1 Purchasings contribution to supply chain emission reduction
سهم خرید در کاهش انتشار زنجیره تامین-2021
Does environmental purchasing and supplier management (EPSM) help to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the supply chain and, thereby, mitigate climate change? And, if so, under which conditions? Taking these two questions as a starting point, we hypothesize that heightened environmental protection efforts targeting the upstream value chain should lead to a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the buying companies’ supply chain. We continue to delineate three contingency factors that might affect the relationship between EPSM and supply chain GHG emissions: The power of the buying firm over supply chain partners, prior experience in EPSM, and materiality of environmental supply chain management in a certain industry. We collect longitudinal data from 260 companies and analyze them using hybrid panel data analysis. We find that the increase of EPSM leads to a significant reduction of the GHG emission intensity of buying firms’ supply chains and that this reduction is stronger for companies operating in industries where emission management is more material.

2 On the fair accounting of carbon emissions in the global system using an exergy cost formation concept
حسابداری منصفانه انتشار کربن در سیستم جهانی با استفاده از مفهوم تشکیل هزینه اگزرژی-2021
Carbon accounting is necessary for designing effective climate change mitigation policies. A proper and fair accounting method should motivate both the producers toward cleaner production methods and the consumers toward reducing the embodied emissions of their consumption. This research work proposes a new approach to map the production chain of carbon emissions in which every subsystem is responsible for the level and efficiency of its production activities and embodied emissions for providing its economic activities or final demands. The exergy cost formation concept is used to track the emissions in the production chain. The results of this accounting present the total carbon loads on economic outputs either consumed locally or exported abroad (CExA). The CExA results are then compared to the results of conventional production-based (PBA) and consumption-based (CBA) carbon inventories. Here we show that, in addition to the levels of production and consumption, the economic structures of the countries and the efficiency of the production activities are important factors differentiating the roles of the countries in the global emissions. Our results show that the share of the imported emissions to the total CExA varies between 14% for developing countries to 34% for the developed countries. Moreover, although the ratio of CBA to PBA for the countries is highly dependent on their economic states (0.87 for developing countries and 1.21 for developed countries), the ratio of CExA to PBA does not follow a unique trend among developing or developed countries. The results demonstrate that, according to the proposed sharing approach, the import-oriented developed countries, which have benefited the most from the carbon leakage effect, are mostly penalized for the embodied emissions associated with the imports to their economy, and vice versa.

3 Anaerobic digestion based waste-to-energy technologies can halve the climate impact of China’s fast-growing food waste by 2040
هضم بی هوازی مبتنی بر فناوری های هدر دادن به انرژی می تواند تأثیر آب و هوای زباله های مواد غذایی سریع رشد چین را تا سال 2040 کاهش دهد-2020
Food waste (FW) has become a global sustainability challenge due partly to its significant environmental impacts (e.g., greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions) from traditional treatment methodologies such as landfill and incineration. This is particularly the case for developing countries, for example over 90% of FW in China is currently blended with municipal solid waste and disposed of by landfilling and incin- eration. The anaerobic digestion (AD) technologies for energy recovery, however, has often been iden- tified as an effective approach for mitigating FW treatment related GHG emissions. In order to benchmark and quantify such reduction potentials, a dynamic model has been built to characterize the generation and flow of FW and treatment associated GHG emissions in China from 2001 to 2040. Our results show that the total FW generation from household and catering sectors reached 170 ± 30 Mt in 2018 and will steadily increase to approximately 220 ± 42 Mt by 2040. Accordingly, the FW treatment related GHG emissions reached 137 ± 26 Mt CO2e in 2018 and would rise to approximately 180 Mt±33 CO2e by 2040 if waste management continues with the current pattern in a Business As Usual (BAU) scenario. Compared to the BAU scenario, the scenarios subject to AD technology implementation (from conservative to optimistic) could significantly reduce GHG emissions and ensure a proportional contri- bution of this sector to China’s national emission reduction goal (55% by 2025 and 65% by 2030 compared to 2005). Specifically, a cumulative amount of approximately 1.9 Bt CO2e could be mitigated between 2019 and 2040 under the optimistic scenario (with 60%, 80%, and 80%, respectively, of household food waste, catering food waste, and waste cooking oil treated by AD). These findings could not only inform evidence-based policy making to facilitate the waste-to-energy development for FW treatment in China, but also shed light on the sustainable FW management and AD technology implementation in other developing countries.© 2020 Elsevier Ltd. 4 Entrepreneurship and the sustainable bioeconomy transformation
کارآفرینی و تحول پایدار اقتصاد زیستی-2020
Governments worldwide have formulated visions of a transition toward a bio-based economy (bioeconomy). These visions to move beyond the exploitation of fossil resources complement the United Nation’s sustainability goals such as climate change mitigation. Different factors will shape and foster the successful transition to a knowledge-based bioeconomy; among those factors, entrepreneurial activity is especially promising. Therefore, this study examines the enabling and transformational role of entrepreneurship by conducting a structured literature review and thematic analysis to elicit the implicit views on entrepreneurs and their ventures found in the bio- economy literature. The review identifies three major entrepreneurial themes addressed in the literature that are included in a holistic framework comprising entrepreneurial activity on the micro level, entrepreneurial ecosystems (or clusters and innovation systems) on the meso level, and governmental vision and support on the macro level. Suggestions for further research on the interface of entrepreneurship and the bioeconomy are also provided.

5 On-road vehicle emissions and their control in China: A review and outlook
انتشار گازهای وسایل نقلیه و کنترل آنها در چین: بررسی و چشم انداز-2017
The large (26-fold over the past 25 years) increase in the on-road vehicle fleet in China has raised sustainability concerns regarding air pollution prevention, energy conservation, and climate change mitigation. China has established integrated emission control policies and measures since the 1990s, including implementation of emission standards for new vehicles, inspection and maintenance programs for in-use vehicles, improvement in fuel quality, promotion of sustainable transportation and alternative fuel vehicles, and traffic management pro grams. As a result, emissions of major air pollutants from on-road vehicles in China have peaked and are now de clining despite increasing vehicle population. As might be expected, progress in addressing vehicle emissions has not always been smooth and challenges such as the lack of low sulfur fuels, frauds over production conformity and in-use inspection tests, and unreliable retrofit programs have been encountered. Considering the high emission density from vehicles in East China, enhanced vehicle, fuel and transportation strategies will be required to address vehicle emissions in China. We project the total vehicle population in China to reach 400–500 million by 2030. Serious air pollution problems in many cities of China, in particular high ambient PM2.5 concentration, have led to pressure to accelerate the progress on vehicle emission reduction. A notable example is the draft China 6 emission standard released in May 2016, which contains more stringent emission limits than those in the Euro 6 regulations, and adds a real world emission testing protocol and a 48-h evaporation testing procedure including diurnal and hot soak emis sions. A scenario (PC[1]) considered in this study suggests that increasingly stringent standards for vehicle emis sions could mitigate total vehicle emissions of HC, CO, NOX and PM2.5 in 2030 by approximately 39%, 57%, 59% and 79%, respectively, compared with 2013 levels. With additional actions to control the future light-duty passenger vehicle population growth and use, and introduce alternative fuels and new energy vehicles, the China total ve hicle emissions of HC, CO, NOX and PM2.5 in 2030 could be reduced by approximately 57%, 71%, 67% and 84%, re spectively, (the PC[2] scenario) relative to 2013. This paper provides detailed policy roadmaps and technical options related to these future emission reductions for governmental stakeholders.

6 Is the supply chain ready for the green transformation? The case of offshore wind logistics
آیا زنجیره تامین برای تحول سبز آماده است؟ مورد تدارکات بادی دریایی-2017
The transition from fossil fuel-based energy systems to renewable energy systems is a cornerstone of the green transformation to decarbonize our economic systems and mitigate climate change. Given the urgency of effective climate change mitigation, renewable energy diffusion needs to accelerate drastically. Among the many constraints to renewable energy diffusion, the important role of the supply chain is often overlooked. Therefore, this article addresses the role of the supply chain in the renewable energy diffusion process. Using the offshore wind energy sector as a case, this article presents an analysis of supply chain readiness to ascertain the role of the supply chain in the green transformation. Examining Europe and China mainly within offshore wind logistics, the research findings show that this segment of the supply chain constitutes a key bottleneck for accelerated deployment. For Europe, the key findings indicate that legislation for offshore wind beyond 2020 is necessary to ensure the implementation of the required investments in logistics assets, transport equipment, and personnel. In China, the key findings indicate that the Chinese supply chain of wind energy is mainly organized around onshore wind. Key bottlenecks exist, predominantly in logistics, and this article identifies specific areas of the supply chain where international collaboration and knowledge transfer may speed up deployment.

7 Exploring the current status and key determinants of corporate disclosure on climate change: Evidence from the Greek business sector
بررسی وضعیت فعلی و عوامل اصلی افشای شرکت های بزرگ در تغییر آب و هوا: شواهدی از بخش کسب و کار یونانی-2016
An increasing number of large corporations around the world engage in accounting for and reporting on their plans and measures towards climate change mitigation, as part of their environmental responsibility agenda. Using a disclosure index, this study contributes to the discussion of enhancing climate change corporate disclosures and informs the limited research assessing such information provision by companies operating in countries of the Southeastern European region. It explores the status of the disclosure practices of the largest 100 firms operating in Greece with respect to the pivotal issue of climate change mitigation and sheds light on determinants that drive domestic companies to publicly disclose such information. The analysis suggests that only a small group of leading Greek companies appears to endorse a climate change discourse as an instrument of empowering stakeholders’ decision-making. Relying on ordered logit regression specifications, we find that subscription to externally-developed voluntary initiatives, international presence well as operating in environmentally sensitive sectors, are significant variables that positively affect climate change disclosure. In contrast, size has a positive yet negligible effect while sector, profitability and type of ownership seem to have no significant influence.© 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

8 An exploration of intervention options to enhance the management of supply chain greenhouse gas emissions in the UK
مشاهده بررسی گزینه های مداخله به منظور ارتقاء مدیریت زنجیره تامین انتشار گازهای گلخانه ای در انگلستان-2016
The management of greenhouse gas emissions (GHGEs) within the supply chains of large organisations is receiving increasing attention as a way to achieve climate mitigation objectives.Climate mitigation policy for direct GHGEs and organisations role in managing environmental impacts within supply chains is well covered in the literature. However, the targeting of indirect GHGE from the supply chain, and the intervention options that exist are still underdeveloped, especially in terms of information and informal based interventions, or support and capacity building approaches.Interview data was collected on the supply chain GHGE management actions of large supply chain leading organisations in the UK such as brand companies and public sector organisations. This is used to construct framework through which an initial and exploratory assessment of the efficacy and likely impacts of a range of interventions, designed to increase levels of supply chain GHGE management by supply chain leading organisations, is conducted. It is demonstrates that the management of indirect GHGEs could form an additional strategy for climate mitigation objectives, with information based options representing a good option for policymakers.© 2015 Elsevier Ltd. 10 Linking climate change mitigation and coastal eutrophication management through biogas technology: Evidence from a new Danish bioenergy concept
لینک کردن کاهش تغییرات اقلیمی و مدیریت انباشت ساحلی از طریق فن آوری بیوگاز: شواهدی از یک مفهوم جدید انرژی زیستی دانمارکی-2016
The interest in sustainable bioenergy solutions has gained great importance in Europe due to the need to reduce GHG emissions and to meet environmental policy targets, not least for the protection of groundwater and surface water quality. In the Municipality of Solrød in Denmark, a novel bioenergy concept for anaerobic co-digestion of food industry residues, manure and beach-cast seaweed has been developed and tested in order to quantify the potential for synergies between climate change mitigation and coastal eutrophication management in the Køge Bay catchment. The biogas plant, currently under construction, was designed to handle an annual input of up to 200,000 t of biomass based on four main fractions: pectin wastes, carrageenan wastes, manure and beach-cast seaweed. This paper describes how this bioenergy concept can contribute to strengthening the linkages between climate change mitigation strategies and Water Framework Directive (WFD) action planning. Our assessments of the projected biogas plant indicate an annual reduction of GHG emissions of approx. 40,000 t CO2 equivalents, corresponding to approx. 1/3 of current total GHG emissions in the Municipality of Solrød. In addition, nitrogen and phosphorous loads to Køge Bay are estimated to be reduced by approx. 63 t yr.−1 and 9 t yr.−1, respectively, contributing to the achievement of more than 70% of the nutrient reduction target set for Køge Bay in the first WFD river basin management plan. This study shows that anaerobic co-digestion of the specific food industry residues, pig manure and beach-cast seaweed is feasible and that there is a very significant, cost-effective GHG* Corresponding author at: Roskilde University, Department of Environmental, Social and Spatial Change, Universitetsvej 1, P.O.
