify the technological and regulatory evolutions required in the future CNS+A context, as the
aviation industry moves forward with a clearer understanding of emerging operational needs, the geo-political
realities of regional collaboration and the impending needs of global harmonisation.
