18: Data deduplication applications in cognitive science and computer vision research
18: کاربردهای تکثیر داده ها در علوم شناختی و تحقیقات بینایی ماشین-2021 Advances in technologies in the field of computing and semiconductor research have made the
devices and gadgets portable, which are used in all modern applications ranging from healthcare
to robotics and self-driving car. These applications require capturing huge amount of information
through various sensors in the form of images, videos, and other physical stimuli. If the data are in
the form of images or videos, then the storage becomes a matter of concern. Some image processing is involved where images are processed using suitable signal processing systems and components. The typical computer vision (CV) system that actually mimics human vision system is
shown in Fig. 181. We can see in the figure that some stimuli indicated by some physical excitation is captured by sensors and sent for preprocessing to make the captured data appropriate for
further operation. Once the data become proper for specific application, it is subjected to some
machine learning methods or artificial intelligence for understanding of the data. This may be
used as the process for learning the data and getting some suitable features that would be used in
postprocessing of the data. CV then classifies the data and outputs some decisions or commands
depending on the applications. The data that are used in CV are mainly of image types and the
operation is image processing.

Review for Cognitive Systems Research of the book The Brain and AI, by authors Karl Schlagenhauf and Fanji Gu
مروری بر تحقیقات سیستمهای شناختی کتاب مغز و هوش مصنوعی ، توسط نویسندگان Karl Schlagenhauf و Fanji Gu-2020 The human brain is often considered the most complex system known. It has a fantastic capacity to learn and remember, to recognize
patterns in space and time, solve problems of all kinds, innovate tools and machines, create beautiful art and science. Is it reasonable to
believe that we, in a foreseeable future, will be able to understand all the wonders of our own brain, enough to be able to mimic it and
build artificial brains and minds that correspond to or even surpass the capacity of the human origin? Can we seriously believe that we
(soon, or ever) will be able to build robots that know of and can reflect upon their own existence?
This review of the book, The Brain and AI, deals with such issues, but in a very special way. It is written as a fascinating dialogue
between the two authors, Chinese scientist Fanji Gu and German engineer Karl Schlagenhauf, where they discuss the development of
neuroscience and artificial intelligence (AI) with a critical examination of given ‘‘truths” in these fields. The Brain and AI is indeed worth
reading for many reasons, regardless if you are a student or researcher in any of the many fields of science discussed here (e.g. physics,
computer science, neuroscience, cognitive science psychology, social science), or if you are just interested in the current and future development
of brain research and artificial intelligence. The book is both educating and entertaining and can be strongly recommended. Keywords: Review | Neuroscience | Artificial intelligence | Human Brain Project | Consciousness | Free Will |

The affective facial recognition task: The influence of cognitive styles and exposure times
وظیفه شناختی چهره عاطفی: تأثیر سبک های شناختی و زمان مواجهه با آنها-2019 The main task of emotional facial recognition is to understand human emotion expression through the
recognition of facial expressions, so as to achieve more effective communication and interpersonal communication.
Therefore, facial recognition plays an important role in people’s daily lives. In addition, the
research of facial recognition is also helpful to understand the human perception processing mode, and
promote the development of pattern recognition, cognitive science, neural network and other fields. With
the development of cognitive science, facial recognition technology has been continuously improved, and
emotional facial recognition tasks have received attention in the fields of pattern recognition and artificial
intelligence, and have become a research hotspot. Among them, pattern recognition is a cognitive system
applied to many fields. For the first time, we confirmed the effects of facial memory time, personal cognitive
style, and emotions associated with the target face on facial recognition patterns. This study measured
the impact of time, cognitive style, and emotional type of 62 qualified college students. The
research results show that cognitive style and facial emotional content are of great significance for face
pattern recognition. Specifically, students classified as ‘‘dependent” have achieved good results in face
pattern recognition, and positive and negative strong emotional faces have left behind those who show
neutral emotions. A deeper impression. Finally, an unusual phenomenon was discovered, which indicates
that the shorter the time spent on the face of the memory, the higher the recognition score. Keywords: Face recognition | Pattern recognition | Cognitive style | Face emotion |

Modeling multi-level mechanisms of environmental attitudes and behaviours: The example of carsharing in Berlin
مدل سازی مکانیسم های چند سطحی نگرش ها و رفتارهای محیطی: نمونه ای از خودروهای رایج در برلین-2017 Psychological research practices are often prone to individualistic biases, emphasizing individual-level
mechanisms of attitudes, behaviour, and persuasion, while neglecting the dynamics of communication
in social networks. We illustrate with our InnoMind simulation model how agent-based modeling as a
research method can account for the multi-level interactions between information processing in indi
vidual brains and flows of information in societies. InnoMind is based on theories of emotional cognition
from cognitive science, theories of attitudes and persuasion from social psychology, and theories of social
networks from sociology. In a case study, we show how the model can be used to address practical
research questions in environmental psychology: We describe computer simulations with InnoMind that
can serve as ex-ante evaluations of suitable campaign strategies for the promotion of carsharing as an
innovative means of sustainable urban transportation. We discuss how empirical/experimental versus
computational/theoretical research strategies in environmental psychology can and should be regarded
as mutually informative.

Thinking forensics: Cognitive science for forensic practitioners
تفکر پزشکی قانونی : علوم شناختی برای پزشکان پزشک قانونی-2017 Human factors and their implications for forensic science have attracted increasing levels of interest across crim
inal justice communities in recent years. Initial interest centred on cognitive biases, but has since expanded such
that knowledge from psychology and cognitive science is slowly infiltrating forensic practices more broadly. This
article highlights a series of important findings and insights of relevance to forensic practitioners. These include
research on human perception, memory, context information, expertise, decision-making, communication, expe
rience, verification, confidence, and feedback. The aim of this article is to sensitise forensic practitioners (and law
yers and judges) to a range of potentially significant issues, and encourage them to engage with research in these
domains so that they may adapt procedures to improve performance, mitigate risks and reduce errors. Doing so
will reduce the divide between forensic practitioners and research scientists as well as improve the value and
utility of forensic science evidence.
