Carbon emission plays a vital role in global warming. In addition to this, wastages due to the deterioration have a hazardous impact on the ecosystem. The responsible managers’ primary concern is to form a sustainable supply chain. Further, supply chain managers select some appropriate combinations when dealing with items that possess cross-price elasticity of demand to make a profitable system. The present model aims to make a sustainable supply chain to reduce waste by obtaining the optimal values of production rate, batch size, several shipments, and preservation investment such that the total profit of the system is maximum. In the present study, a supply chain model with two manufacturers and one common retailer is developed. The proposed supply chain deals with products having negative or positive cross-price elasticity of demand. The carbon emission is also considered, which is associated with different operational activities of inventory such as preparation of setup of manufacturers, transportation of products, waste management, and holding stock at manufacturers and the retailer’s end. The objective function in the present study is a mixed-integer nonlinear optimization problem. A solution method- ology based on differential calculus is adopted. The result shows that products of low negative or high positive cross-price elasticity are a profitable combination. Additionally, a 20% reduction in wastage quantity is observed due to the investment in preservation technology. This result indicates that preservation technology positively impacts the environment and the finance associated with the inventory system. The proposed integrated system’s sustainability is illustrated with numerical examples, sensitivity analysis, and pictorial representation. In addition to this, several valuable managerial insights based on the study are provided.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

72 Carbon emissions of coal supply chain: An innovative perspective from physical to economic

Carbon emissions reduction is not only physical, but also rooted in powerful economic actions. Coal- related emissions reduction strategies mainly focus on the physical quantity of carbon emissions, rather than the economic efficiency. So it’s necessary to strengthen the analysis of carbon emission reduction strategies from the perspective of economic value. Based on the theory of coal supply chain management, this study builds a carbon dioxide accounting model of China’s coal supply chain. The indicators for the process-based carbon emissions and carbon emissions per unit of economic value of various coal products are evaluated from the perspective of the whole coal life cycle. The results show that the processing and conversion of coal are the most important sources of carbon emissions in the coal life cycle. Coal-fueled electricity is the largest contributor to carbon emissions of all coal products. The coal-to-heat process has the highest carbon emissions per unit of economic value. Emission reduction strategies for coal supply chain are given in this research from both the physical and economic perspective. To realize emission reduction based on the physical perspective, it’s helpful to decrease coal consumption by reducing the proportion of coal-fired power and the gas capture technology should be promoted to facilitate gas utilization. Implementing the coal transition to natural gas policy and developing heat recovery technology have an effect on carbon emissions reduction from the economic viewpoint of coal supply chain.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. 73 An exploratory study of the adaptation of green supply chain management in construction industry: The case of Indian Construction Companies

Indian construction industry has not been addressed adequately in the context of green supply chain practices. However, various drivers, enablers and barriers for adoption of green supply chain practices have been reported in the literature. In view of these stylists facts, the main aim of the present research work is first to investigate the adaptability of green supply chain practices by various categories of Indian construction companies followed by identifying the correlation of drivers, enablers and barriers with the construction industry readiness of adaptation of green supply chain practices. Finally, these drivers, enablers and barriers are prioritized by using the AHP methodology. A questionnaire survey was disseminated to senior construction project managers of Indian construction companies having different size as well as area of operations. Preliminary analysis is performed by using the descriptive statistics. Four hypotheses are tested using ANOVA and spearman’s correlation coefficient. The priority structure of drivers, enablers and barriers is also developed by using the AHP methodology. Results demonstrate that institutional theory, complexity theory, ecological modernization theory, resource-based view and resource dependency theory are well supported. The study will be helpful for the construction project managers/clean production policy makers in taking more informed, systematic and efficient decisions, while adapting the sustainable supply chain practices in the context of construction industry.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. 74 Critical factors for the realization of sustainable supply chain innovations - Model development based on a systematic literature review

The challenges of sustainable development require whole supply chains and networks to drive change and innovation. However, most existing research on sustainable innovations is on a company level and the dominating company focus in practice drives “silo” approaches, short-term thinking, and profit maximization. Consequently, there is a need for research and new models that facilitate sustainable supply chain innovations. The purpose of this paper is to identify, categorize, and evaluate the importance of critical factors for the realization of sustainable supply chain innovation, and to contribute with a process model for the development of sustainable supply chain innovation. A systematic literature re- view and content analysis of relevant sustainable supply chain innovation literature were performed in five steps starting with (1) question formulation followed by (2) locating studies, (3) selection and evaluation, (4) analysis and synthesis, and (5) reporting and using the results. The analysis resulted in 14 main categories of critical factors. Collaboration is by far the most frequently observed main category, followed by strategic orientation, culture, practices, and political context. The paper contributes with a process model for the realization of sustainable supply chain innovation. The process model is based on a design-thinking model for innovation where the critical factors are integrated into different spaces for innovation. In practice, the model could provide managers with the most critical factors for sustainable supply chain innovation, and could provide advice on when and how to manage these factors during the innovation process. The critical factors and the process model proposed could guide further research, enabling such research to adopt more complex approaches to the development of improved guidance, and provide support for the realization of sustainable development.© 2021 The Authors. Enablers, levers and benefits of Circular Economy in the Electrical and Electronic Equipment supply chain: a literature review-2021
Circular Economy in the Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) supply chain has a significant (and still unexploited) potential. This paper aims to systematically review the knowledge emerging from the literature at the intersection between Circular Economy and the EEE supply chain, with a special focus on enablers, levers, and their potential environmental, economic and social benefits. An original framework is developed to categorise Circular Economy enablers, levers and potential benefits. Companies in the EEE industry aiming to implement Circular Economy can exploit several enablers (grouped into digitalization, government intervention, and users’ active role) and levers (grouped into circular product design, ser- vitised business models, and supply chain management) to generate economic, environmental and social benefits. Based on the framework, 115 articles were scrutinised. The analysis led to the definition of a research agenda, with policy and industry implications. To advance Circular Economy research in the EEE supply chain, future studies should address: (i) the enabling role of digitalization, particularly within blockchain, 3D Printing, augmented and virtual reality; (ii) design strategies focused on ‘reduce’; (iii) servitised business models based on result-oriented offerings; (iv) collaboration in the EEE supply chain;(v) the assessment of social and economic benefits to users. Future research should also investigate the systemic interrelations between enablers, levers and benefits.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

76 The questions we ask: Opportunities and challenges for using big data analytics to strategically manage human capital resources

Big data analytics have transformed research in many fields, including the business areas of marketing, accounting and finance, and supply chain management. Yet, the discussion surrounding big data analytics in human resource management has primarily focused on job candidate screenings. In this article, we consider how significant strategic human capital questions can be addressed with big data analytics, enabling HR to enhance overall firm performance. We also examine how new data sources that help assess workforce performance in real time can assist in the identification and development of the knowledge stars that contribute to firm performance disproportionately as well as help reinforce firm capabilities. But in order for big data analytics to be successful in the HR field, regulatory and ethical challenges must also be addressed; these include privacy concerns and, in Europe, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We conclude by discussing how big data analytics can facilitate strategic change within HR and the organization as a whole.

77 Make at home or abroad? Manufacturing reshoring through a GPN lens: A Norwegian case study

The explorative paper investigates the drivers for the emerging trend of manufacturing reshoring from low- to high-cost locations. To date research on the reshoring phenomenon has been dominated by micro-level analyses of firms in supply chain management and reported in international business literature. The paper introduces reshoring as a research topic to the economic geography research field, arguing that it connects with the broader topic of regional development. To provide a better understanding of the reshoring phenomenon and to test the applicability of the global production network (GPN) framework in the analysis of the phenomenon, the authors analyse the reshoring of nine of Norwegian manufacturing firms. With the multiscalar lens provided by the GPN framework, the authors find that the implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies is a driver for manufacturing reshoring, but only when matched with key regional assets such as automation knowledge and competence, key human capital, and region-specific manufacturing competence. Additionally, reshoring decisions are influenced by extra-regional factors such as changes in the global economy and market fluctuations. Furthermore, the paper provides a refined conceptualization of strategic coupling processes by including acts of disinvestments and reinvestments performed by actors within global production networks. Accordingly, the authors advocate a more nuanced understanding, defined as partial coupling processes, in contrast to the pre- dominant understanding of coupling processes as ruptures. This refined conceptualization provides enhanced analytical purchase when studying the reshoring phenomenon, as it illuminates the complexity of firms’ pro- duction and sourcing strategies and the resulting implications for the economic landscape.

78 Potentials of Blockchain Technologies in Supply Chain Management – A Conceptual Model

Meanwhile the rapidly advancing digitization affects almost all areas of society and business. This development is based in particular on the omni-present use of digital information technology. One of these technologies awarded with special potential related to business is the distributed ledger technology. The objective of this study is to investigate influences on the potentials of blockchain technology, being one distributed ledger technology, in the area of supply chain management. An empirical, qualitative data collection attained through expert interviews forms the data basis. The conceptual model is derived by using Grounded Theory Methodology to evaluate the interviews. Important influencing factors (trust, efficiency, costs, control, privacy, scalability) for the potential of blockchain technology in supply chain management and moderating effects (use case, knowledge, collaboration, regulations) form the conceptual model in order to deduce recommendations for business.© 2020 The Authors. در این تحقیق، یافته هایی در ارتباط با چشم انداز اجرای فناوری های تحول دیجیتال (DTT) به منظور دستیابی به فرآیندهای پایدار در تدارکات و مدیریت زنجیره تامین شرکت های تولیدی ارائه شده است.DTT می تواند از نظر بهره وری انرژی ، کاهش فواصل انتقال و توزیع و بهینه سازی منابع تدارکات بهبود یابد. این تحقیق براساس مطالعات موردی کیفی در میان تولیدکنندگان انجام شده است. به دلیل اینکه تحقیقات فعلی اغلب بر بعد اقتصادی متمرکز است، تأکید ویژه ای بر پایداری اجتماعی و محیطی شده است. نتایج نشان می دهد که استقرار DTT در تدارکات و مدیریت زنجیره تأمین به طور متوسط تأثیر مثبتی بر بعد پایداری زیست محیطی و اجتماعی دارد.
