Implementing Graph-Theoretic Feature Selection by Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm
پیاده سازی انتخاب ویژگی گراف-نظری توسط الگوریتم بهینه سازی تقریبی کوانتومی-2022 Feature selection plays a significant role in computer science; nevertheless, this task is intractable since its search space scales exponentially with the number of dimensions. Motivated by the potential advantages of near-term quantum computing, three graph-theoretic feature selection (GTFS) methods, including minimum cut (MinCut)-based, densest k -subgraph (DkS)-based, and maximal-independent set/minimal vertex cover (MIS/MVC)-based, are investigated in this article, where the original graph-theoretic problems are naturally formulated as the quadratic problems in binary variables and then solved using the quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA). Specifically, three separate graphs are created from the raw feature set, where the vertex set consists of individual features and pairwise measure describes the edge. The corresponding feature subset is generated by deriving a subgraph from the established graph using QAOA. For the above three GTFS approaches, the solving procedure and quantum circuit for the corresponding graph-theoretic problems are formulated with the framework of QAOA. In addition, those proposals could be employed as a local solver and integrated with the Tabu search algorithm for solving large-scale GTFS problems utilizing limited quantum bit resource. Finally, extensive numerical experiments are conducted with 20 publicly available datasets and the results demonstrate that each model is superior to its classical scheme. In addition, the complexity of each model is only O(pn2) even in the worst cases, where p is the number of layers in QAOA and n is the number of features.

Reordering and Partitioning of Distributed Quantum Circuits
مرتب سازی مجدد و پارتیشن بندی مدارهای کوانتومی توزیع شده-2022 A new approach to reduce the teleportation cost and execution time in Distributed Quantum
Circuits (DQCs) was proposed in the present paper. DQCs, a well-known solution, have been applied to
solve the problem of maintaining a large number of qubits next to each other. In the distributed quantum
system, the qubits are transferred to another subsystem by a quantum protocol like teleportation. Hence,
a novel method was proposed to optimize the number of teleportation and to reduce the execution time for
generating DQC. To this end, first, the quantum circuit was reordered according to the qubits placement to
improve the computational execution time, and then the quantum circuit was modeled as a graph. Finally,
we combined the genetic algorithm (GA) and the modified tabu search algorithm (MTS) to partition the
graph model in order to obtain a distributed quantum circuit aimed at reducing the number of teleportation
costs. A significant reduction in teleportation cost (TC) and execution time (ET) was obtained in benchmark
circuits. In particular, we performed a more accurate optimization than the previous approaches, and the
proposed approach yielded the best results for several benchmark circuits.

Tabu search for min-max edge crossing in graphs
جستجوی تابو برای عبور از لبه های حداقل حداکثر در گراف ها -2020 Graph drawing is a key issue in the field of data analysis, given the ever-growing amount of information available today that require the use of automatic tools to represent it. Graph Drawing Problems (GDP) are hard combinatorial problems whose applications have been widely relevant in fields such as social network analysis and project management. While classically in GDPs the main aesthetic concern is re- lated to the minimization of the total sum of crossing in the graph (min-sum), in this paper we focus on a particular variant of the problem, the Min-Max GDP, consisting in the minimization of the maximum crossing among all egdes. Recently proposed in scientific literature, the Min-Max GDP is a challenging variant of the original min-sum GDP arising in the optimization of VLSI circuits and the design of in- teractive graph drawing tools. We propose a heuristic algorithm based on the tabu search methodology to obtain high-quality solutions. Extensive experimentation on an established benchmark set with both previous heuristics and optimal solutions shows that our method is able to obtain excellent solutions in short computation time. Exact and heuristic methods to solve the parallel machine scheduling problem with multi-processor tasks
روشهای دقیق و کل نگرانه برای حل مشکل زمان بندی ماشین موازی با وظایف چند پردازشگره-2018 This paper studies a special parallel machine scheduling problem where some tasks require more than one machine to process, known as the Parallel Machine Scheduling Problem with Multi-processor Tasks. Two mathematical models and several theoretical properties are proposed for the studied problem. To solve this problem, this paper develops an exact branch and bound algorithm and a heuristic tabu search algorithm. A series of numerical experiments are conducted to test the performance of these solution methods. The computational results show that the solution methods are effective and efficient in solving the problem with different sizes.

A variable neighbourhood search for fast train scheduling and routing during disturbed railway traffic situations
جستجوی همسایگی متغیر برای برنامه ریزی قطار سریع و مسیریابی در شرایط ترافیکی ناشی از ترافیک-2017 This paper focuses on the development of metaheuristic algorithms for the real-time traffic management
problem of scheduling and routing trains in complex and busy railway networks. This key optimization
problem can be formulated as a mixed integer linear program. However, since the problem is strongly
NP-hard, heuristic algorithms are typically adopted in practice to compute good quality solutions in a
short computation time. This paper presents a number of algorithmic improvements implemented in the
AGLIBRARY optimization solver in order to improve the possibility of finding good quality solutions
quickly. The optimization solver manages trains at the microscopic level of block sections and at a
precision of seconds. The solver outcome is a detailed conflict-free train schedule, being able to avoid
deadlock situations and to minimize train delays. The proposed algorithmic framework starts from a
good initial solution for the train scheduling problem with fixed routes, obtained via a truncated branch
and-bound algorithm. Variable neighbourhood search or tabu search algorithms are then applied to
improve the solution by re-routing some trains. The neighbourhood of a solution is characterized by the
set of candidate trains to be re-routed and the available routes. Computational experiments are per
formed on railway networks from different countries and various sources of disturbance. The new
algorithms often outperform a state-of-the-art tabu search algorithm and a commercial solver in terms of
reduced computation times and/or train delays.

Design optimization for security- and safety-critical distributed real-time applications
طراحی برنامه های کاربردی با بهینه سازی در زمان واقعی با امنیت و ایمنی بحرانی توزیع شده -2017 In this paper, we are interested in the design of real-time applications with security, safety, timing, and
energy requirements. The applications are scheduled with cyclic scheduling, and are mapped on dis
tributed heterogeneous architectures. Cryptographic services are deployed to satisfy security requirements
on confidentiality of messages, task replication is used to enhance system reliability, and dynamic voltage
and frequency scaling is used for energy efficiency of tasks. It is challenging to address these factors si
multaneously, e.g., better security protections need more computing resources and consume more energy,
while lower voltages and frequencies may impair schedulability and security, and also lead to reliability
degradation. We introduce a vulnerability based method to quantify the security performance of com
munications on distributed systems. We then focus on determining the appropriate security measures
for messages, the voltage and frequency levels for tasks, and the schedule tables such that the security
and reliability requirements are satisfied, the application is schedulable, and the energy consumption is
minimized. We propose a Tabu Search based metaheuristic to solve this problem. Extensive experiments
and a real-life application are conducted to evaluate the proposed techniques.

Optimal sensor deployment to increase the security of the maximal breach path in border surveillance
استقرار سنسور بهینه برای افزایش امنیت حداکثر مسیر شکست در نظارت بر مرز-2017 Article history:Received 4 May 2014Accepted 7 September 2016Available online 14 September 2016Keywords:OR in defense Border surveillanceWireless sensor networks Bilevel programming Maximal breach pathWireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are based on the collaborative effort of a large number of sensors which are low-cost, low-power, multi-functional small electronic devices. They provide a distributed sensing and monitoring environment for the area of interest and hence are used for applications such as environmen- tal monitoring, border surveillance, and target tracking. In this work we study optimal deployment of WSNs for border surveillance using a static Stackelberg game frame and propose a bilevel optimization model for the optimal deployment of a heterogenous WSN so that the security of the area under con- sideration is increased as much as possible. There are two players in this game: defender and intruder. The defender is the leader and tries to determine the best sensor locations so as to maximize the secu- rity measured in terms of coverage intensity at discretized points in the area. The well-informed intruder assuming the role of the follower is capable of destroying some of the sensors so as to identify the max- imal breach path, which represents the safest path from his perspective and thus increases the chance of being undetected by the sensors. This new approach results in a mixed-integer linear bilevel program- ming formulation that is difficult to solve exactly. Therefore, we propose three Tabu search heuristics and realize computational experiments on a large set of test instances in order to assess their performances.© 2016 Elsevier B.V.
