1 Sustainable supply chain management considering technology investments and government intervention
With the aggravation of the global environmental crisis, consumers are keen to use green products, and enterprises are more committed to technology investment and innovation to meet consumers’ green preferences. This study considers a supply chain system composed of one manufacturer and one retailer, where the manufacturer invests in green emission reduction technology (GERT) to reduce carbon emissions, and the retailer invests in information disclosure technology to transmit the higher greenness quality of products to consumers. We discuss the technology investment decisions and cooperation strategies between the manufacturer and the retailer, as well as the impacts of government regulations on supply chain members’ decisions. We consider three scenarios: decentralized, government intervention, and cost sharing and government intervention. We derive the optimal technology investment decisions of the manufacturer and retailer. In addition, we identify the conditions for the manufacturer to subsidize the retailer’s disclosure technology costs. The results show that a higher emission reduction subsidy encourages GERT investments and increases supply chain members’ profits. However, when the government sets a higher emission reduction standard, the subsidy neither increases the emission reduction nor benefits the retailer, and hurts the manufacturer’s profit. We also demonstrate that when there is cost sharing and government intervention, emission reduction and supply chain performance are always better than in the other scenarios.

2 Balanced Scorecard approach in deducing supply chain performance
Supply chain management showcases a major role in enhancing organizational efficiency and effective- ness. A proficient supply chain can lead to abridged costs, augmented market shares, improved transactions and sustainable customer relationships. Nevertheless, designing a supply chain alone may be inadequate in bettering the overall performance of an organization which can only be improved through evaluation. For deducing supply chain performance, the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is an appropriate tool, apart from Supply Chain Operations Reference models (SCOR), Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Heuristic techniques based models. Modern firms face inabilities in measuring their real performance against the demanded performance. Real performance is often greater or lesser than the demanded performance which leads to uncertain and delicate supply chains. Accounting for this ambiguity and improving supply chain performance using Balanced Scorecard model is the emphasis of this research effort, by providing an approach to inspect value creation from four standpoints such as financial, customer, internal business process, learning and growth. In this paper, the drag factors which affects the above four standpoints have been explored and removed, to mend the supply chain for better profits.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. 3 Multi-party coordination in sustainable supply chain under consumer green awareness
The rapid growth of the green market in recent years has motivated manufacturing companies to operate carbon abatement schemes for better sustainability. This paper investigates sustainability coordination among three major supply chain parties in the context of consumer green awareness by applying a Stackelberg game model. Instead of considering the manufacturer as the only party to operate carbon management schemes, this paper examines a model in which both the supplier and the manufacturer embark on green investment under make-to-order production. Meanwhile, the retailer considers the influence of green consumers on the demand rate and determines the order quantity for the manufacturer. This paper analyses the sustainability and profitability performance of the supply chain under centralised and decentralised scenarios, and applies the quantity discount and cost-sharing contracts to improve supply chain performance. It is shown that greener markets are more profitable and Pareto improvement can be achieved for all parties under a quantity discount contract. High investment cost hinders the company from achieving a higher emission reduction level. Further, increased consumer green awareness can motivate companies to achieve a higher emission reduction level, but not always lead to improved total carbon emission reductions resulting from the increase in product demand caused by green awareness. It also shows the importance of involving suppliers in green investment, due to their high carbon emission during the component production processes. The findings of this research provide theoretical support for supply chain parties to achieve better coordination in balancing profitability and carbon abatement.

4 Supply chain performance and economic growth: The impact of COVID-19 disruptions
Reliable supply chains are crucial to the productivity and economic growth of nations. Despite the recognition of its importance, especially brought to the forefront by the challenges of the coronavirus crises, formal research on the contribution of supply chain logistics is less forthcoming. This paper uses data on 130 nations to examine the relative effects of different aspects of supply chain logistics, including overall logistics performance, and the performance of the input and output dimensions of logistics, on economic growth. The results show that improvements in the supply chain logistics performance yield positive growth dividends. Further, the input and output dimensions of logistics performance have positive growth effects, with some quantitative differences. Significantly, the growth impact of logistics performance varies across nations with different growth rates. Implications for public policy and spillovers for COVID-19 initiatives are discussed.© 2021 The Society for Policy Modeling. Published by Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. 5 Nonlinear analysis and active management of production-distribution in nonlinear supply chain model using sliding mode control theory
This paper deals with system dynamics approach for dynamical behaviors and control synthesis of supply chain system by utilizing three-stage production-distribution model. The presented approach offers systematic tools for determining fundamental relationships between multi-echelons in the supply chain dynamics by using eigenvalues, bifurcation, and time history investigation. By exploring system dynamics on time series analysis, it is found that system performance has suffered severely from the bullwhip effect under impacts of model uncertainties and perturbed demand. The novel fractional-order sliding mode control algorithm has been presented based on adaptation mechanism, ensuring that the shipment flows are robustly stable in supply chain networks against disruptions. This is a smarter way of getting sufficient strength to sustain existing competitive market for mitigating the risks and improving the supply chain performance. The system stability has been thoroughly analyzed by using Routh-Hurwitz criterion and Lyapunov theory. Extensive numerical simulations have been conducted to obtain insights into the system behaviors and to validate effectiveness of active control policies by matching the shipment sent to customer demand, ensuring supply chains resilience. Finally, it is found that the presented approach can help decision-makers develop more efficient supply chain management system against severe market disruptions.

6 Valuing Supply Chain Performance Within and Across Manufacturing Industries: A DEA-based Approach
Journal Pre-proof Managers often use financial metrics based on internal accounting data to gauge firm performance. In this paper, we analyze firm value and related levers of operational supply chain (SC) performance from a financial market perspective. This allows us to study the contributions of profitability (earns) and asset utilization (turns) as the two major drivers of firm value. For this purpose, we apply data envelopment analysis to a large-scale longitudinal dataset of listed US companies (2007–2015) that covers 13 manufacturing industries. In so doing, we shed light on the implications of the 2008/2009 financial crisis for operational SC performance. Our findings can be summarized as follows: First, earns and turns are negatively correlated from an internal accounting-based viewpoint that distinguishes ‘high earns/low turns’ from ‘low earns/high turns’ industries. Second, manufacturing com-∗Phone +49-7131-645636-826, fax +49-7131-645636-27Email addresses: gerd.hahn@ggs.de (G.J. Hahn),marcus.brandenburg@hs-flensburg.de (M. Finally, we observe declining efficacy of approaches to value- based supply chain management in manufacturing industries since 2007 (the last year before the financial crisis). General firm value appreciation in the stock markets overcompensated for this decline until 2015.

7 An analytic infrastructure for harvesting big data to enhance supply chain performance
Big data has already received a tremendous amount of attention from managers in every industry, policy and decision makers in governments, and researchers in many different areas. However, the current big data analytics have conspicuous limitations, especially when dealing with information silos. In this pa- per, we synthesise existing researches on big data analytics and propose an integrated infrastructure for breaking down the information silos, in order to enhance supply chain performance. The analytic infras- tructure effectively leverages rich big data sources (i.e. databases, social media, mobile and sensor data) and quantifies the related information using various big data analytics. The information generated can be used to identify a required competence set (which refers to a collection of skills and knowledge used for specific problem solving) and to provide roadmaps to firms and managers in generating actionable supply chain strategies, facilitating collaboration between departments, and generating fact-based opera- tional decisions. We showcase the usefulness of the analytic infrastructure by conducting a case study in a world-leading company that produces sports equipment. The results indicate that it enabled managers: (a) to integrate information silos in big data analytics to serve as inputs for new product ideas; (b) to capture and interrelate different competence sets to provide an integrated perspective of the firm’s op- erations capabilities; and (c) to generate a visual decision path that facilitated decision making regarding how to expand competence sets to support new product development.

8 Interorganizational cooperation and supplier performance in high-technology supply chains
Never in history have global supply-chain relationships in high-tech electronics firms been more sophisticated, complicated, and almost always tied in some major aspect to China. This research examines how interorganizational (IO) cooperation impacts performance and what role relationship learning and information technology (IT) integration play in the value-creation process for Chinese suppliers in business-to-business (B2B) supply chains. We examine this issue using data collected from face-to-face interviews with supply chain managers and executives from 1,004 Chinese high-tech electronic component suppliers. The results strongly support the hypothesis that IO cooperation improves a suppliers performance regarding both its major customer and overall marketplace. Relationship learning and IT integration are important mediating variables that drive performance. The strongest effect in our study was the influence of IO cooperation on relationship learning. A unique aspect of this study is that it focuses on a large sample of a specific supplier type—high-tech Chinese suppliers. This, combined with the fact that the sampled companies were involved in manufacturing 13 different product groups, greatly increases the generalizability of the results.

9 Big data analytics as an operational excellence approach to enhance sustainable supply chain performance
Operations management is a core organizational function involved in the management of activities to produce and deliver products and services. Appropriate operations decisions rely on assessing and using information; a task made more challenging in the Big Data era. Effective management of data (big data analytics; BDA), along with staff capabilities (the talent capability in the use of big data) support firms to leverage big data analytics and organizational learning in support of sustainable supply chain management outcomes. The current study uses dynamic capability theory as a foundation for evaluating the role of BDA capability as an operational excellence approach in improving sustainable supply chain performance. We surveyed mining executives in the emerging economy of South Africa and received 520 valid responses (47% response rate). We used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the data. The findings show that big data analytics management capabilities have a strong and significant effect on innovative green product development and sustainable supply chain outcomes. Big data analytics talent capabilities have a weaker but still significant effect on employee development and sustainable supply chain outcomes. Innovation and learning performance affect sustainable supply chain performance, and supply chain innovativeness has an important moderating role. A contribution of the study is identifying two pathways that managers can use to improve sustainable supply chain outcomes in the mining industry, based on big data analytics capabilities.
