1 Remote measurement of building usable floor area – Algorithms fusion

Rapid changes that are taking place in the urban environment have significant impact on urban growth. Most cities and urban regions all over the world compete to increase resident and visitor satisfaction. The growing requirements and rapidity of introducing new technologies to all aspects of residents’ lives force cities and urban regions to implement "smart cities" concepts in their activities. Real estate is one of the principal anthropogenic components of urban environment thus become a subject of thorough multidisciplinary analysis in the field of data requiring spatial information systems. Recent advances in information technology, combined with the increased availability of high-resolution imagery from Earth observation, create an opportunity to use new sources of data that enable to identify, monitor, and solved many of urban environmental problem. The aim of the paper is to elaborate precise, complete and detailed property information with the use of remote sensing observations in a suitable numerical algorithm. The authors concentrate on providing one of the most important, and probably the most lacking, feature describing properties – building usable floor area (BUFA). The solution is elaborated in the form of an automatic algorithm based on machine learning and computer vision technology related to LiDAR (big data), close range images with respect to spatial information systems requirements. The obtained results related to BUFA estimation in comparison to the state-of-the-art results are satisfactory and may increase the reliability of decision-making in investment, fiscal, registration and planning aspects.

2 Prediction of the ground temperature with ANN, LS-SVM and fuzzy LS-SVM for GSHP application

Ground source heat pump (GSHP) system has received more and more attentions for its energy-conserving and environmental-friendly properties. Acquisition of the undisturbed ground temperature is the prerequisite for designing of GSHP system. Measurement by burying temperature sensors underground is the conventional means for obtaining the ground temperature data. However, this way is usually time consuming and high investment, and also easily encounter with certain technical difficulties. The rapid development of intelligent computation algorithm provides solutions for many realistic difficult problems. Basing on a great number of the measured data of the ground temperature from two boreholes with 100m depth located in Chongqing, ground temperature prediction models basing on artificial neural network (ANN) and support vector machine based on least square (LS-SVM) are established, respectively. And then, two kinds of validation works, i.e., holdout validation and k-fold validation are conducted toward the two models, respectively. Furthermore, a new method that correlating fuzzy theory with LS-SVM is proposed to solve the big computation burden problem encountered by LS-SVM model. By comparing with the above two models, it is concluded that the newly proposed model can not only improve the calculation speed obviously but also be able to promote the prediction accuracy, especially superior to the single LS-SVM model.

3 A new similarity/distance measure between intuitionistic fuzzy sets based on the transformed isosceles triangles and its applications to pattern recognition

Intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) is a representative model of fuzzy theory, and it is widely used to deal with fuzzy and uncertain problems in many practical applications. In IFS theory, the calculation of the distance and similarity between IFSs are significant techniques that are effective measurement methods for dis- tinguishing the similarity degree between IFSs, and the two measures can be used in pattern recognition, decision-making and so on. In this paper, a novel similarity/distance measure between IFSs is proposed according to the intersections of the transformed isosceles triangles from IFSs, and the isosceles triangles are placed in a square area; furthermore, the properties of the proposed measure are also analyzed to prove whether the measure satisfies the definition of the similarity/distance measure for IFSs or not. The numerical experiments are implemented to test the validity of the proposed measure; in addition, several pattern recognition and clustering problems are also employed to further demonstrate its effectiveness. The experimental results show that the proposed measure is an accurate and superior measure that can avoid the shortcomings of most existing measures. Finally, the directions for future research of this work are also represented in the conclusion.

4 A short-term traffic prediction model in the vehicular cyber–physical systems

The advances in Cyber–Physical Systems (CPS), vehicular networks and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) boost a growing interest in the design, development and deployment of Vehicular Cyber–Physical Systems (VCPS) for some emerging applications. As one of the key application for realizing traffic guidance, the traffic prediction could provide better route planning for people and accuracy decision basis for traffic managements. In practice, short-term traffic information has the characteristics of real time, incompleteness, non-linearity and non-stationary, and few proposed methods could successfully implement this forecasting. In this paper, we proposed a fuzzy Markov prediction model which can estimate the short-term traffic conditions in VCPS in urban environment. First, we selected a real-time GPS dataset in the Shanghai Transport Grid Project as our data source for traffic prediction and pre-process this raw dataset to make it consistent with the practical case. Next, we combine the fuzzy theory with Markov progress in the prediction model, and use the continuous three-step average method to reduce the errors caused by the one-step transition. Finally, we choose the speed and traffic flow to express the metrics of traffic state and use the fuzzy reasoning rules to give out the determined traffic state. The simulation results show that our proposed model can be precisely used for the short-term traffic prediction in urban environment.

5 Research on Chinas energy supply and demand using an improved Grey-Markov chain model based on wavelet transform

Energy is an essential foundation for the economic growth and social development of a country. Since the reform and opening up, the economy in China has been in a state of rapid development and the paradox of the energy supply-demand has become increasingly prominent. An improved Grey-Markov chain model based on the wavelet transform is presented in this paper which takes various energy forms into account. The model uses the discrete wavelet transform for denoising, substitutes the extended grey model to the traditional one and introduces the fuzzy theory and metabolic principle into the Markov chain. Then an empirical example of Chinas energy production and consumption data during the period of 1990e2014 were selected as the research objects. Comparing with other methods, the proposed model was proved feasible and valid, and the energy production and consumption situation from 2015 to 2020 was predicted. Besides, the trend of energy supply and demand gap was analyzed as well as the energy structure which utilized the Shannon Wiener index. The results show that in the foreseeable future, the energy supply and demand gap in China will narrow and the energy structure tends to be diversified. Finally some opinions and suggestions are put forward.
