41 Platform-based customer agility: An integrated framework of information management structure, capability, and culture

Platform-based customer agility is the ability to leverage the voice of the customer on a platform to achieve market intelligence and to explore competitive action opportunities. Prior studies have indicated the critical role of customer agility in enabling the survival and prosperity of contemporary organizations in a turbulent business environment, although how to develop this capability is not answered. The current research attempts to fill this theoretical gap. Drawing on the information management literature, we propose an integrative information management framework to investigate the process of developing customer agility. By conducting a case study of a leading e-commerce platform in China, we identify three types of platform-based customer agility (i.e. reactive customer agility, proactive customer agility, and coactive customer agility) in different phases of the growth of the platform. Furthermore, a process model is developed from the case study. It shows that platform-based customer agility is achieved by establishing information management structure, developing information man- agement capability, and instilling information management culture. This study contributes to the knowledge on customer agility and information management. Detailed recommendations are also provided for potential practitioners.

42 Quantitative contrast of urban agglomeration colors based on image clustering algorithm: Case study of the Xia-Zhang-Quan metropolitan area

Color is an important element to consider when shaping urban characteristics. However, previous studies seldom included quantitative analyses of color relationships between urban agglomerations within proximal regions and with similar cultures to distinguish and shape individual urban personalities. This study focused on Xiamen, Zhangzhou, and Quanzhou metropolitan areas, which are influenced by Minnan culture, and collected natural and cultural landscape network images that collectively represent the urban landscape in China. Color extraction, computer vision processing technologies, and clustering algorithms, such as k-means partitioning, hierarchical methods, and co-occurrence frequency, were applied using image recognition. We then established an urban color database and quantified color attributes. Finally, we conducted a comparative analysis of dominant colors and color combination associations in Xiamen, Zhangzhou, and Quanzhou metropolitan areas to explore their similarities and differences and define their characteristics. We also considered other cities of the same type for comparison.

43 A framework for sustainable management of the platform service supply chain: An empirical study of the logistics sector in China

Platforms have become an effective means of innovation in the logistics sector. However, not all platform-based business models become a success. This research investigates how a platform strategy can lead to a sustainable managed platform service supply chain. Based on analysis of data collected within the logistics sectors in China, the research results propose a structural mapping of a platform service supply chain, which differs from the traditional service supply chain structure. This research develops a sustainable management framework for the platform service supply chain, including three key elements: mutual facilitation between platform and business ecosystem; strategic alignment among the structural elements; and a sustainable element including value co- creation, co-opetition and dynamic configuration. The paper also provides a summary of practical implications to guide practitioners in building a successful platform service supply chain and enacting effective management strategies.

44 In-field automatic detection of maize tassels using computer vision

The heading stage of maize is an important period during its growth and development and indicates the beginning of its pollination. In this regard, an automated method for maize tassel detection is highly important to monitor maize growth. However, the recognition of maize heading stage mainly relies on visual evaluation. This method presents some limitations, such as expensive and subjective. This work proposed a novel method for automatic tassel detection. In the proposed algorithm, a color attenuation prior model was used to model the scene depth of saturation graph to remove image saturation. An Itti visual attention detection algorithm was used to detect the area of interest. Texture features and vegetation indices were used to develop a classification model to eliminate false positives. Pictures were captured using a commercial camera for two years to verify the stability of the proposed algorithm. Three indices were calculated to quantitatively assess and rate the algorithms. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms other existing methods, and its recall, precision, and F1 measure values are 86.30%, 91.44%, and 88.36%, respectively. Results indicate that the proposed method can effectively detect maize tassels in field images and remain stable with time.© 2020 China Agricultural University. 45 ResTS: Residual Deep interpretable architecture for plant disease detection
ResTS: Residual Deep interpretable architecture for plant disease detection-2021
Recently many methods have been induced for plant disease detection by the influence of Deep Neural Networks in Computer Vision. However, the dearth of transparency in these types of research makes their acquisition in the real-world scenario less approving. We pro- pose an architecture named ResTS (Residual Teacher/Student) that can be used as visualization and a classification technique for diagnosis of the plant disease. ResTS is a tertiary adaptation of formerly suggested Teacher/Student architecture. ResTS is grounded on a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) structure that comprises two classifiers (ResTeacher and ResStudent) and a decoder. This architecture trains both the classifiers in a reciprocal mode and the conveyed representation between ResTeacher and ResStudent is used as a proxy to envision the dominant areas in the image for categorization. The experiments have shown that the proposed structure ResTS (F1 score: 0.991) has surpassed the Tea- cher/Student architecture (F1 score: 0.972) and can yield finer visualizations of symptoms of the disease. Novel ResTS architecture incorporates the residual connections in all the constituents and it executes batch normalization after each convolution operation which is dissimilar to the formerly proposed Teacher/Student architecture for plant disease diag- nosis. Residual connections in ResTS help in preserving the gradients and circumvent the problem of vanishing or exploding gradients. In addition, batch normalization after each convolution operation aids in swift convergence and increased reliability. All test results are attained on the PlantVillage dataset comprising 54 306 images of 14 crop species.© 2021 China Agricultural University. 46 Application status and challenges of machine vision in plant factory - A review

Plant factories have a great potential for mitigating the contradiction between the world’s growing population and food scarcity. During the process of its automatic production, machine vision plays a significant role. This technique almost covers every production link from raising seedlings, transplanting, management, and harvesting to fruit grading. To pro- vide references and a starting point for those who are committed to studying this issue. In this paper, the application prospects of machine vision in plant factories were analyzed, and the present researches were summarized from the fields of plant growth monitoring, robot operation assistance, and fruit grading. The results found that although the existing methods have solved some practical problems at low cost, high efficiency and precision, some challenges still are faced by machine vision. Firstly, the changing lighting, complex backgrounds, and color similarity within plant different parts cause the commonly used image segmentation algorithms to fail. The shortage of standard agricultural datasets also keeps deep learning and unsupervised classification algorithms from making progress. Secondly, there are some theoretical knowledge gaps for machine vision application in a particular environment of plant factories, which seriously contains its application effect. Thirdly, the lack of special image acquisition devices and supporting facilities resulted in poor image quality. All these factors hinder machine vision application in plant factories. Nevertheless, it is still a powerful tool and irreplaceable at present. We believed that this technique would promote plant factory development greatly with more robust, efficient, and reliable algorithms are developed in the future.© 2021 China Agricultural University. 47 How does traditional knowledge of Cassiae semen shed light on weight management? – A classical and modern literature review

Ethnopharmacological relevance: The seed of Senna obtusifolia (L.) H. S. Irwin & Barneby (Cassiae semen, CS) also known as Jue ming zi in China, has been traditionally used for weight management by purging the liver and improving the liver functions to support digestion. In the past decades, it has been used for hepatoprotection and treatment of overweight and other metabolic disorders such as hyperlipidaemia and diabetes. Aim of the review: This review aimed at providing comprehensive information on the traditional usages, phar- macology, phytochemistry and toxicology of CS and critically exploring its potential usage for clinical weight management from both traditional and modern application perspectives. Materials and methods: In order to fully understand the properties, actions and indications of CS, two sets of Chinese classical texts were searched, namely: Zhong Hua Yi Dian (Encyclopedia of Traditional Chinese Medi- cine) and Zhong Guo Ben Cao Quan Shu (Complete Collection of Traditional Texts on Chinese Materia Medica). The purpose of studying these classical texts was to determine the traditional use of CS in weight management. Comprehensive searches were also performed on seven databases for publications on original randomised clinical trials (RCT), in vivo, in vitro or in silico studies related to pharmacological effects of CS. Detailed information about the phytochemistry of CS was collected from books, encyclopedia, online databases and journal literature. Findings: In classical literature review, 89 classic texts provided information of properties, actions and indications of CS. In modern literature review, 44 studies were included for analysis, including 5 RCTs, 7 in vivo studies, 14 in vitro studies, 2 in silico studies and 16 studies of mixed types. Chinese classic literature has provided traditional evidence of the usage of CS for weight management. Contemporary studies have revealed that CS has weight loss effects and possesses some other pharmacological activities supporting weight management. Some chemical compounds of CS have been hypothesised to have a direct or indirect contribution to weight control. Conclusions: The relationships between chemical compounds and the corresponding weight-loss target proteins are not fully understood. Therefore, CS constituents should be further explored for the development of novel therapeutic or preventive agents for the treatment of overweight and obesity.

48 Integrating big data analytics into supply chain finance: The roles of information processing and data-driven culture

The role of big data in implementing supply chain finance (SCF) initiatives lacks empirical study. There is little guidance available for managers on developing an integrated SCF process in the era of big data. Using organizational information processing theory, this study develops and empirically tests a theoretical framework that investigates the effect of big data analytics capability (BDAC) on SCF Integration, and the moderating effect of data-driven culture. The hypothesized relationships were tested using structural equation modelling and moderated regression analysis, with primary survey data collected from a sample of 307 manufacturing firms in China. The results indicate that BDAC has a significant positive effect on internal SCF Integration, and internal SCF Integration fully mediates the relationships between BDAC and SCF Integration with customers and sup- pliers. Data-driven culture significantly moderates the effect of BDAC on internal SCF Integration. These empirical findings provide timely and useful guidance for managers on using big data analytics and data-driven culture to implement integrated SCF practices to survive in today’s data-rich and uncertain environment.

49 Information transmission along supply chains: Stock price reaction of suppliers upon a customers release of qualitative risk information

We examine suppliers’ stock price reaction to the disclosure of qualitative risk information from important customers. By leveraging recent advances in textual analysis, we quantify customers’ qualitative information disclosure and use it to gauge the spontaneous stock price reaction of the supplier’s stock. Using a sample of 2028 customer-supplier-firm observations in China, we find that, on average, the stock price of a supplier negatively reacts to its customer’s qualitative risk information disclosure. Our findings are robust to alternative metric of qualitative risk disclosure, alternative metric of stock price reaction, after accounting for customer stock returns, and after mitigating selection bias. Moreover, when comparing the magnitudes of coefficients, we find the impact of the qualitative risk information disclosure on suppliers’ stock price is larger than the firm, industry, and macroeconomic information embedded in the same annual report; its value is also greater than the impact of a customer’s negative stock price. Last, we show that the adverse impact of customers’ qualitative risk information disclosure is more salient if the customers are relatively important or the information is more useful to investors. We discuss implications of our findings to supply chain risk management.

این مقاله به بررسی تاثیر بیماری مسری کویید-19 بر ریسک سقوط بازار سهام در چین می پردازد. بدین منظور ابتدا کجی شرطی توزیع سود را با مدل کجی جی.ای.آر.سی.اچ به عنوان شاخص ریسک سقوط بازار سهام شانگهای برآورد کردیم.سپس شاخص ترس از کویید-19را با داده های شاخص بایدو ساختاربندی کردیم. طبق یافته ها، کجی شرطی واکنش منفی به رشد روزانه در نمونه های تایید شده دارد، که نشان می داد شیوع این بیماری ریسک سقوط بازار سهام را افزایش می دهد. به علاوه احساس ترس این ریسک تاثیر کویید-19 را بدتر می کند. به عبارت دیگر هنگامی که احساس ترس زیاد باشد، ریسک سقوط بازار سهام به شدت تحت تاثیر بیماری همه گیر است. شواهد ما در چند نوع مرگ روزانه و نمونه های جهانی پابرجا است.
