11 Digital interoperability in logistics and supply chain management: state-of-the-art and research avenues towards Physical Internet

Interoperability is playing an increasing role for today’s logistics and supply chain management (LSCM) because of the trends of cooperation or coopetition. Especially, digital interoperability concerning data or information exchange becomes a key enabler for the next evolutions that will massively rely upon digitalization, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems. The notion of Physical Internet (PI) is one such evolution, an innovative worldwide logistic paradigm aimed at interconnecting and coordinating logistics networks for efficiency and sustainability. This paper investigates how digital interoperability can help interconnect logistics and supply networks as well as the operational solutions for sustainable development, and examines the new challenges and research opportunities for digital interoperability under the PI paradigm. To this end, we study the most relevant technologies for digital interoperability in LSCM, via a bibliometric analysis based on 208 papers published during 2010−2020. The results reveal that the present state-of-the-art solutions of digital interoperability are not fully aligned with PI requirements and show new challenges, research gaps and opportunities that need further discussion. Accordingly, several research avenues are suggested to advance research and applications in this area, and to achieve interconnection in logistics and supply networks for sustainability.

12 Evaluation on risks of sustainable supply chain based on optimized BP neural networks in fresh grape industry
ارزیابی خطرات زنجیره تأمین پایدار بر اساس شبکه های عصبی بهینه شده BP در صنعت انگور تازه-2021
In order to improve the risk evaluation and management in fresh grape supply chain and enhance the sustainable level of the supply chain, this study applied neural network to evaluate the risk of fresh grape supply chain from the perspective of sustainable development. Firstly, the possible risk factors in the supply chain were identified and the risk evaluation index system were proposed; then risk evaluation models based on single BP and optimized BP (GABP and PSO-BP) neural network were established; and then the models were trained, tested and evaluated using data set from supply chain survey. The survey and analysis results showed that the risk of fresh grape supply chain was at a low level but the risk in each link was discrepant, the biggest risk was the risks among the links in the chain (R0), and the high risk dimensions were the economic risk, social risk and cooperation risk; most risky events were located in the second quadrant (small probability & high damage risk events). The results of models training and testing indicated that the optimized model was superior to single BP neural network for risk assessment in grape sustainable supply chain, and the PSO-BP model was more accurate and suitable with less evaluation errors and a bigger R2. The results also extracted the risk factors that contributed most to the overall risk of grape sustainable supply chain. This paper enriches the method of supply chain risk assessment theoretically, and provides practical suggestions for risk prevention, stable operation and sustainability improvement of fresh grape supply chain.

بسیاری از محققان تلاش کرده اند شرح دهند کدام عوامل بر مزیت رقابت آمیز پایدار تاثیر می گذارند. بدین منظور، این مقاله به ادبیات بازاریابی و مدیریت هتلداری افزوده و شواهد تجربی مبنی بر نحوه تاثیر سرمایه انسانی، توانایی بازاریابی پویا و پویایی بازار بر مزیت رقابت آمیز در بخش هتداری فراهم می سازد. داده های نظرسنجی مقطعی را از مدیران فروش و بازاریابی 165 هتل با مصاحبه مفصل در سه هتل واقع در کشورهای شورای همکاری خلیج مشتمل بر عربستان سعودی، قطر، امارات و بحرین جمع آوری کردیم. یافته ها نشان داد که سرمایه انسانی به طور مستقیم و غیرمستقیم از طریق توانمندی بازاریابی پویا نقش اساسی در گسترش مزیت رقابت آمیز ایفا می کند. برای مفهوم سازی این نقش، تحقیق ما نشان می دهد که پویایی بازار در رابطه بین سرمایه انسانی و مزیت رقابتی از طریق توانمندی بازار مداخله می کند. مفاهیم نظری و مدیریتی را برای گسترش مزیت رقابتی در بخش هتل مطرح می کنیم.

14 A data management framework for strategic urban planning using blue-green infrastructure

Spatial planning of Blue-Green Infrastructure (BGI) should ideally be based on well-evaluated and context specific solutions. One important obstacle to reach this goal relates to adequate provisioning of data to ensure good governance of BGI, i.e., appropriate planning, design, construction, and maintenance. This study explores the gap between data availability and implementation of BGI in urban planning authorities in Sweden. A multi method approach including brainstorming, semi-structured interviews with urban planners and experts on BGI and Geographical Information System (GIS), and validating workshops were performed to develop a framework for structured and user-friendly data collection and use. Identified challenges concern data availability, data management, and GIS knowledge. There is a need to improve the organisation of data management and the skills of trans-disciplinary cooperation to better understand and interpret different types of data. Moreover, different strategic goals require different data to ensure efficient planning of BGI. This calls for closer interactions between development of strategic political goals and data collection. The data management framework consists of three parts: A) Ideal structure of data management in relation to planning process, data infrastructure and organisa- tional structure, and B) A generic list of data needed, and C) The development of structures for data gathering and access. We conclude that it is essential to develop pan-municipal data management systems that bridge sectors and disciplines to ensure efficient management of the urban environment, and which is able to support the involvement of citizens to collect and access relevant data. The framework can assist in such development.

15 A knowledge-intensive adaptive business process management framework

Business process management has been the driving force of optimization and operational efficiency for companies until now, but the digitalization era we have been experiencing requires businesses to be agile and responsive as well. In order to be a part of this digital transformation, delivering new levels of automation-fueled agility through digitalization of BPM itself is required. However, the automation of BPM cannot be achieved by solely focusing on process space and classical planning techniques. It requires a holistic approach that also captures the social aspects of the business environment, such as corporate strategies, organization policies, negotiations, and cooperation. For this purpose, we combine BPM, knowledge-intensive systems and intelligent agent technologies, and yield one consolidated intelligent business process management framework, namely agileBPM, that governs the entire BPM life-cycle. Accordingly, agileBPM proposes a modeling methodology to semantically capture the business interests, enterprise environment and process space in accordance with the agent-oriented software engineering paradigm. The proposed agent-based process execution environment provides cognitive capabilities (such as goal-driven planning, norm compliance, knowledge-driven actions, and dynamic cooperation) on top of the developed business models to support knowledge workers’ multicriteria decision making tasks. The context awareness and exception handling capabilities of the proposed approach have been presented with experimental studies. Through comparative evaluations, it is shown that agileBPM is the most comprehensive knowledge-intensive process management solution.

16 Lessons learned for collaborative approaches to management when faced with diverse stakeholder groups in a rebuilding fishery

There is increasing demand within fisheries management for the adoption of management approaches that incorporate in-depth stakeholder participation, scientific uncertainty, multiple objectives, and characterizations of risk. One such approach—management strategy evaluation (MSE)—relies on participation with fishery in- terest groups to consolidate knowledge of the fishery system, define goals, and evaluate feasible management options. However, the focus of much of the literature on MSE emphasizes steps in implementation and its practical application, despite the fact that technical aspects of MSE have the potential to alienate participants without MSE experience. Using the Units 1 and 2 Canadian Atlantic redfish fishery as a case study, we here describe lessons learned from the MSE developed for this rebuilding fishery, focusing on four key challenges: identifying participants for MSE processes; clearly defining their roles; educating participants on the purpose, benefits, and scope of MSE; and mediating disagreements to acquire critical cooperation, inputs, and feedback from the different stakeholder groups within the MSE process.

17 Willingness-to-cede behaviour in sustainable supply chain coordination

: Willingness-to-cede (WTC) profit behaviours for the purpose of effective cooperation have increasingly emerged as a best practice in competitive supply chain environments; however, this has been complicated by sustainability issues. Inspired by this fact, we study normative prescriptions and models that can be used to coordinate sustainable supply chains considering supply chain leaders’ WTC behaviour. Along this line, we adopt a multi-methodological approach and carry out a two-stage analysis of a three-player duopoly supply chain (SDSC) with a leader (i.e., the focal firm) and two competitive followers who provide sustainable products or services. In the first stage, we adopt a non-cooperative game to characterize the interactions within five non-cooperative and cooperative models. In the second stage, to coordinate the SDSC, we first derive the characteristic functions from the equilibrium results of the five models and then revise the classical equal allocation of the non-separable contribution (EANSC) value by incorporating the leader’s WTC behavioural parameter. This revised EANSC value serves as a novel solution and thereby enhances the scientific value of the cooperative game theoretical approach. Analytical and numerical studies show that under conditions in which the leader has power and is willing to cede, the optimal coordinated solutions can be obtained when both sustainability competition and the WTC are at a low level; leaders are not willing to cede profits if sustainability competition is high due to product substitutability between two followers. This research illustrates how behavioural theory and non-cooperative and cooperative game theory can be sufficiently modified and adopted to advance supply chain-level cooperation for sustainability. We further carry out a survey and interviews to provide empirical evidence to support our findings.

18 A grapevine leaves dataset for early detection and classification of esca disease in vineyards through machine learning

Esca is one of the most common disease that can severely damage grapevine. This disease, if not properly treated in time, is the cause of vegetative stress or death of the attacked plant, with the consequence of losses in production as well as a rising risk of propagation to the closer grapevines. Nowadays, the detection of Esca is carried out manually through visual surveys usually done by agronomists, requiring enormous amount of time. Recently, image processing, computer vision and machine learning methods have been widely adopted for plant diseases classification. These methods can minimize the time spent for anomaly detection ensuring an early detection of Esca disease in grapevine plants that helps in preventing it to spread in the vineyards and in minimizing the financial loss to the wine producers. In this article, an image dataset of grapevine leaves is presented. The dataset holds grapevine leaves images belonging to two classes: unhealthy leaves acquired from plants affected by Esca disease and healthy leaves. The data presented has been collected to be used in a research project jointly developed by the Department of Information Engineering, Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy and the STMicroelectronics, Italy, under the cooperation of the Umani Ronchi SPA winery, Osimo, Ancona, Marche, Italy. The dataset could be helpful to researchers who use machine learning and computer vision algorithms to develop applications that help agronomists in early detection of grapevine plant diseases.

19 Emission reduction decision of agricultural supply chain considering carbon tax and investment cooperation

As the core of civilian production and an indispensable part of the national economy, the agricultural industry plays a role in many aspects, but it also generates a large amount of carbon emissions that are harmful to the environment. A game model is established to compare the optimal decisions and profits of retailers under three situations: whether to invest in emission reduction for manufacturers or not, and whether to invest in emission reduction under decentralized decision-making or centralized decision- making. The results show that when manufacturers cooperate with retailers, with the increase of in- vestment proportion, carbon emission reduction, market demand, manufacturer’s profit and retail price show an upward trend, while retailer’s profit decreases. However, when manufacturers and retailers form a centralized supply chain, the overall profit of the supply chain can be improved. Therefore, when manufacturers and retailers cooperate to form a centralized supply chain, the supply chain can be optimized to achieve the dual objectives of protecting the environment and increasing profits.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. 20 Organizing external stakeholder engagement in inter-organizational projects: Opening the black box

External stakeholder engagement is crucial for delivering value to diverse stakeholders in inter-organizational projects, however, it is not straightforward to organize this in a way that adds value. The intra-organizational focus of previous research offers limited insights into the relevant roles, responsibilities, arrangements and activities in inter-organizational contexts. Moreover, comprehensive empirical studies of the phenomenon are rare. This study explicates how internal stakeholders organize external stakeholder engagement in inter-organizational projects. Our multiple-case study of two infrastructure projects in Northern Europe identified three organizing solutions based on governance, values and dynamism. While governance-based solutions provide an overall structure for organizing external stakeholder engagement, value-based solutions ensure genuine cooperation and dynamism-based solutions facilitate timely organizing. The study develops propositions that constitute a model of how external stakeholder engagement can be organized in inter-organizational projects. The findings have implications for project stakeholder management and mainstream stakeholder research.
