1 Cryptographic construction using coupled map lattice as a diffusion model to enhanced security

In this study, a new color image encryption model that uses an intertwining logistic map based confu- sion mechanism and coupled map lattice based diffusion process. It incorporates mixing based on pseudo random number generator to ensure shuffling incase of same pixels, intertwining logistic map based con- fusion mechanism enhance the key sensitivity in the model. Finally, Couple map lattice based diffusion is utilized in the model to change the pixels in a way that even one-bit change in a pixel of plain image leads to a change in large number of pixels of the cipher image. The proposed encryption method en- hance the security and results in better Number of pixel change rate (NPCR) and Unified average change intensity (UACI) scores. The correlation among the pixels of cipher image is reduced to be negligible. Corresponding results suggest that the proposed model is highly secure as compared with chaos based algorithms for image encryption application.

2 Asymmetric color cryptosystem using chaotic Ushiki map and equal modulus decomposition in fractional Fourier transform domains

A single channel optical asymmetric cryptosystem for color image in fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) domain is presented. Instead of commonly used RGB channels encryption system, the color image is encoded into grayscale format and encrypted in a single optical channel system. For the design of asymmetric approach, the effective trapdoor one-way function is calculated by employing equal modulus decomposition (EMD). To enhance the security of the proposed cryptosystem, the Ushiki chaotic system is performed to generate the random phase mask in FrFT and a random sequence for scrambling the private key. The sensitive initial values and chaotic data can be regarded as the additional keys and public key. Various numerical experiments are given to verify the validity and capability of the proposed color cryptosystem.

3 On symmetric color image encryption system with permutation-diffusion simultaneous operation

In the traditional image encryption systems, the permutation-diffusion operation is often conducted in two es- sentially separable or independent steps, which appears not only to be inefficient but also vulnerable in being attacked since each step can be targeted separately. In this paper, we propose a new plaintext-related cryptosys- tem in which the permutation-diffusion operation is performed in a simultaneous manner. More specifically, the simultaneous permutation-diffusion operation (PDSO) leads to the confusion and diffusion interacted each other, and thus generates better security level as well as higher efficiency of encryption process. The proposed encryp- tion scheme only requires a single PDSO in the corresponding encryption process, in which the first encrypted pixel’s position in cipher image is randomly chosen and its value is determined by both pixels in the original image and the elements in key-streams obtained by three one-dimensional chaotic mappings, and the current encrypting pixel’s value is set to be associated with the previous encrypted pixel. Under our framework, the proposed encryption scheme is highly sensitive to minor differences in both secret key and plain image, result- ing in resisting chosen/known plaintext attacks effectively. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme demonstrates excellent security capacity with high efficiency, comparing with existing approaches in literature.

4 Optical single-channel color image asymmetric cryptosystem based on hyperchaotic system and random modulus decomposition in Gyrator domains

An enhanced optical single-channel asymmetric cryptosystem for color image is proposed by using hyperchaotic system and random modulus decomposition (RMD) in gyrator domains. For increasing the security of the encryp- tion scheme, a novel 4D four-winged hyperchaotic system is utilized to generate several hyperchaotic phases in the encryption approach. Subsequently, the RMD is implemented to obtain the effective trapdoor one-way func- tion in the asymmetric process. Finally, a scrambling encoding algorithm is designed to combine and randomize the intermediate and hyperchaotic data, and the result can be regarded as the ciphertext and private key of the cryptosystem. In the decryption approach, the ciphertext and private key are imported into the input plane of gyrator transform. In fact, the proposed cryptosystem is also applicable in information authentication since the hyperchaotic data is prerequisite both in encryption and decryption approaches. Various numerical simulations are made to demonstrate the validity and capability of the proposed cryptosystem.

5 The 3D modular chaotic map to digital color image encryption

The cryptography is one of the important security mechanisms for the confidentiality, integrity and authentication of text and multimedia data. This study proposes a five-step color images encryption method in 3D space based on substitution and permutation operations for diffusion and confusion properties. To transform the image to a 3D space, in the first step, the red, green, and blue spectra of the color image are subdivided into the sub-images, in this case the rows, columns, and the number of sub-images are specified in 3D axis coordinates for carrying out 3D substitution and permutation operations. In the second and fifth steps of encryption, 3D substitution operations are performed by using logical exclusive OR and circular shift operators on the sub-images pixels. In the middle steps, the permutation operations of sub-images pixels are accomplished with the help of 3D permutation and 3D modular chaotic map. The 3D modular chaotic presented in this research is multiplicative reversible based on modular arithmetic, which improves speed, period, and space of the key. The proposed method, with the help of permutations and substitutions in 3D space, improves the performance parameters and increases the key space in comparison to other image cryptography researches.
