1 Improved probit models to assess equipment failure caused by domino effect accounting for dynamic and synergistic effects of multiple fires

Accidents resulting in industrial fires in chemical and process installations and in industrial parks where relevant quantities of hazardous substances are stored or processed may cause domino effects. Probit models developed and used in a multitude of studies can provide the probability of equipment failure, but they do not consider the effect of multiple radiation sources, and thus fail to capture the effects of severe scenarios as those where multiple fires start at different times in different units. In the present study, a critical thermal dose for equipment failure is defined. A direct procedure for the calculation of ttf based on the critical thermal dose is then introduced, which is able to account for the time at which the different secondary fires start or are extinguished. This allows considering the effects of the primary and of several secondary fire scenarios in causing a domino effect, updating the time to failure on the basis of the dynamic evolution of multiple fire scenarios. The proposed approach is demonstrated through case-studies addressing fire-induced domino effects in an oil storage tank farm.

چین بیشترین تعداد پارک های صنعتی را در جهان دارد. این پارکها نه تنها برای تسریع بخشیدن فرایند صنعتی کشور مهم و حیاتی بلکه برای دست یافتن به اهداف تغیرات آب و هوایی خود نیزمهم و حیاتی هستند. ایجاد فهرست انتشار CO2برای پارک صنعتی اولین مرحله در تحلیل الگوهای انتشار پارک و طراحی سیاست های کم کربن می باشد. به هرحال، بیشتر انتشار قبلی برای پارک های صنعتی با اتخاذ حوزه و روش شناسی مختلف محاسبه می شود که با یکدیگر قابل مقایسه نیستند. این مطالعه روش شناسی و چارچوب خودسازگاری را برای پارک های صنعتی چین مبتنی بر داده سطح شرکت توسعه می دهد. ما هر دو حوزه انتشار 1 و2 را بررسی و فهرست ها را با 19 نوع انرژی و 39 بخش صنعتی ایجاد می کنیم که سازگار با فهرست های انتشار از سطح شهر، استانی و کشوری می باشد. چنین فهرست انتشار مبتنی بر بخش نه تنها قادرخواهد بود تا داده های حمایتی برای طراحی سیاستهای کنترل انرژی/انتشار ارائه دهد بلکه به دولت محلی/مرکزی جهت ارزیابی عملکرد کاهش انتشار پارک کمک می کند. سرانجام، مطالعه تجربی برای چهار پارک صنعتی برای تایید این روش اجرا می شود. علاوه براین، ما برنامه های پارک اکو-صنعتی را در کشورهای ژاپن، کره جنوبی و همچنین ساختار حسابداری انتشاری آنها را بررسی می کنیم. متوجه شدیم که بیشتر پارک های صنعتی ژاپن انتشارهایی با حوزه 1،2 و 3 ارائه می دهند درحالیکه برای کره جنوبی، پارک ها اکثرا در انتشار حوزه 1 تمرکز می کنند. بحث اکو-صنعتی پارک های ژاپن و کره جنوبی اهمیت قابل توجهی برای ساخت پارک های کم – کربن چین دارد.

3 Regional integrated energy system energy management in an industrial park considering energy stepped utilization

There are multiple energy demands in industrial parks. The industrial park’s energy system includes a variety of energy sources and energy-consuming equipment, with diverse load types and high reliability requirements for power supplies. And the situation of low energy utilization rates, unreasonable energy structures, great peak-to-valley power differences and the environment pollution needs to be improved. The application of multi-energy complementary regional integrated energy systems (RIES) can improve the performance of the industrial parks. Considering reasonable correspondence between the energy supply and demand in RIES, this paper proposes an RIES energy management strategy based on energy stepped utilization to further minimize the daily cost and make full use of the energy. Additionally, the piecewise linear model of gas turbine is established considering a part load ratio. According to the grade demands, the heat loads are divided into high-grade, middle-grade and low-grade heat loads and the load models are respectively established. The scenario reduction method is used to obtain typical scenarios in order to describe the randomness of weather factors. Finally, the simulation analysis shows that the proposed energy management method for the RIES can arrange the combination of gas turbines and output of devices more flexibly, and a more economical scheduling plan can be provided by this method. The high-grade and middle-grade energy are not only supplied to corresponding loads, but also can be converted into low-grade energy. Additionally, the stability and energy efficiency of the system are improved with the application of this strategy.

4 Unified network analysis on the organization of an industrial metabolic system

Industrial parks have been playing a crucial role on driving regional economic development, but also been posing threats to local environment due to intensive resource consumption and waste emission. To analyze the trade-off between economic development and environmental pollution, we use an approach based on social and ecologic network analysis to survey the industrial metabolic network and explore their functional characteristics. We conduct a case study in Hefei economic and technological development area, whose components (environment/industrial sectors) are treated as nodes and the relationships (material/energy flows) between nodes are seen as links in this network. Results show that the relationships distribution between components in the entire network basically shows a feature of decentralization. Environment controls the relationships in the network with the greatest advantage. Other industry and fast moving consumer goods industry have considerable ability to build relationships with other components, and are very important for constructing the network. The whole network shows mutualism and synergism based on the ecological relationships between components. In addition the park had a network stability of 0.70, indicating it was in an evolutionary phase, and most material/energy flows are used to improve operational efficiency rather than maintain network stability. This study could provide scientific basis for optimizing industrial park management, thereby reducing environmental pollution and promoting resources conservation.

5 Industrial metabolism of chlorine in a chemical industrial park: the Chinese case

This paper presents a general chlorine metabolic model at industrial parks level and takes one chemical industrial park in China as a case study. The general metabolism model of chlorine in industrial parks consists of 4 subgroups. Subgroup-1 is mainly composed of industries utilizing NaCl as the major chlorine source. Subgroup-2 includes chemical industries with Cl2 as the major chlorine source. Subgroup-3 uses HCl as the major chlorine source and subgroup-4 implies the effluent treatment engineering. The chlorine metabolic pattern illustrates the main flow routes of chlorine in chemical industrial parks and demonstrates that Cl2 and HCl are the key nodes in these routes. The model is employed to investigate the Cl stream of a typical chemical park in China. The maximum flux route of chlorine is the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production path: NaCl/Cl2/HCl/PVC. The relatively low resource efficiency (RE) of chlorine for the whole park (55.47%) indicates huge chlorine losses during production, which may be due to the outflow of by-products and effluents containing Cl. Four scenarios, direct utilization of HCl, conversion of HCl, Cl— recycle and the integrated scenario, are proposed to raise the RE of the park, achieving the maximum rise of RE from 55.47% to 83.69%.© 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
