Publish–Subscribe approaches for the IoT and the cloud: Functional and performance evaluation of open-source systems
رویکردهای انتشار – اشتراک برای اینترنت اشیا و ابر: ارزیابی عملکرد و کارایی سیستمهای منبع باز-2022 Publish–Subscribe systems facilitate the communication between services or applications. A
typical system comprises the publisher, the subscriber, and the broker but, may also feature
message queues, databases, clusters, or federations of brokers, apply message delivery policies,
communication protocols, security services, and a streaming API. Not all these features are
supported by all systems or, others may be optional. As a result, there is no common ground
for the comparison of Publish–Subscribe systems. This paper presents a critical survey and
taxonomy of Publish–Subscribe systems, of their design features and technologies. The concepts
of message queuing, publish–subscribe systems, and publish–subscribe protocols for the cloud
and the IoT are discussed and clarified. The respective evaluation is about seven state-of-the-art
open-source systems namely, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Orion-LD, Scorpio, Stellio, Pushpin, and
Faye. For the sake of fair comparison, a minimum set of common features is identified in all
systems. All systems are evaluated and compared in terms of functionality and performance
under real-case scenarios.

MISS-D: A fast and scalable framework of medical image storage service based on distributed file system
MISS-D: یک چارچوب سریع و مقیاس پذیر از خدمات ذخیره سازی تصویر پزشکی بر اساس سیستم فایل توزیع شده-2020 Background and Objective Processing of medical imaging big data is deeply challenging due to the size of
data, computational complexity, security storage and inherent privacy issues. Traditional picture archiving
and communication system, which is an imaging technology used in the healthcare industry, generally
uses centralized high performance disk storage arrays in the practical solutions. The existing storage solutions
are not suitable for the diverse range of medical imaging big data that needs to be stored reliably
and accessed in a timely manner. The economical solution is emerging as the cloud computing which
provides scalability, elasticity, performance and better managing cost. Cloud based storage architecture
for medical imaging big data has attracted more and more attention in industry and academia.
Methods This study presents a novel, fast and scalable framework of medical image storage service based
on distributed file system. Two innovations of the framework are introduced in this paper. An integrated
medical imaging content indexing file model for large-scale image sequence is designed to adapt to the
high performance storage efficiency on distributed file system. A virtual file pooling technology is proposed,
which uses the memory-mapped file method to achieve an efficient data reading process and
provides the data swapping strategy in the pool.
Result The experiments show that the framework not only has comparable performance of reading and
writing files which meets requirements in real-time application domain, but also bings greater convenience
for clinical system developers by multiple client accessing types. The framework supports different
user client types through the unified micro-service interfaces which basically meet the needs of
clinical system development especially for online applications. The experimental results demonstrate the
framework can meet the needs of real-time data access as well as traditional picture archiving and communication
system.
Conclusions This framework aims to allow rapid data accessing for massive medical images, which can be
demonstrated by the online web client for MISS-D framework implemented in this paper for real-time
data interaction. The framework also provides a substantial subset of features to existing open-source and

Energy-aware dynamic Internet of Things security system based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography and Message Queue Telemetry Transport protocol for mitigating Replay attacks

this work is to model and evaluate a dynamic IoT security system based on a generic IoT
edge network in which nodes exchange messages through the Message Queue Telemetry
Transport (MQTT) protocol. This work aims to increase MQTT security by mitigating data
tampering, eavesdropping and Replay attacks by using the Elliptic Curve Cryptography
(ECC), timestamps and wake up patterns, with the purpose of preserving node energy.
The evaluated results will show that it is possible to increase the system lifetime by

An enhanced framework for multimedia data: Green transmission and portrayal for smart traffic system

quires an enormous amount of data called big data to be transmitted over the network
using the Internet of Things. Manual monitoring and surveillance are impossible because
traditional computer vision technologies are no more useful for massive processing and
intelligent decision making. In this paper, a framework is proposed which enables both on
spot data processing and intelligent decision making by using cloud computing. The de
veloped application is a trained on Artificial Neural Network, which can handle different
traffic techniques with congested traffic scenario and priorities traffic such as ambulance
handling. The Message Queue Telemetry Transport protocol is used for green transmission
with mobile access to traffic data. The results analyzed with thirty videos processed data
which handle real-time data prioritization for the people for smart surveillance to fastest
route and enhance the intelligent data transmission.

Technologies of Internet of Things applied to an Earthquake Early Warning System
کاربرد تکنولوژی اینترنت اشیاء برای سیستم های هشدار به هنگام زلزله-2017 Internet of Things (IoT), more than smart homes and connected appliances, is to reach physical knowledge
in real-time and remotely; and taking advantage of the smartphone’s increasing diffusion, it is possible
using its embedded sensors to monitor the environment, anytime and anywhere; this could be the
solution to many community problems as well as natural hazards. This paper focuses on the solution
to one of the most deadly natural hazards, earthquakes; taking seismic data of Ecuador, a country with an
average of 6 earthquakes per day in 2013. Technologies of IoT like Sensor Web Enablement Framework
(SWE) and Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) give the benefit of achieving an Early Warning
System capable of anticipating up to 12 seconds the maximum seismic peak in the epicentre zone
through smartphones. The system is supported by a wireless sensor network and its main components,
requirements and design decisions are described. It considers time and spatial analyses, not present in any
other work, making it more precise and customizable, and adapting it to the features of the geographical
zone and resources. A preliminary evaluation of the solution was conducted to determine its strengths
and weaknesses in terms of response time. The obtained results indicate that the energy consumption is
as relevant for end-users as their personal security.

AUPS: An Open Source AUthenticated Publish/Subscribe system for the Internet of Things
AUPS: یک منبع باز تصدیق انتشار / سیستم اشتراک برای اینترنت اشیاء -2016 The arising of the Internet of Things (IoT) is enabling new service provisioning paradigms,
able to leverage heterogeneous devices and communication technologies. Efficient and
secure communication mechanisms represent a key enabler for the wider adoption and
diffusion of IoT systems. One of the most widely employed protocols in IoT and machine
to-machine communications is the Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT), a
lightweight publish/subscribe messaging protocol designed for working with constrained
devices. In MQTT messages are assigned to a specific topic to which users can subscribe.
MQTT presents limited security support. In this paper we present a secure publish/sub
scribe system extending MQTT by means of a key management framework and a policy
enforcement one. In this way the flow of information in MQTT-powered IoT systems can
be flexibly controlled by means of flexible policies. The solution presented is released as
open source under Apache v.2 license.
