Quantum Information Science
علم اطلاعات کوانتومی-2022 Quantum computing is implicated as a next-generation solution to supplement
traditional von Neumann architectures in an era of post-Moore’s law computing. As
classical computational infrastructure becomes more limited, quantum platforms
offer expandability in terms of scale, energy consumption, and native 3-D problem
modeling. Quantum information science is a multidisciplinary field drawing from
physics, mathematics, computer science, and photonics. Quantum systems are
expressed with the properties of superposition and entanglement, evolved indirectly
with operators (ladder operators, master equations, neural operators, and quantum
walks), and transmitted (via quantum teleportation) with entanglement generation,
operator size manipulation, and error correction protocols. This article discusses
emerging applications in quantum cryptography, quantum machine learning,
quantum finance, quantum neuroscience, quantum networks, and quantum error
correction.

Cost-Effective ML-Powered Polarization-Encoded Quantum Key Distribution
توزیع کلید کوانتومی کدگذاری شده با قطبش ML مقرون به صرفه-2022 Secure communications have become a requirement
for virtually all kind of applications. Currently, two distant parties can generate shared random secret keys by using public key
cryptography. However, quantum computing represents one of the
greatest threats for the finite complexity of the mathematics behind
public key cryptography. In contrast, Quantum Key Distribution
(QKD) relies on properties of quantum mechanics, which enables
eavesdropping detection and guarantees the security of the key.
Among QKD systems, polarization encoded QKD has been successfully tested in laboratory experiments and recently demonstrated
in closed environments. The main drawback of QKD is its high
cost, which comes, among others, from: i) the requirements for the
quantum transmitters and receivers; and ii) the need of carefully
selecting the fibers supporting the quantum channel to minimize
the environmental effects that could dramatically change the polarization state of photons. In this paper, we propose a Machine
Learning(ML)-based polarization tracking and compensation that
is able to keep shared secret key exchange to high rates even under
large fiber stressing events. Exhaustive results using both synthetic
and experimental data show remarkable performance, which can
simplify the design of both quantum transmitter and receiver, as
well as enable the use of aerial optical cables, thus reducing total
QKD system cost.

Roles of gender, study major, and origins in accounting learning: A case in Thailand
نقش جنسیت، مطالعه اصلی و ریشه های یادگیری حسابداری: مورد در تایلند-2021 Management students are required to pass several quantitative subjects, such as Accounting,
Business Finance, and Mathematics, during their study at the undergraduate level. There are
limited studies conducted in Thailand that explored students’ learning achievement in accounting
courses. This paper explored the learning achievement of undergraduate management students in
the introductory accounting course at a public university in Thailand. It examined whether the
achievement differs across the students’ gender, study major, and origins. Data from 906 man-
agement students were taken as samples. This study relied on the independent samples t-test and
one-way ANOVA to analyze the data. The results suggested that the performance of undergrad-
uate management students in the accounting course differs significantly across genders, majors,
and origins of the students. keywords: عملکرد یادگیری | دانش آموزان مدیریت | آموزش حسابداری | جنسیت | مطالعه اصلی | ریشه | Learning performance | Management students | Accounting education | Gender | Study major | Origins |

Innovation for sustainability in the Global South: bibliometric findings from management & business and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields in developing countries
نوآوری برای پایداری در جنوب جهانی: یافته های کتاب سنجی از مدیریت و تجارت و زمینه های STEM (علم، فناوری، مهندسی و ریاضیات) در کشورهای در حال توسعه-2021 Research on innovation and sustainability is prolific but fragmented. This study integrates the research on
innovation in management and business and STEM fields for sustainability in a unified framework for the case of
developing countries (i.e., the Global South). It presents and discusses the output, impact, and structure of such
research based on a sample of 14,000 þ articles and conference proceedings extracted from the bibliographic
database Scopus. The findings reveal research output inflections after global announcements such as UN-Earth
Summits. The study also reveals the indisputable leadership of China in overall output and research agendasetting.
Nonetheless, countries such as India, Mexico, and Nigeria are either more efficient or impactful. GS
research published in highly reputable journals is still scarce but increasing modestly. Central topic clusters (e.g.,
knowledge management) remain peripheral to the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) research landscape.
Finally, academic-corporate collaboration is in its infancy and limited to particular economic sectors:
energy, pharmaceuticals, and high-tech.

Pre-university students square-root from squared things: A commognitive account of apparent conflicts within learners mathematical discourses
دانشجویان پیش دانشگاهی ریشه میدان از اشیا مربع شده: یک گزارش فراوانی از درگیری های ظاهری در گفتمان های ریاضی یادگیرندگان-2021 This study explores the grasp of square roots among eleven students in a remedial mathematics
course, with a special focus on where the same student generated apparently conflicting re-
sponses. Building on the commognitive framework, the analysis distinguished between routines
that individual students consistently implemented in situations where roots “stood alone” and
where they were incorporated in more compound exercises, where roots were extracted from
square numbers and from squared radicands, where roots were applied to monomials and bi-
nomials, and where parameters named with different letters were involved. Differences were
found in routines’ degree of objectification, procedures, and tasks. These differences are
explained with a theoretical account, suggesting that what may seem as a conflict within a stu-
dent’s discourse could be a sensible difference of actions taken in situations that this student
construed as different. The contribution of this study to the body of knowledge on teaching and
learning of roots and to commognitive research is discussed. keywords: جبر | درگیری ها | چارچوب یادگاری | نمایندگی و ریشه | آموزش ریاضیات تربیتی | Algebra | Conflicts | Commognitive framework | Exponential and roots | Tertiary mathematics education |

Qualitative and quantitative project risk assessment using a hybrid PMBOK model developed under uncertainty conditions
ارزیابی ریسک کمی و کیفی پروژه با استفاده از یک مدل توسعه یافته PMBOK تحت شرایط غیر قطعی-2020 This study presented a qualitative and quantitative project risk assessment using a hybrid PMBOK model developed under uncertainty conditions. Accordingly, an exploratory and applied research design was employed in this study. The research sample included 15 experienced staff working in main and related positions in Neyr Perse Company. After reviewing the literature and the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), 32 risk factors were identified and their number reduced to 17 risks using the expert opinions via the fuzzy Delphi technique run through three stages. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis showed that all risks were confirmed by the members of the research sample. Then the identified risks were structured and ranked using fuzzy DEMATEL and fuzzy ANP techniques. The final results of the study showed that the political and economic sanctions had the highest weight followed by foreign investors’ attraction and the lack of regional infrastructure. The effectiveness of university regulations to foster science-based entrepreneurship
اثربخشی مقررات دانشگاه برای تقویت کارآفرینی مبتنی بر علم-2020 In this study, we analyze the effect of the introduction of university regulations supporting academic entrepreneurship. Using a sample of 611 companies spun-off
from the 64 Italian Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) universities between 2002 and 2012, we show that university regulations
in support of academic entrepreneurship have a positive effect on the creation of academic spin-offs. Nevertheless, their effectiveness is conditioned by specific
contingencies. First, the characteristics of university departments influence the positive effect of the regulation: in some cases, there is a substitution effect rather than
a complementary one. Second, the design of the regulation impacts the decisions of academic staff regarding whether to start a new venture. Finally, the effect of the
regulation is maximized four years after its introduction and then becomes less effective. This paper contributes to the debate on the evaluation of policies supporting
science-based entrepreneurship. |

DNA database matches: A p versus np problem
پایگاه داده DNA مطابقت دارد: مسئله p در مقابل np-2020 The evidential value of a unique DNA database match has been extensively discussed. In principle the matter has
been mathematically resolved, since the posterior odds on the match being with the trace donor are unambiguously
defined. There are multiple ways to express these odds as a product of likelihood ratio and prior
odds, and so the mathematics do not immediately tell us what to do in concrete cases, in particular which
likelihood ratio to choose for reporting. With p the random match probability for the matching person, if innocent,
and n the database size, both 1/p, originating from a suspect-centered framework, and 1/(np), originating
from a database-centered framework, arise as likelihood ratio. Both have been defended and both have
been criticized in the literature.
We will clarify the situation by not introducing models and choices of prior probabilities until they are
needed. This allows to derive the posterior odds in their most general form, which applies whenever we know
that a single person among a list is not excluded as potential trace donor. We show that we need only three
probabilities, that pertain to the observed match, to the database, and to the matching person respectively.
How these required probabilities behave in a given context, then, differs from one situation to another. This is
understandable since database searches may be done under various circumstances. They may be carried out with
or without a suspect already in mind and, depending on the operational procedures, one may or may not be
informed about the personal details of the person who gives the match. We show how to evaluate the required
probabilities in all such cases.
We will motivate why we believe that for some database searches, the 1/p likelihood ratio is more natural,
whereas for others, 1/(np) seems the more sensible choice. This is not motivated by the mathematics: mathematically,
the approaches are equivalent. It is motivated by considering which model best reflects the actual
situation, taking into account what question was asked to begin with, and by the practical consideration of
judging which likelihood ratio comes closer to the posterior odds based on the information available in the case.
This article is intended to be both a research and a review article, and we end with an in-depth discussion of
various arguments that have been brought forward in favor or against either 1/p or 1/(np). Keywords: DNA database | Likelihood ratio | Evidential value | Criminal casework | Database controversy |
