High-accuracy in the classification of butchery cut marks and crocodile tooth marks using machine learning methods and computer vision algorithms

stone tool butchery cut marks. Other researchers have argued that multivariate methods can efficiently
separate both types of marks. Differentiating both taphonomic agents is crucial for determining the earliest evidence of carcass processing by hominins. Here, we use an updated machine learning approach
(discarding artificially bootstrapping the original imbalanced samples) to show that microscopic features
shaped as categorical variables, corresponding to intrinsic properties of mark structure, can accurately
discriminate both types of bone modifications. We also implement new deep-learning methods that
objectively achieve the highest accuracy in differentiating cut marks from crocodile tooth scores (99%
of testing sets). The present study shows that there are precise ways of differentiating both taphonomic
agents, and this invites taphonomists to apply them to controversial paleontological and archaeological
specimens.

Evolution of Quantum Computing: Theoretical and Innovation Management Implications for Emerging Quantum Industry
تکامل محاسبات کوانتومی: مفاهیم مدیریت نظری و نوآوری برای صنعت کوانتومی در حال ظهور-2022 Quantum computing is a vital research field in science
and technology. One of the fundamental questions hardly known
is how quantum computing research is developing to support scientific advances and the evolution of path-breaking technologies
for economic, industrial, and social change. This study confronts
the question here by applying methods of computational scientometrics for publication analyses to explain the structure and
evolution of quantum computing research and technologies over
a 30-year period. Results reveal that the evolution of quantum
computing from 1990 to 2020 has a considerable average increase of
connectivity in the network (growth of degree centrality measure),
a moderate increase of the average influence of nodes on the flow
between nodes (little growth of betweenness centrality measure),
and a little reduction of the easiest access of each node to all other
nodes (closeness centrality measure). This evolutionary dynamics
is due to the increase in size and complexity of the network in
quantum computing research over time. This study also suggests
that the network of quantum computing has a transition from
hardware to software research that supports accelerated evolution
of technological pathways in quantum image processing, quantum
machine learning, and quantum sensors. Theoretical implications
of this study show the morphological evolution of the network in
quantum computing from a symmetric to an asymmetric shape
driven by new inter-related research fields and emerging technological trajectories. Findings here suggest best practices of innovation
management based on R&D investments in new technological directions of quantum computing having a high potential for growth
and impact in science and markets.

The Interplay between the Internet of Things and agriculture: A bibliometric analysis and research agenda
تعامل بین اینترنت اشیا و کشاورزی: تجزیه و تحلیل کتاب سنجی و دستور کار تحقیق-2022 The proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has fundamentally reshaped the agricultural
sector. In recent years, academic research on the IoT has grown at an unprecedented pace.
However, the broad picture of how this technology can benefit the agricultural sector is still
missing. To close this research gap, we conduct a bibliometric study to investigate the current
state of the IoT and agriculture in academic literature. Using a resource-based view (RBV), we
also identify those agricultural resources that are mostly impacted by the introduction of the IoT
(i.e., seeds, soil, water, fertilizers, pesticides, energy, livestock, human resources, technology
infrastructure, business relations) and propose numerous themes for future research.

The adoption of circular economy practices in supply chains – An assessment of European Multi-National Enterprises
The adoption of circular economy practices in supply chains – An assessment of European Multi-National Enterprises-2021 The European Commission Circular Economy Action Plan aims at fostering a society based on sustainable pro- duction and consumption. Within this context, industrial organisations are called to implement a wide set of practices to drive this transition: manufacturing easy-to-repair and sustainable products, adopting solutions aimed at extending product lifetime, and promoting remanufacturing and materials’ recycling. A major contribution is expected from Multi-National Enterprises (MNEs), as these organizations dominate the European economy and coordinate resource-intensive global supply networks. As such, this study assesses the Circular Economy-inspired initiatives promoted by the largest European MNEs. The content of sustainability reports is scrutinised, through a template analysis technique, in order to create a database of Circular Economy practices. Key findings include the degree of implementation, the level of involvement of supply chain partners, and the drivers behind the implementation of such practices. Furthermore, a conceptual framework is proposed, in order to describe the adoption of Circular Economy practices as a supply chain process. A theoretical discussion explores the role of institutional pressures and supply chain integration to shape the transition towards the adoption of Circular Economy practices in global supply chains. Accounting and accountability for farm animals: Conceptual limits and the possibilities of caring

concept of farm animal welfare (FAW). We illustrate how external demands linked to FAW,
performance concerns, and proximity to animals shape farmers’ formal and cognitive accounts of
animals. We explain how different accounts underlie farmers’ accountability for animals. Using
FAW as an example of a referent concept, we propose that accountability can be limited
conceptually by its referent. This limit is not a matter of its (in)ability to account fully for all lived
experiences. Rather, it is a matter of what one is or is not accountable for—such as the mortality
rate but not culling—as well as assumptions regarding the referent—such as the nature of animal
welfare and how it can be assessed and safeguarded. Even when it is conceptually bounded in this
way, self-accountability has potential to alter farming practices by reflecting on caring about

Joint analysis of the non-linear debt-growth nexus and capital account liberalization: New evidence from sub-Saharan region

of sub-Saharan firms observed over the period 2004–2014 to jointly assess the impact of debt and financial liberalization on firm growth measured in terms of sales. Using a system GMM estimator, we find
an inverted U-shaped relationship between debt and firm growth. However, the form of this relationship was reversed (U-shaped) by examining the joint effect of debt and capital account liberalization.
This change results from the adoption of the policy of financial liberalization put in place by the regulatory authorities of the sub-Saharan countries. In addition, our results show that investment impact
firm growth. Consequently, agency and trade-off theories are admitted. These findings may yield important policy implications. Policy makers must optimize financial decisions and adopt a gradual financial
liberalization policy, thus ensuring the survival of sub-Saharan firms.

Cybersecurity knowledge and skills for port facility security officers of international seaports_ Perspectives of IT and security personnel
دانش و مهارت های امنیتی سایبری برای افسران امنیتی تأسیسات پورت از دریاها بین المللی، دیدگاه های IT و پرسنل امنیتی-2021 Cyberattacks on worldwide port facilities have highlighted the urgent need for port facility security officers
(PFSOs) to upgrade their cybersecurity knowledge and skills. This study used the survey data from all
international container ports in Thailand and analyzed the results from two perspectives, i.e., IT and security
officers. Based on 73 responses, cybersecurity knowledge and skill would become essential for PFSOs than
ever before because the port digitalization and automation would shape the PFSOs career to a technically-
oriented specialist rather than a multi-skilled generalist. Furthermore, the responsibilities of PFSOs would
extend to cover cyber risk management, which enables them to prevent the digital port facilities from
emerging cyber threats. Therefore, they should learn how to incorporate the existing risk management
process with cyber risk management and cybersecurity knowledge because these would be the foundation
for PFSOs to practice cybersecurity skills. At the end of the learning process, PFSOs could also gain cyber-
security competence once they have mature knowledge and skill, which would be the vital element of port
security hygiene.

On-farm experiences shape farmer knowledge, perceptions of pollinators, and management practices

services requires the involvement of farmers and their willingness to adopt pollinator-friendly
management. However, farmer knowledge, perceptions, and actions to support on-farm pollinators and their alignment with science-based knowledge and recommendations are rarely
evaluated. To close this knowledge gap, we interviewed 560 farmers from 11 countries around
the world, cultivating at least one of four widely grown pollinator-dependent crops (apple, avocado, kiwifruit, oilseed rape). We particularly focused on non-bee crop pollinators which,
despite being important pollinators of many crops, received less research attention than bees. We
found that farmers perceived bees to be more important pollinators than other flower-visiting
insects. However, around 75% of the farmers acknowledged that non-bees contributed to the
pollination of their crops, seeing them as additional pollinators rather than substitutes for bees.
Despite farmers rating their own observations as being most important in how they perceived the contribution of different crop pollinator taxa, their perception aligned closely with results from
available scientific studies across crops and countries. Farmer perceptions were also linked with
their pollinator management practices, e.g. farmers who used managed bees for crop pollination
services (more than half the farmers) rated these managed bees as particularly important.
Interestingly, their willingness to establish wildflower strips or manage hedgerows to enhance
pollinator visitation was linked to their ecological knowledge of non-bees or to government
subsidies. Farmers adapted practices to enhance pollination services depending on the crop,
which indicates an understanding of differences in the pollination ecology of crops. Almost half of
the farmers had changed on-farm pollination management in the past 10 years and farm practices
differed greatly between countries. This suggests integrated crop pollination measures are being
adapted by farmers to reach best pollinator management practices. Our findings highlight the
importance of studying local knowledge as a key to co-design locally-adapted measures to
facilitate pollinator-integrated food production as ecological intensification tools.
