1 Developing sufficiency-oriented offerings for clothing users: Business approaches to support consumption reduction
ارائه پیشنهادهای کفایت گرا برای کاربران لباس: رویکردهای تجاری برای حمایت از کاهش مصرف-2020
The clothing industry’s negative social and ecological impacts have been discussed for decades, both in academia and in mainstream media. As solutions, the existing management and supply chain research literature has emphasized eco-efficiency in production, recycling, and the use of sustainable materials. However, against the backdrop of rising consumption levels, these approaches have not achieved an overall reduction in the undesired social and environmental impacts. The sufficiency approach addresses this issue and aims to reduce the total amount of clothing that is produced, used and discarded. This consumer perspective is discussed as a potentially very effective sustainability approach, but has been neglected in the management literature relating to the clothing sector. Although the sufficiency approach is often seen to contradict business goals, recent developments of service- and sharing-oriented busi- nesses indicate that sufficiency may actually inspire the development of new business opportunities. To address this research gap, this conceptual paper builds on a generic sufficiency management concept and incorporates ideas from the clothing-specific ‘slow fashion’ literature. It proposes a framework for sufficiency-oriented business offerings and investigates related management approaches for companies aiming to reduce social and environmental problems in the clothing sector.© 2019 Elsevier Ltd.

3 Expanding roles for the Swedish waste management sector in inter-organizational resource management
گسترش نقش برای بخش مدیریت ضایعات سوئدی در مدیریت منابع بین سازمانی-2017
Several waste management (WM) professionals see an ongoing shift in the focus of the industry, from that of a transport and treatment sector to that of a more integrated sustainable service provision and material production sector. To further develop such transitional ambitions, WM organizations are increasingly looking toward inter organizational resource network concepts (such as the circular economy and industrial symbiosis) as models of how they would like to create new value together with their customers and partners. This article aims to take a step in addressing uncertainties behind such transitions by analyzing barriers for inter-organizational resource management and in turn uncovering some potential opportunities and risks of novel offerings from the WM sector. Obstacles for developing innovative inter-organizational resource networks have been identified based on studies of implementing industrial symbiosis networks. Subsequently, managing executives from Swedish private and public WM organizations were interviewed regarding the sector’s capacity to overcome such barriers – opportunities and risks of providing new resource management services – and how their organizations might approach the role of actively facilitating more resource efficient regions. Eco-Industrial park management and contracting out holistic resource management are some areas in which the respondents see WM organizations offering new services. In relation to such approaches, various risks (e.g. being cut out of investment benefits, or unstable supply) and opportunities (e.g. new markets and enhanced sustainability profiles) were identified. Additionally, it was seen that WM companies would need to make substantial changes to their business approach, becoming less dependent on flows of mixed materials for example, if they are to become even more central value chain actors. To strengthen such approaches, it was seen that the sector will need to find methods to strategically build strong, long term partnerships, expand upon and take advantage of available knowledge resources (i.e. best practice technologies and regional material flows), and explore new business models (i.e. stockpiling, park management, or waste minimization). Additionally, working with sector representatives to argue for a more balanced market conditions next to primary production should assist the viability of new offerings in the wider market.

4 Sustainable tourism, progress, challenges and opportunities: introduction to this special volume
گردشگری پایدار، پیشرفت، چالشها و فرصت ها: مقدمه ای بر این جلد ویژه-2016
The term sustainable tourism emerged in the late 1980s and has become firmly established in both tourism policies and strategies and tourism research (Hall, 2011). After more than 25 years of attention it is timely to consider the state of research and practice in sustainable tourism. This special volume was established with exactly that goal in mind and this introduction seeks to set the context for this critical examination and reflection on sustainable tourism. Another objective of this introduction was to briefly describe the range of contributions selected for this SV. The articles are organised into four thematic areas of research: community stakeholders' perspectives and business approaches to sustainability in tourism, cultural responses, and methodological challenges related to sustainability. The articles shine a light on issues of importance within sustainable tourism, and in so doing, it is hoped that researchers from other disciplines and backgrounds are encouraged to consider investigating the inter-relationships between societal sustainability and tourism more broadly. The authors of this SV also sought to do something different from the majority of previous papers, which is to bring these issues to readers primarily concerned with sustainability rather than only with tourism. Before briefly discussing the contributions that make up the SV, this introduction provides a discussion of the inter-relationships between tourism and sustainability, a consideration of the ongoing challenges inherent in tackling sustainability and tourism, and a brief overview of the potential for tourism to contribute to the transformative changes required to move to truly sustainable societies. The introduction is concluded with an optimistic look into the future of sustainability-driven work in tourism.
