An investigation of the transmission success in Lorawan enabled IoT-HAPS communication-2022
As the communication and aviation technology expand, High altitude platform stations (HAPS) are increasingly gaining a wider usage area in modern Internet of Things (IoT) deployments. One of the areas in which HAPS can be effectively utilized is the wide area deployment of sensors that require a costly data acquisition effort in terms of transportation and communication access. Aerial communication using a low-energy technology such as LoRa can provide significant advantages in such scenarios. Our work models and simulates LoRAWAN communication in utilizing HAPS in data acquisition over a large distribution span of IoT devices/sensors. We conduct experiments on various different scenarios including changing number of devices, span area, HAPS speed and LoRa duty cycle to draw conclusions about how each of these parameters affect communication quality. Results of the simulation are used in regression analysis of equation factors to calculate the expected transmission performance under different experimental setups. Our results (and simulation code) can be used to reason about certain properties of IoT deployment (such as sensor count, sensor distribution area, HAPS speed, etc.) before the real deployment is done in LoRaWAN enabled IoT-HAPS communication.

2 The influence of online review adoption on the profitability of capacitated supply chains

The paper explores the influence of online review adoption on supply chain profitability under the presence of a capacity constraint. Nowadays, customers increasingly rely on online reviews for decision making, and online retailers regard reviews as a norm. Although online reviews have been extensively examined in marketing disciplines, little research has been conducted to investigate their influence from a supply chain perspective. In addition, previous research has largely focused on how online review information can influence customer purchase behaviours, but ignores the more basic decision: whether and when companies should adopt reviews. This paper examines the online review adoption decision from a capacitated supply chain perspective through mathematical modelling and simulation. The simulation considers the influence of variables including online review adoption decisions, capacity constraint level, lost sales penalty level and product quality estimation on supply chain profitability. Generally, we find that online reviews can bring more profit to the supply chain than without online reviews, although such influence is moderated by the other three variables. The findings reveal the complexity of the contextual variable impacts on online review adoption, and demonstrate that decisions concerning the adoption of online reviews should take all supply-chain-related variables into consideration rather than only aiming for increasing customer orders.

4 Strong classification system for wear identification on milling processes using computer vision and ensemble learning

Metallic pieces are typically machined by continuous tool passes, which usually causes regular patterns in the form of straight edges in the surface of the pieces. An irregular pattern on the surface of the piece implies a decrease of the quality of the machined piece. In this paper, we propose an acquisition system and a machine-vision based method to describe the texture of the inner and outer surfaces of machined pieces with cylindrical holes. In order to capture images of the hole surface, we used a microscope camera connected to a rigid industrial boroscope. Considering the extracted texture descriptors, a significant cor- relation is shown. Consequently, the feature vector is reduced and then classified by several algorithms using an exhaustive grid search strategy with 10-fold cross validation. Best results are achieved with the Extremely Randomized Trees classifier with a mean test score on the hold out set of 92.98%, what improves previous research and meets the requirements of the field.© 2020 Elsevier B.V. 5 An Extended Spatio-temporal Granger Causality Model for Air Quality Estimation with Heterogeneous Urban Big Data

This paper deals with city-wide air quality estimation with limited air quality monitoring stations which are geographically sparse. Since air pollution is influenced by urban dynamics (e.g. meteorology and traffic) which are available throughout the city, we can infer the air quality in regions without monitoring stations based on such spatial-temporal (ST) heterogeneous urban big data. However, big data-enabled estimation poses three challenges. The first challenge is data diversity, i.e., there are many different categories of urban data, some of which may be useless for the estimation. To overcome this, we extend Granger causality to the ST space to analyze all the causality relations in a consistent manner. The second challenge is the computational complexity due to processing the massive volume of data. To overcome this, we introduce the non-causality test to rule out urban dynamics that do not “Granger” cause air pollution, and the region of influence (ROI), which enables us to only analyze data with the highest causality levels. The third challenge is to adapt our grid-based algorithm to non-grid-based applications. By developing a flexible grid-based estimation algorithm, we can decrease the inaccuracies due to grid-based algorithm while maintaining computation efficiency.

شبکه های بین خودروییVANET دارای کاربرد بالقوه در بهبود تجربیات رانندگی جاده ای از جمله، اقدامات امنیت جاده ای و ارائه خدمات تفریحی هستند. این مقاله، طرح انتخاب گره های رله با ارتباط پایدار و دوسویه ای (در دو جهت) BDSC را ارائه می دهد که برای پروتکل های پخش چندهاپی در ناوگان وسایل نقلیه طراحی شده اند. انتخاب گره های رله، براساس نمایش کمی از مشخصات ارتباطی گره های مجاور تک هاپی، با استفاده از الگوریتم برآورد کیفیت ارتباطی می باشد. هدف طرح BDSC ، بهبود نسبت تحویل بسته و پایین نگه داشتن تاخیر ارتباطی سرهم پیوسته در شبکه پرجمعیت، با گره های توزیعی در مساحت بزرگ می باشد. برای دستیابی به این هدف، طرح پیشنهادی، سعی در توازن سازگار بین مشخصات ارتباطی برآوردی و فاصله بین پخش کننده منبع و هدایت کننده های پتانسیل، به هنگام انتخاب گره های هاپ بعدی برای پخش پیام ها دارد. نتایج تحلیل شبیه سازی نشان می دهند که طرح BDSC، بهتر از طرح های پخش چندهاپی موجود، از نظر نسبت تحویل بسته عمل می کند، یعنی زمانیکه در VANETهای پرجمعیت ارزیابی می شوند.
