1 Delineating urban hinterland boundaries in the Pearl River Delta: An approach integrating toponym co-occurrence with field strength model

Urban development requires the support of its surrounding areas. Accurate identification of urban hinterlands can help to scientifically evaluate strength and potential of urban development. The field strength model is regarded as an effective way to identify hinterlands, but the revision of friction coefficient has still not reached a consensus. With the application of big data in urban planning, it is possible to improve the field strength model. Toponym co–occurrence data, as a timely data source directly obtained from the Internet, can be used to reflect the spatiotemporal changes in urban connections, and provide an approach to quantifying the friction coefficient for the division of urban hinterlands. In this study, a new approach was developed by integrating toponym co–occurrence and improved field strength model. We considered the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration as a case and identified the urban hinterland of each city. The results showed that the friction coefficient among cities fluctuated within a range of 1.25–2.50, the urban hinterlands were no longer confined to their own administrative divisions, and there was fierce competition with other cities. In particular, the urban hinterland of Guangzhou was 3699 km2 larger than its actual administrative area. In addition, the proposed approach was more reliable in urban hinterland identification compared with the traditional fixed friction coefficient method. This study provides an improved field strength model based on toponym co–occurrence, which can identify urban hinterlands more accurately and objectively as well as promote the application of big data in urban planning.

پایانه های کانتینری به خاطر نیروهایی نظیر اتحادهای استراتژیک، خصوصی سازی، مناطق همپوشان و اپراتورهای پایانه جهانی، با رقابت شدید و محیطی دائماً در حال تغییر مواجه شده اند. برای توجیه هزینه های بالای سرمایه گذاری و بهره برداری و رسیدن به سودآوری، پایانه های کانتینری بایستی به حجم بار رضایت بخشی برسند. عملاً، سرمایه گذاریهای فیزیکی و همکاری میان بنادر راههای فعلی مبارزه بنادر به نیروهای جدید در بازار حمل و نقل کانتینری به حساب می آیند. به علاوه، یکی از عوامل مهم برای بندر جهت تضمین جریانات کافی، وفاداری مشتری می باشد. این مطالعه، تاثیرات تاکتیک های بازاریابی رابطه ای بر شاخص های عملکرد مالی و غیر مالی پایانه های کانتینری را بررسی می کند. داده های مورد نظر از 24 پایانه کانتینری واقع در ترکیه (134 پاسخ) جمع آوری و از طریق مدلسازی معادله ساختاری چند سطحی مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت. براساس یافته های بدست آمده، نتیجه اصلی ما آن است که هرچه بندر تاکتیک های بازاریابی رابطه ای را بیشتر پیاده کند، به همان نسبت کیفیت ارتباط با مشتری بالاتر است، که در ادامه ازآن به عنوان عملکرد ارتباط با مشتری، و متعاقباً عملکرد مالی نام برده می شود.

3 Evolution and optimization of Chinas urban tourism spatial structure: A high speed rail perspective

High-speed rail (HSR) networks in China profoundly altered Chinas urban tourism spatial patterns. This paper examines the characteristics and evolution of spatial patterns of the urban hinterland before and after HSR network. Economic relation model and spatial analysis in ArcGIS were utilized on 338 national prefecture-level administrative units. The results show: (1) HSR strengthens tourism-based economic relationships between cities, and demonstrates a “corridor” effect of the spatial distribution of the change rates of tourism external economic relationships; (2) Center cities with larger tourism comprehensive scale are enhanced with expanding trans-province hinterland; the hinterland of central cities are enlarged, of which spatial linkages between the hinterlands are increased; (3) the competition and difference for the hinterland of central cities are intensified. Based on these, this paper proposes a tourism spatial structure with 19 urban agglomerations, 6 1st-class and 21 2nd -class tourist economic zones, and strategies for optimizing Chinas tourist space.

4 Fuzzy comprehensive evaluation of port-centric supply chain disruption threats
ارزیابی جامع فازی از تهدیدات قطع زنجیره تامین بندر محور-2017
A port with reliable operations and management plays a pivotal role in ensuring supply chain continuity, given the integral role of ports in supply chains nowadays. As supply chain parties are closely linked to each other in todays globalised trade, any disruption at ports will have negative impacts on other supply chain players. This paper evaluates the likelihood and severity of these port-centric supply chain disruption (PSCD) threats using data collected from port operators worldwide through a survey ques tionnaire. The PSCD threats were first identified from existing literature and interviews and subsequently structured into the questionnaire for the respondents to rate these threats likelihood and consequence. The data were analysed using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. Each threat was ranked ac cording to the relative risk value assigned to it. The results show that the combined risk level rated by port operators is between low and medium, with threats pertaining to planning and infrastructure having the greatest contribution to the disruptions, and those related to security the lowest. Congestion within terminals, congestion at hinterland transfer, shortage of facilities or equipment, port equipment breakdown and inadequate port cargo-handling equipment are the key factors in causing disruptions. Indicators are then presented to act as early-detection of these threats to manage supply chain disruptions.

5 Research on Intermodal Terminal Interaction in International Transport Corridors

Maritime and Hinterland terminals enable the transhipment of load units between various modes of transport and play a significant role in intermodal freight transport. The aim of the Thesis was to investigate the opportunities of interface between the intermodal terminals along the East–West and North–South international transport corridors in developing new services/goods. The theoretical-analytic part of the Thesis considers the issues related to the efficiency of interface of the multi-modal transport. Moreover this study discusses functions and role of the intermodal terminals in delivering intermodal units along the international transport corridors. In the Thesis related to the research presents a model (based on the literature analysis and findings of the questionnaire survey) could improve the interface of intermodal terminals along the international transport corridors. Continuation of distribution activity from the sea port terminal via the main terminal (hub) and further to more regions by using the services of containers trains will ensure more effective use of infrastructure (maritime and hinterland terminals). Information and communication technologies make transport services more attractive and viable. By applying the questionnaire survey and evaluating the key factors influencing the effectiveness of the international corridor, the efforts were made to investigate the opportunities of interface of intermodal terminals. In cooperation with all the stakeholders the applied new model could facilitate the development of new services in the international transport corridors.
