The Role of Social-Emotional and Social Network Factors in the Relationship Between Academic Achievement and Risky Behaviors
نقش عوامل اجتماعی-احساسی و اجتماعی در رابطه بین پیشرفت تحصیلی و رفتارهای پرخطر-2017 BACKGROUND: We examined whether standardized test scores
and grades are related to risky behaviors among low-income minority adolescents and whether social networks and socialemotional factors explained those relationships.
METHODS: We analyzed data from 929 high school students
exposed by natural experiment to high- or low-performing academic environments in Los Angeles. We collected information
on grade point average (GPA), substance use, sexual behaviors,
participation in fights, and carrying a weapon from face-to-face
interviews and obtained California math and English standardized test results. Logistic regression and mediation analyses
were used to examine the relationship between achievement
and risky behaviors.
RESULTS: Better GPA and California standardized test scores
were strongly associated with lower rates of substance use,
high-risk sexual behaviors, and fighting. The unadjusted relative
odds of monthly binge drinking was 0.72 (95% confidence interval, 0.56–0.93) for 1 SD increase in standardized test
scores and 0.46 (95% confidence interval, 0.29–0.74) for GPA
of B or higher compared with Cþ or lower. Most associations
disappeared after controlling for social-emotional and social
network factors. Averaged across the risky behaviors, mediation
analysis revealed social-emotional factors accounted for 33% of
the relationship between test scores and risky behaviors and
43% of the relationship between GPA with risky behaviors. So
cial network characteristics accounted for 31% and 38% of the
relationship between behaviors with test scores and GPA,
respectively. Demographic factors, parenting, and school char
acteristics were less important explanatory factors.
CONCLUSIONS: Social-emotional factors and social network
characteristics were the strongest explanatory factors of the
achievement-risky behavior relationship and might be impor
tant to understanding the relationship between academic
achievement and risky behaviors.

How store service quality affects attitude toward store brands in emerging countries_ Effects of brand cues and the cultural context
چگونه کیفیت خدمات فروشگاه تاثیر می گذارد نگرش نسبت به مارک های فروشگاه در کشورهای در حال ظهور _ تاثیر نشانه های برند و زمینه فرهنگی-2017 This cross-cultural research investigates how store brand perceptual cues and cultural differences affect the
relationships between service quality and attitude toward store brands in two emerging countries. Using mall
intercept surveys, the authors gather data from 1027 respondents in Brazil and Vietnam. Based on structural
equation modeling results show that both positive and negative perceptual brand cues mediate the effects of
overall service quality, store physical aspects, store reliability, and personnel attention on attitude toward store
brands. Moreover, specific mediation processes arise; perceived price and functional risk mediate these effects in
both countries investigated, whereas store brand perceived value and financial risk do not. The cultural context
moderates the relationships as well, such that the effects of overall service quality, store physical aspects, and
store personnel attention on attitude toward store brands are stronger in Brazil than in Vietnam. However, the
effect of store reliability does not differ across countries.

From frequency of use to social integration: The mediation of routinization and infusion in Tuenti community
از فرکانس استفاده به ادغام اجتماعی: میانجیگری روتینیزاسیون و تزریق در جامعه Tuenti-2017 This study examines post-adoption behaviors (i.e., frequency of use, routinization and infusion) and their
effects on the sense of community in the domain of social network sites. In particular, this contribution
formulates mediation hypotheses, which posit how frequency of use affects social integration via rou
tinization and infusion. The data was collected from 278 users of Tuenti, a highly-popular social network
site among the Spanish college student population during the period 2006–2012. Results from partial
least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) show these sophisticated types of usage are inter
related in such a way that routinization and infusion (a) fully mediate the effect of frequency of use on
social integration; and (b) exert significant influences on social integration, as an active sense of belong
ingness to a social network site. In order to attain social integration, it is therefore essential for managers
to devise strategies to foster advanced post-adoption behaviors.

Reframing tourism distribution - Activity Theory and Actor-Network Theory
توزیع مجدد گردشگری - نظریه فعالیت و نظریه شبکه بازیگری-2017 Tourism distribution has commonly been understood within a managerial framework, appearing as a
static, linear and isolated process, happening in distribution channels. Through ontological, epistemo
logical and methodological argumentation, this paper reveals that such an approach represents one
specific enactment of tourism distribution that, on its own, does not sufficiently reflect the complex
processes involved. A conceptual basis and framework for a new approach to analysis of tourism dis
tribution is presented. This approach applies existing knowledge on tourism distribution to a framework
founded in understandings from Activity Theory and Actor-Network Theory. In this framework, tourism
distribution is considered as a process of mediation, happening in networks of relations, between
complex activity systems. The approach sets up a specific frame for analysis of tourism distribution, but
also encourages researchers to take an open approach where mess and multiplicity is embraced.

Can innovative behavior be led by management? A study from the lodging business
آیا رفتار نوآورانه توسط مدیریت رهبری می شود؟ یک مطالعه از تجارت مسکن-2017 This study examined the effects of hotel management leadership on employee innovative behavior in
Chinese hotel organizations. Using a dyadic sample of 164 hotel supervisors and 603 service employees
at 23 four-star and five-star hotels in 11 Chinese cities, we investigated whether organizational
commitment mediated the effects of leadership on employee innovative behavior. We also examined
how organizational tenure moderated leadership and innovative behavior through organizational
commitment. Findings from our moderated-mediation model revealed that organizational commitment
mediated the relationship between leadership and innovative behavior. Similarly, organizational tenure
moderated the relationship between leadership and organizational commitment: there was a stronger
relationship for long-tenured employees and a weaker relationship for short-tenured employees.
However, the effect of higher leadership on organizational commitment was stronger for short-tenured
employees than long-tenured employees. Our results spotlight the importance of fostering organiza
tional commitment, which directly affects innovative behavior and through which supervisors can in
fluence individual innovative behavior.

Big data and predictive analytics for supply chain and organizational performance
Big data and predictive analytics for supply chain and organizational performance-2017 Scholars acknowledge the importance of big data and predictive analytics (BDPA) in achieving business value and
firm performance. However, the impact of BDPA assimilation on supply chain (SCP) and organizational
performance (OP) has not been thoroughly investigated. To address this gap, this paper draws on resourcebased view. It conceptualizes assimilation as a three stage process (acceptance, routinization, and assimilation)
and identifies the influence of resources (connectivity and information sharing) under the mediation effect of
top management commitment on big data assimilation (capability), SCP and OP. The findings suggest that
connectivity and information sharing under the mediation effect of top management commitment are positively
related to BDPA acceptance, which is positively related to BDPA assimilation under the mediation effect of BDPA
routinization, and positively related to SCP and OP. Limitations and future research directions are provided

Social pathways to health_ On the mediating role of the social network in the relation between socio-economic position and health
مسیرهای اجتماعی برای سلامتی. بر نقش میانجیگری شبکه اجتماعی در رابطه بین موقعیت اجتماعی و اقتصادی و سلامت-2017 Good health is one of the key qualities of life, but opportunities to be and remain healthy are unequally
distributed across socio-economic groups. The beneficial health effects of the social network are well known.
However, research on the social network as potential mediator in the pathway from socio-economic position
(SEP) to health is scarce, while there are good reasons to expect a socio-economical patterning of networks. We
aim to contribute to our understanding of socio-economic inequalities in health by examining the mediating role
of structural and functional characteristics of the social network in the SEP-health relationship. Data were from
the second wave of the Norwegian study on the life course, aging and generation study (NorLAG) and comprised
4534 men and 4690 women aged between 40 and 81. We applied multiple mediation models to evaluate the
relative importance of each network characteristic, and multiple group analysis to examine differences between
middle-aged and older men and women. Our results indicated a clear socio-economical patterning of the social
network for men and women. People with higher SEP had social networks that better protect against loneliness,
which in turn lead to better health outcomes. The explained variance in health in older people by the social
network and SEP was only half of the explained variance observed in middle-aged people, suggesting that other
factors than SEP were more important for health when people age. We conclude that it is the function of the
network, rather than the structure, that counts for health.

Psychological security and deviant peer affiliation as mediators between teacher-student relationship and adolescent Internet addiction
امنیت روانی و وابستگی همکار انحرافی به عنوان واسطه بین روابط معلم و دانش آموز و اعتیاد نوجوانان-2017 A growing body of research has documented that teacher-student relationship is negatively associated with adolescent Internet addiction. However, little is known about the mediating mechanisms under- lying this relation. The present study investigated whether psychological security and deviant peer affiliation mediate the link between teacher-student relationship and adolescent Internet addiction. A sample of 747 middle school students (51% male; Mage ¼ 13.73 years, SD ¼ 1.00) completed question- naires regarding demographics, teacher-student relationship, psychological security, deviant peer affil- iation, and Internet addiction. After controlling for demographic covariates, the results revealed that: (a) teacher-student relationship was negatively associated with Internet addiction; (b) both psychological security and deviant peer affiliation partially mediated the link between teacher-student relationship and Internet addition in a parallel fashion; and (c) psychological security and deviant peer affiliation also sequentially mediated the link between teacher-student relationship and Internet addition. These findings have important implications for the prevention and intervention of adolescent Internet addiction.© 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Interparental conflict and adolescent internet addiction: The mediating role of emotional insecurity and the moderating role of big five personality traits
درگیری های بین والدین و اعتیاد به اینترنت نوجوانان: نقش میانجی از ناامنی هیجانی و نقش تعدیل کننده ویژگی های پنج شخصیت بزرگ-2017 A growing body of research has documented that interparental conflict is associated with adolescent Internet addiction. However, little is known about the mediating and moderating mechanisms under- lying this relation. Based on emotional security theory and diathesis-stress model, the present study examined whether emotional insecurity mediated the relationship between interparental conflict and adolescent Internet addiction, and whether this mediating process was moderated by big five personality traits. Our theoretical model was tested using data collected from 1189 Chinese adolescents (Mage ¼ 14.43 years, SD ¼ 1.41). Participants completed anonymous questionnaires assessing their perceptions of interparental conflict, emotional insecurity, big five personality traits, and Internet addiction. After controlling for demographic variables, interparental conflict was positively associated with adolescent Internet addiction. Mediation analysis indicated that emotional insecurity partially mediated the asso- ciation between interparental conflict and adolescent Internet addiction. Tests of moderated mediation further revealed that the mediated path was stronger for adolescents with higher neuroticism or ex- traversion. Results highlight the significance of identifying the mechanisms that moderate the mediated paths between interparental conflict and adolescent Internet addiction.© 2017 Elsevier Ltd. The contradiction between self-protection and self-presentation on knowledge sharing behavior
تناقض بین خود محافظت و خود-ارائه در رفتار اشتراک دانش-2017 This study decomposes information security awareness (ISA) into general information security aware- ness (GISA) and information security policy awareness (ISPA), to explore how these factors affect knowledge-sharing behavior. It also investigates the effects of threat appraisal and source credibility on knowledge-sharing behavior from self-protection and self-presentation perspectives. This study adopted an online questionnaire through mySurvey for data collection. This research collected and analyzed 598 valid responses by using a structural equation modeling to validate the research hypotheses. The results indicate that GISA and ISPA have significant positive effects on threat appraisal. Whereas ISPA has a significant positive effect on knowledge-sharing behavior, GISA does not. With regard to social ties, bonding social capital and bridging social capital have significant positive effects on both source credi- bility and knowledge-sharing behavior. Threat appraisal has a significant negative effect, and source credibility has a significant positive effect, on knowledge-sharing behavior. In addition, threat appraisal and source credibility exert partial mediation effects on ISPA, bonding social capital, bridging social capital, and knowledge-sharing behavior.© 2017 Elsevier Ltd.
