بسیاری از محققان تلاش کرده اند شرح دهند کدام عوامل بر مزیت رقابت آمیز پایدار تاثیر می گذارند. بدین منظور، این مقاله به ادبیات بازاریابی و مدیریت هتلداری افزوده و شواهد تجربی مبنی بر نحوه تاثیر سرمایه انسانی، توانایی بازاریابی پویا و پویایی بازار بر مزیت رقابت آمیز در بخش هتداری فراهم می سازد. داده های نظرسنجی مقطعی را از مدیران فروش و بازاریابی 165 هتل با مصاحبه مفصل در سه هتل واقع در کشورهای شورای همکاری خلیج مشتمل بر عربستان سعودی، قطر، امارات و بحرین جمع آوری کردیم. یافته ها نشان داد که سرمایه انسانی به طور مستقیم و غیرمستقیم از طریق توانمندی بازاریابی پویا نقش اساسی در گسترش مزیت رقابت آمیز ایفا می کند. برای مفهوم سازی این نقش، تحقیق ما نشان می دهد که پویایی بازار در رابطه بین سرمایه انسانی و مزیت رقابتی از طریق توانمندی بازار مداخله می کند. مفاهیم نظری و مدیریتی را برای گسترش مزیت رقابتی در بخش هتل مطرح می کنیم.

این تحقیق به بررسی رابطه هزینه-نتیجه اقدامات بازاریابی جاذبه ای مورد استفاده تجارت الکترونیکی خواروبار می پردازد. این تحلیل بر اساس به کارگیری مدل درفمن و استینر (1954) برای بودجه تبلیغات بهینه است که مولفین آن را با بازاریابی دیجیتال تطبیق می دهند و با تحلیل آماری تجاری تایید میکنند. با توجه به 29 شرکت عمده در شش کشور در افق زمانی شش سال، تحلیل ترکیبی تکنیک های بهینه سازی موتور جستجو و بازاریابی موتور جستجو هدف جذب کارکنان به صفحات وب شرکت ها را دنبال می کند. نتایج تایید می کند که تجارت الکترونیکی بازاریابی جاذبه ای دیجیتال را بهینه سازی می کند. تفاوت ها بسته به نوع فرمت و سطح کشور فرق دارند.

3 Know when to fold ‘em: An empirical description of risk management in public research funding

Public research funding programs typically make grants with minimal intervention by program staff, rather than using a hands-on approach to project management, which is more common in the private sector. In contrast, program staff at the US Department of Energys Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) are given a set of real options with which to manage funded projects: abandon, contract or expand project budgets or timelines. Using internal data from ARPA-E, we show that active project management enables risk mitigation across a portfolio of research projects. We find that program staff modify projects frequently, especially project timelines, and these changes are more sensitive to poor performance than to strong performance. We also find that projects with a shortened timeline or reduced budget are less likely to generate short-term research outputs, compared to those of ultimately similar size. This evidence suggests that the practice of active project management, when combined with high upfront risk tolerance, can be used to enhance the productivity of missionoriented public research funding.

4 Supporting entrepreneurs : A systematic review of literature and an agenda for research

Entrepreneurship has become a cornerstone of economic development. The public awareness of this phenomenon spurred great interest from the academic community and policy makers alongside the creation of a vast range of entrepreneurship support initiatives. We conduct a systematic review of 122 academic articles published during a thirty year period between 1985–2015 that help to identify a series of theoretical, empirical, and practical gaps that form the basis of a research agenda. For instance, there is a shortage of conceptual articles and few empirical studies generating theoretical contributions; samples are small and idiosyncratic; context is rarely considered; and that mechanisms of ES are largely unknown. We propose that ES should develop along four main themes that ameliorate these exposed gaps: acknowledge and understand the heterogeneity of entrepreneurs and new ventures; apply existing theories to ES; improve methods and research design; and integrate ES into the ecosystem of support.

5 Forecasting third-party mobile payments with implications for customer flow prediction

Forecasting customer flow is key for retailers in making daily operational decisions, but small retailers often lack the resources to obtain such forecasts. Rather than forecasting stores’ total customer flows, this research utilizes emerging third-party mobile payment data to provide participating stores with a value-added service by forecasting their share of daily customer flows. These customer transactions using mobile payments can then be utilized further to derive retailers’ total customer flows indirectly, thereby overcoming the constraints that small retailers face. We propose a third-party mobile-paymentplatform centered daily mobile payments forecasting solution based on an extension of the newly-developed Gradient Boosting Regression Tree (GBRT) method which can generate multi-step forecasts for many stores concurrently. Using empirical forecasting experiments with thousands of time series, we show that GBRT, together with a strategy for multi-period-ahead forecasting, provides more accurate forecasts than established benchmarks. Pooling data from the platform across stores leads to benefits relative to analyzing the data individually, thus demonstrating the value of this machine learning application.

6 Historical AIS Data-Driven Unsupervised Automatic Extraction of Directional Maritime Traffic Networks

Vessel experience route analysis can provide empirical support for maritime traffic management. Recently, the application of the Automatic Identification System (AIS) provides multi-dimensional data about voyages and vessels. However, traditional route extraction methods do not take into account information such as the vessel traffic pattern and the density distribution in the channel. The experience routes obtained is not accurate enough. This paper proposes an unsupervised method for extracting vessel experience routes from historical AIS data. The method consists of three parts: vessel traffic pattern extraction, channel boundary extraction, channel triangle network construction and hottest route extraction. The method comprehensively considers the spatiotemporal information and density distribution of the vessel trajectories, and constructs a directional maritime traffic network which can effectively convert historical data into information supporting decision-making.

7 A new hybrid ensemble deep reinforcement learning model for wind speed short term forecasting

Wind speed forecasting is a promising solution to improve the efficiency of energy utilization. In this study, a novel hybrid wind speed forecasting model is proposed. The whole modeling process of the proposed model consists of three steps. In stage I, the empirical wavelet transform method reduces the non-stationarity of the original wind speed data by decomposing the original data into several subseries. In stage II, three kinds of deep networks are utilized to build the forecasting model and calculate prediction results of all sub-series, respectively. In stage III, the reinforcement learning method is used to combine three kinds of deep networks. The forecasting results of each sub-series are combined to obtain the final forecasting results. By comparing all the results of the predictions over three different types of wind speed series, it can be concluded that: (a) the proposed reinforcement learning based ensemble method is effective in integrating three kinds of deep network and works better than traditional optimization based ensemble method; (b) the proposed ensemble deep reinforcement learning based wind speed prediction model can get accurate results in all cases and provide the best accuracy compared with sixteen alternative models and three state-of-the-art models.

8 Efficient sizing and optimization of multirotor drones based on scaling laws and similarity models

In contrast to the current overall aircraft design techniques, the design of multirotor vehicles generally consists of skill-based selection procedures or is based on pure empirical approaches. The application of a systemic approach provides better design performance and the possibility to rapidly assess the effect of changes in the requirements. This paper proposes a generic and efficient sizing methodology for electric multirotor vehicles which allows to optimize a configuration for different missions and requirements. Starting from a set of algebraic equations based on scaling laws and similarity models, the optimization problem representing the sizing can be formulated in many manners. The proposed methodology shows a significant reduction in the number of function evaluations in the optimization process due to a thorough suppression of inequality constraints when compared to initial problem formulation. The results are validated by comparison to characteristics of existing multirotors. In addition, performance predictions of these configurations are performed for different flight scenarios and payloads.

9 Energy costs information in manufacturing companies: A systematic literature review

Accurate, detailed, and up-to-date information on energy costs is crucial for energy management in manufacturing companies. Yet, to what extent is such energy costs information actually available and used? This study reviews empirical information provided in papers published in research journals about the availability and use of energy costs information in manufacturing companies. The study aims to focus both on energy-intensive companies as well as non-energy-intensive companies, and also to distinguish between the practices of small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) vs. large companies. The literature review covers 23 journals in the fields of business, accounting, energy, and engineering, leading to the final sample that includes 51 papers for the analysis. Most studies in this sample concern energyintensive and large companies. The most striking result is that with only few exceptions, almost no studies provide a nuanced description of how measuring and allocating energy costs is being done. For example, almost no studies investigate specific cost allocation bases, the accuracy of cost allocations, or differentiation between first-stage allocation and second-stage allocation. Nevertheless, the overall impression is that many manufacturing companies resort to imprecise methods for measuring and allocating energy costs. They seem to lack much of the cost information necessary for energy management, such as information needed for improving energy efficiency, evaluating energy efficiency improvement investments, and holding managers accountable for energy efficiency.

10 City limits in the age of smartphones and urban scaling

Urban planning still lacks appropriate standards to define city boundaries across urban systems. This issue has historically been left to administrative criteria, which can vary significantly across countries and political systems, hindering a comparative analysis across urban systems. However, the wide use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has now allowed the development of new quantitative approaches to unveil how social dynamics relates to urban infrastructure. In fact, ICT provide the potential to portray more accurate descriptions of the urban systems based on the empirical analysis of millions of traces left by urbanites across the city. In this work, we apply computational techniques over a large volume of mobile phone records to define urban boundaries, through the analysis of travel patterns and the trajectory of urban dwellers in conurbations with more than 100,000 inhabitants in Chile. We created and analyzed the network of interconnected places inferred from individual travel trajectories. We then ranked each place using a spectral centrality method. This allowed to identify places of higher concurrency and functional importance for each urban environment. Urban scaling analysis is finally used as a diagnostic tool that allowed to distinguish urban from non-urban spaces. The geographic assessment of our method shows a high congruence with the current and administrative definitions of urban agglomerations in Chile. Our results can potentially be considered as a functional definition of the urban boundary. They also provide a practical implementation of urban scaling and data-driven approaches on cities as complex systems using increasingly larger non-conventional datasets.
