1 Comparison of machine learning classifiers: A case study of temperature alarms in a pharmaceutical supply chain
مقایسه طبقه بندی کننده های یادگیری ماشین: مطالعه موردی هشدارهای دما در یک زنجیره تأمین دارویی-2021
Temperature deviations are critical in a pharmaceutical supply chain (SC) due to quality deterioration concerns and resulting health risks. The current solutions ensuring temperature maintenance are either labor-intensive or prone to triggering alarms that require no corrective measures, which, in turn, increase the alarm investigation costs. Machine learning (ML) methods have fared well both in the areas characterized by the execution of repetitive tasks and in the identification of false alarms; however, they have not been applied in the context of temperature monitoring in a pharmaceutical SC. In this paper, we used the real-world data of a large international logistics service provider for the period of 2013–2018 and compared the optimized performance of 10 ML classification methods in the task of false temperature alarm identification. Such additional features as temperature in the location of possible physical handling and average temperature deviation were either externally collected or estimated to enrich the models. In general, gradient boosting achieved the best performance in our evaluations, with an accuracy of 95.9% in comparison with the value of 16.6% demonstrated by the current legacy rule-based system. The feature ranking and sensitivity tests pointed to the strength of the features indicating an absolute temperature deviation and the location of cargo along the SC. The tests simulating model applications on new dissimilar observations showed various performance losses across classifiers, with the best stability retained for a new customer scenario and largest performance decreases for a new temperature range scenario.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. 2 Multilayered rule-based expert system for diagnosing uveitis
سیستم تخصصی چند لایه مبتنی بر قانون برای تشخیص یووئیت-2019
Uveitis is a condition caused by inflammation of the uvea, which is the middle layer of the eye. Uveitis can result in swelling or destruction of the eye tissue, which can lead to visual impairment or blindness [1]. Many diseases, either systemic or localized to the eye, are associated with the symptoms of uveitis. Thus, it is often hard to determine the underlying disease responsible for uveitis, especially when the signs and symptoms are unclear. Additionally, there are few experts on uveitis, especially in poor and developing countries. In this paper, we design and build a rulebased expert system to diagnose uveitis. The main motivation for developing this expert system was to mitigate the lack of human experts by helping general ophthalmologists achieve a correct diagnosis with minimal time and effort. Furthermore, the system can act as a good educational tool for newly graduated doctors, guiding their work with their patients and supporting their diagnostic decisions. The novel multilayer design of the system allows flexibility and ease of scaling to new cases in the future. Many techniques were used to improve the system’s diagnostic flexibility and overcome incomplete user input. Tests of the system have yielded promising results.

3 BRBcast: A new approach to belief rule-based system parameter learning via extended causal strength logic
BRBcast: یک رویکرد جدید به یادگیری پارامترهای سیستم مبتنی بر عقیده از طریق منطق قدرت علمی -2018
The belief rule-based (BRB) system has demonstrated advantages in complex system mod eling and evaluation, with strong nonlinear relationship approximation capabilities. BRB parameter learning processes have been proved to be effective in improving the approxi mation accuracy of BRB systems. However, the running time complexity is regarded as an important challenge in BRB parameter learning efficiency. In this paper, a new approach to BRB parameter learning via extended causal strength (CAST) logic (BRBcast) is proposed in order to reduce the complexity of BRB parameter learning and maintain the approximation accuracy of BRB systems. First, the parameter numbers of traditional BRB parameter learn ing are analyzed to show the necessity of complexity reduction. Furthermore, the binary CAST logic is extended to fulfill the requirements of multi-state modeling and evaluation. Thereafter, an optimization model for parameter learning with CAST logic is established based on the analysis conclusion, and further applied to reduce the BRB parameter learn ing complexity. In BRBcast, the CAST parameters, instead of BRB parameters, are trained and translated to construct belief rule bases in BRB parameter learning, which involves less parameters than those of traditional BRB parameter learning approaches. Following this, the detailed BRBcast procedure is presented with the differential evolutionary (DE) algorithm. Finally, a numerical case and practical example on pipeline leak detection are investigated in order to verify the efficiency of BRBcast. The experimental results indicate that the proposed BRBcast exhibits superior performance, in both reducing the BRB param eter learning complexity and ensuring the approximation accuracy of BRB systems, which provides a promising avenue for constructing accurate and robust disaster emergency and rapid response systems.

4 Efficiency in BRICS banking under data vagueness: A two-stage fuzzy approach
کارایی در بانکداری BRICS تحت ابهام داده: یک رویکرد فازی دو مرحله ای-2017
This study analyzes the efficiency levels of the banking industry in the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) from 2010 to 2014, using an integrated two-stage fuzzy approach. Very often the reliability of data collected from BRICS is questionable. In this research, we first use fuzzy TOPSIS to capture vagueness in the relative efficiency of BRICS banking over time. In the second stage, we adopt fuzzy regressions based on different rule-based systems to enhance the power of significant socioeconomic, regulatory, and demographic variables to predict banking efficiency. These variables are previously identified by using bootstrapped truncated regressions with conditional α-levels, as proposed by Wanke, Barros, and Emrouznejad (2015a). The results reveal that efficiency in the banking industry is positively associated with country gross savings and the GINI index ratio, but negatively associated with relatively high inflation ratios. Fuzzy regressions proved far more accurate than bootstrapped truncated regressions with conditional α-levels. We derive policy implications.

5 Sequential pattern mining applied to aeroengine condition monitoring with uncertain health data
Sequential pattern mining applied to aeroengine condition monitoring with uncertain health data-2015
Numerical algorithms that can assess Engine Health Monitoring (EHM) data in aeroengines are influenced by the high level of uncertainty inherent to gas path measurements and engine-to-engine variability. Among them, fuzzy rule-based techniques have been successfully used due to their robustness towards noisy signals and their capability to learn human-readable rules from data. These techniques are useful in detecting the presence of certain types of abnormal events or general engine deterioration, through the identification of specific combinations of EHM signals associated with these specific cases. However, there are also other types of engine events that manifest themselves as an ordered sequence of otherwise normal combinations of the EHM signals. These combinations are dismissed when considered in isolation as the current existing techniques cannot assess them. In this paper it is proposed to use sequence mining techniques in order to obtain fuzzy rules from uncertain EHM data which can in turn be used to identify the cases where an engine event is determined as a sequence of otherwise normal combinations of EHM signals. The results are subsequently tested on a representative sample of aeroengine data.& 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
