The impact of values and future orientation on intention formation within sustainable entrepreneurship
تأثیر ارزش ها و جهت گیری آینده در شکل گیری قصد در کارآفرینی پایدار-2020 Intentions have been identified as one of the main drivers of sustainable entrepreneurial opportunity recognition and ultimately activity. However, research has not provided sufficient explanation for how the inherent complexities of simultaneously generating social, environmental and economic value as well as considering the needs of future generations might influence the intention formation process of sustainable entrepreneurs. The aim of this study is therefore to investigate the impacts of values and future orientation on said intention formation process. This study uses structural equation modeling to quantitatively analyze an adapted model of the theory of planned behavior based on survey data of 407 students collected within two European countries. The empirical results highlight the importance of self- transcending values and future orientation to understand attitudes towards sustainable entrepreneur- ship. Attitudes and perceived behavioral control, in turn, positively influence intentions to become a sustainable entrepreneur. On a practical note, the results suggest that educational and other practitioners could stimulate sustainable entrepreneurial intentions through value activation strategies to raise atti- tudes. It is further recommended that, as a matter of policy, governmental programs should help strengthen subjective norms as a different route to stimulating intention formation.© 2020 The Authors. Entrepreneurship as a career choice: The impact of locus of control on aspiring entrepreneurs opportunity recognition
کارآفرینی به عنوان یک انتخاب شغلی: تاثیر منبع کنترل در کارآفرینان تشخیص فرصت-2019 The ability of individuals to recognize entrepreneurial opportunities is the decisive factor in their decision to
pursue entrepreneurship as a career. Hence, the purpose of this study is to investigate the role of locus of control
on opportunity recognition (OR) among aspiring entrepreneurs. With a two-wave survey data of 270 aspiring
entrepreneurs, our results suggest that internal and external locus of control have positive and negative relationships
with aspiring entrepreneurs OR, respectively. The findings also show that entrepreneurial intention
mediates the positive and negative relationships of internal and external locus of control on OR. Entrepreneurial
searching self-efficacy (ESSE) provides an interesting moderating effect. The study sheds light on an important
but rarely explored research area: OR among aspiring entrepreneurs. Theoretical and practical implications are
discussed. Keywords: Entrepreneurial intention | Entrepreneurial self-efficacy | Locus of control | Opportunity recognition |

Socio-cognitive traits and entrepreneurship: The moderating role of economic institutions
صفات اجتماعی و شناختی و کارآفرینی: نقش تعدیل کننده مؤسسات اقتصادی-2019 We examine how country-level institutional context moderates the relationship between three
socio-cognitive traits—entrepreneurial self-efficacy, alertness to new business opportunities, and
fear of failure—and opportunity entrepreneurship. To do this, we blend social cognitive theory
(SCT) with institutional theory to develop a multi-level model of entrepreneurial entry. We merge
data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) surveys and the Economic Freedom of the
World (EFW) index for 45 countries from 2002 to 2012. Our results, which are based on a multilevel
fixed-effects model, suggest that entrepreneurs self-efficacy and alertness to new opportunities
promote opportunity entrepreneurship while fear of failure discourages it. However, the
strength of these relationships depends on the institutional context, with entrepreneurial selfefficacy
and alertness substantially more likely to lead to new opportunity-driven ventures in
countries with higher levels of economic freedom. These results provide suggestive evidence that
economic freedom not only channels individual effort to productive entrepreneurial activities,
but also affects the extent to which individuals socio-cognitive resources are likely to mobilized
and lead to high-growth entrepreneurship. Keywords: Entrepreneurship | Economic freedom | Socio-cognitive | Multilevel analysis | Motivation | Necessity | Opportunity | Alertness| Opportunity recognition |
