31 A network view on brain regions involved in experts’ object and pattern recognition: Implications for the neural mechanisms of skilled visual perception

Skilled visual object and pattern recognition form the basis of many everyday behaviours. The game of chess has often been used as a model case for studying how long-term experience aides in perceiving objects and their spatio-functional interrelations. Earlier research revealed two brain regions, posterior middle temporal gyrus (pMTG) and collateral sulcus (CoS), to be linked to chess experts’ superior object and pattern recognition, respectively. Here we elucidated the brain networks these two expertise-related regions are embedded in, employing resting-state functional connectivity analysis and meta-analytic connectivity modelling with the BrainMap database. pMTG was preferentially connected with dorsal visual stream areas and a parieto-prefrontal network for action planning, while CoS was preferentially connected with posterior medial cortex and hippocampus, linked to scene perception, perspective-taking and navigation. Functional profiling using BrainMap meta-data revealed that pMTG was linked to semantic processing as well as inhibition and attention, while CoS was linked to face and shape perception as well as passive viewing. Our findings suggest that pMTG subserves skilled object recognition by mediating the link between object identity and object affordances, while CoS subserves skilled pattern recognition by linking the position of individual objects with typical spatio-functional layouts of their environment stored in memory.

32 User-centred web design, usability and user satisfaction: The case of online banking websites in Iran

The relationship of Web design attributes (personalisation, structure, navigation, layout, search and perfor- mance) and users personal characteristics to website usability and user satisfaction was investigated among 798 online banking users in Iran. The design and usability of the evaluated websites were not satisfactory from the users’ perspectives. Multivariate regression models indicated that Web layout and performance were the main predictors of website usability, while personal characteristics including gender, age and Web usage experience of users had no effect. User satisfaction was also influenced only by the Web design attributes (particularly Web structure) and not by the personal characteristics of the users. There was also a significant relationship between website usability and user satisfaction. The findings suggest that the website designers should focus more on the Web design attributes (particularly Web layout and structure), regardless of the personal characteristics of their users, to improve the usability and user satisfaction of websites.

33 “To boldly go where no [man] has gone before” - Institutional voids and the development of womens digital entrepreneurship

This paper examines the emergence of digital entrepreneurship in the context of emerging economies. Given that these economies generally lack a well-developed institutional framework, we draw on the concept of institutional voids as our theoretical lens. We argue that digital entrepreneurship facilitates the navigation and bridging of socio-cultural institutional voids but also provides opportunities for entrepreneurs to directly and indirectly alter the existing institutional context. We illustrate these arguments by drawing upon six biographical narrations of female digital entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia. Accordingly, through our development of a multi-level model, we make explicit the two-way causal interaction between entrepreneurial action, institution altering behaviour and the social and cultural context, thus providing a framework for future research

34 Aspect ontology based review exploration

User feedback in the form of customer reviews, blogs, and forum posts is an essential feature of e-commerce. Users often read online product reviews to get an insight into the quality of various aspects of a product. Besides, users have different aspect preferences, and they look for reviews that contain relevant information regarding their preferred aspect(s). However, as reviews are unstructured and voluminous, it becomes exhaustive and laborious for users to find relevant reviews. Lack of domain knowledge about various aspects and sub-aspects of a product, and how they are related to each other, also add to the problem. Although this information could be there in product reviews, it is not easy for users to spot it instantly from the reviews. This paper seeks to address the above problems and presents two novel algorithms that summarize product reviews, and provides an interactive search interface, similar to popular faceted navigation. We solve the problem by creating an aspect ontology tree with high aspect extraction precision.

35 Comparing HROs and RE in the light of safety management systems

The High Reliability Organizations (HROs) and Resilience Engineering (RE) movements represent similar schools of thought, and may seem difficult to differentiate on clear grounds. This paper uses a generic taxonomy of safety management modes, developed during a field study conducted within the French Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), to facilitate their comparison. The field study was an opportunity to contrast the classical Safety Management System (SMS) regulatory approach with the HRO and RE frameworks. It also led to the development of a generic taxonomy of safety management modes, which is used for comparing the HRO and RE frameworks from a safety management perspective. While HRO and RE share a common theoretical inspiration (complex adaptive systems), a common philosophy of safety management, and reach similar conclusions in terms of “positive” safety management features, they can still be differentiated by their position in the grid. HROs are close to one of the four safety management modes described in the taxonomy, while resilience is a component of safety management that is present, at different levels, across all the four safety management modes.

36 Big data dashboards as smart decision support tools for i-cities – An experiment on stockholm

This study addresses the strategic governance challenges of modern smart cities from the new viewpoint of big data management. It seeks to develop and highlight a systematic methodological framework for handling multivariate big data in a smart urban decision support context in the ‘New Urban World’, so as to enhance the cities’ competitive performance through the design and development of operational urban management prin ciples and strategies. The specific aim of this paper is to provide the critical and basic cornerstones for an applicable interactive dashboard architecture as a supporting tool in a structured process of innovative city strategies and consequent enhanced socio-economic performance. A core element in the present paper is formed by a smart urban dashboard system that acts as an interactive navigation tool supporting operational choices of all stakeholders involved. This dashboard is able to integrate complex and ever-changing big data bases serving as ‘signposts’ of city intelligence (or i-city smartness) for daily or strategic decisions of all urban stakeholders. This study thus outlines successively the concept of smart i-cities in our ‘urban century’, the great potential of digital technology for managing big data in governing i-cities, and the foundations of an urban dashboard on the basis of the so-called Pentagon model as a policy strategy vehicle. Starting from extensive data on a broad set of global cities, the potential of this approach is exemplified by means of an illustrative application of a smart urban dashboard for the city of Stockholm.

37 “Raw juicing” – an online study of the home manufacture of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) for injection in contemporary performance and image enhancement (PIED) culture

Background New evidence with regard to an under documented practice – the home manufacture of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) for injection, known as ‘homebrewing’ – in contemporary injecting performance and image enhancing drug (PIED) culture is the subject of this paper. Methods Data was collected from five publicly accessible internet discussion forums and coded using NVivo software. For the purposes of this study, threads in relation to homebrewing (n = 14) were extracted from the final set of records for ethnographic content analysis. Results Motivation to perform homebrewing was largely grounded in the circumnavigation of unreliable online sourcing routes for AAS products, financial losses and potential harms associated with contaminated and counterfeit injectables. Instructions on how to perform homebrewing were found within discussion threads. Identified areas of concern included potential for sterility and dosing issues, injecting harms, isolation from health services. Conclusion This study provides a snapshot of online communal activity around practice of homebrewing AAS amongst individuals who inject AAS. Further research in this area is warranted, and will be of benefit to healthcare workers, treatment providers and policy makers particularly as this relates to evidence informed and targeted harm reduction policies and effective public health interventions.

آنتن کوچک و پهن باند مایکرواستریپ با قطبش دایروی (CP) با عرض پرتو وسیع برای سیستم ماهواره ناوبری جهانی (GNSS) ارائه شده است. چهار شاخه انگلی به شکل ناقص در گوشه های صفحه زمین برای افزایش دادن همزمان پهنای باند امپدانسی و عرض پرتو نصف توان (HPBW) قرار داده می شود. چندین شکاف در پچ تشعشعی برای دستیابی به تطبیق امپدانس ایجاد می شود. آنتن پیشنهادی ، ساخته شده و اندازه گیری می شود. نتایج آزمایش نشان می دهد که پهنای باند امپدانسی (IBW) برای VSWR≤2 برابر با 72.5 % از فرکانس 1.02 تا 2.18 گیگاهرتز است و پهنای باند نسبت محوری 3dB (ARBW) برابر با 54 % از فرکانس 1.15 تا 2 گیگاهرتز است. HPBW بیشتر از 100 درجه در کل پهنای باند CP است. ابعاد این آنتن برابر با 70 mm×70mm×12mm,(0.35×0.35×0.06)〖λ_0〗^3 است که در آن λ_0 طول موج فرکانس مرکزی است.

40 Professional Construction of Counselors in Network Times for Sparse Big Data Equilibrium

In the Internet age, when evaluating the results of the professional construction of the counselor, it is usually assumed that a professional construction item contains multiple subtopic-aware of professional construction with different weights, and on the basis of this assumption, the results of the professional construction are evaluated. Although most of the existing counselor professional evaluation methods have used these characteristics to evaluate the results of the professional construction, they have neglected the types of the professional construction subtopic-aware in the evaluation process. Firstly, this feature is described in this paper by introducing the sparse big data equilibrium, and the classification method of the subtopic-aware of the professional construction is abstracted: and then puts forward the framework that evaluates the results of the professional construction of the counselors by constructing subtopic-aware type information for the sparse big data equilibrium, which defines the structure that it should have the evaluation of the professional construction of the counselor by using the professional construction subtopic-aware type information: Then, on the premise that taking information class and the navigation class as the subtopic-aware classification method, its corresponding sparse big data equilibrium form is discussed: finally, the experimental results on TREC and NTCI R test sets show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
