1 Application of green supply chain management in the oil Industries: Modeling and performance analysis

Environmental concerns relating to production affairs have made various organizations use green practices in different processes of supply chain, because the green supply chain management (GSCM) is considered as an important organizational philosophy to decrease environmental risks and as a preventive approach in order to increase environmental performance and achievement of competitive advantages for organizations. The purpose of the present article is to design an interactive model for the practices of GSCM and its application to clustering oil industries for analyzing their green performance. Therefore, the literature was studied and a total of fifteen practices were obtained using experts’ opinions in academic and oil industry professionals. In next, the fuzzy interpretative structural modeling (FISM) approach was utilized so as to determine the relationship between the practices through considering the linguistic ambiguities of judgments and designing the structural model. The existing relationships within the structural model were studied and tested by means of structural equation modeling (SEM). After that, the relative importance of each practice was calculated by applying fuzzy analysis network process (FANP). In the next, the oil industries were categorized in two clusters using the K-means algorithm aggregated to the particle swarm optimization algorithm. Results of the present study showed that ‘‘legal requirements and regulations”, ‘‘intra-organizational environmental management”, ‘‘green design” and ‘‘green technology” are of root and influential practices with relatively more importance than others; in addition, it was cleared that the first cluster industries have high performance whereas the second ones have medium performance from the viewpoint of considering the practices of GSCM. Finally, the discriminant function designed to forecasting environment performance of the oil industries and member- ship to clusters for each of them.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. 2 Designing and planning the downstream oil supply chain under uncertainty using a fuzzy programming approach

This paper addresses the strategic and tactical planning of a downstream oil supply chain (DOSC) subject to different sources of uncertainty. This problem is formulated as a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model, whereas uncertainty is tackled using chance constrained programming with fuzzy parameters. The MILP model aims at determining the network design and the products distribution plan in a cost-effective way. A real case study on the Brazilian oil industry is used to validate the model. The proposed model shows to be a valuable decision-support tool in order to aid the decision-making process in the strategic and tactical planning of real-life problems.

3 Factors influencing blockchain adoption in supply chain management practices: A study based on the oil industry
عوامل موثر بر پذیرش بلاکچین در راهکارهای مدیریت زنجیره تامین: مطالعه ای مبتنی بر صنعت نفت-2021
Planning to adopt the Blockchain is very active in many industries, especially in supply chains. Researchers believe that the Radio-frequency identification (RFIDs), yesterday’s Blockchain, is now obsolete. The strongest reason that the Blockchain is the tool of this era is its unique features; real-time information sharing, cyber-security, transparency, reliability, traceability, and visibility, all of which boost the supply-chain performance. Despite the extensive literature on Blockchain, in recent years, no clear framework has defined whether a supply chain should implement Blockchain or not. This study attempts to fill this gap by proposing a framework for complex supply chain networks. In doing so, first, we identified the supply-chain practices of the oil industry in Pakistan, then we empirically analyzed the impact of these practices on operational performance. The results show that the supply chain management (SCM) practices positively impact operational performance. On the other hand, with the help of literature, we identified different Blockchain features and their influence on different supply chain practices. This study guides managers and decision-makers to evaluate their current supply-chain practices and understand the relationship between supply-chain practices and Blockchain features, and how different Blockchain features can help improving supply-chain practices and ultimately improving operational performance.

5 Knowledge management performance measurement based on World-Class Competitive Advantages to develop strategic-oriented projects: Case of Iranian oil industry

Knowledge Management (KM) is one of the main sources for achieving World-Class Competitive Advantages (WCCAs), and is also an incentive for the development of strategic-oriented projects. Because subsidiaries of the oil industry are always looking for WCCAs to implement their strategic-oriented projects, it is important to measure WCCAs-based KM performance. We offered a WCCAs-based Knowledge Management Performance Measurement (KMPM) instrument to develop strategic-oriented projects and validated it in the Iranian oil in- dustry. Based on an in-depth review of previous studies, the indicators of KMPM that could lead to WCCAs were extracted. Then, an exploratory factor analysis and a confirmatory factor analysis were used to identify and confirm the criteria of the proposed instrument. Based on the proposed instrument, the KM performance of the subsidiaries of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum (MoP) was assessed, and finally, strategic-oriented projects were suggested. Our proposed instrument includes four main criteria, namely “knowledge quality”, “knowledge utility”, “knowledge innovation”, and “business results”, all of which are valid in the Iranian oil industry. Our findings also present 17 strategic-oriented projects. The policymakers and the top managers of the surveyed companies could obtain more knowledge regarding measuring the WCCAs-based KM performance, and utilize it to develop their strategic-oriented projects. The present research is one of the first studies of its kind that pro- vides a WCCAs-based KMPM instrument and expands the literature on KMPM and WCCAs.

6 Integrated reservoir/wellbore production model for oil field asphaltene deposition management

Asphaltene deposition prevention, mitigation, and management remains a major challenge to the oil industry due to its complexity, poor understanding, and inadequate predictive tools. A literature review study on asphaltene deposition revealed a lack of integrative models that link reservoir, wellbore, and surface facility to predict asphaltene deposition taking into account the effect of their interaction on asphaltene deposition. In addition, most of the existing studies are focused on either modeling the thermodynamics aspects of asphaltene precipitation, or single-phase asphaltene deposition. Therefore, it is critical to model asphaltene deposition under multiphase flow conditions to, accurately, develop prevention, mitigation, and management strategies, which depends on not only asphaltene thermodynamics, but also multiphase flow hydrodynamics and behavior. The objective of this study is to develop a robust systematic approach for predicting asphaltene deposition in production system through coupling reservoir and wellbore production models, which provides a cost-effective optimal mitigation and management strategies. The proposed work in this study integrates five models, namely reservoir asphaltene deposition model, equation-of-state (EOS) model, asphaltene thermodynamics precipitation model, mechanistic multiphase flow model, and asphaltene deposition transport model. The abovementioned models are integrated using developed workflow platform, which enables compositional tracking throughout the entire production system. Furthermore, experimental fluid characterization data was used to tune the EOS model to ensure accurate phase behavior and volumetric calculations, and to tune the thermodynamic asphaltene precipitation model. A field case input data is used to evaluate the proposed integrated model, which indicates severe asphaltene depositions in production tubing. The proposed model predicted the location and growth of asphaltene deposition thickness with time and space in the inner production-tubing wall. The model results also show that local asphaltene deposition reduced tubing cross-sectional area, increasing in-situ superficial oil and gas velocities, thus increasing pressure drop and decreasing flowrate. Sensitivity analyses to investigate several parameters such as depletion drive mechanism, asphaltene particle size, and injection of CO2 rich gas on asphaltene deposition show excellent results that are aligned with the physical and theoretical understanding of asphaltene deposition. These results are critical in selecting, optimizing, and implementi.

7 Energy, uncertainty, and entrepreneurship: John D Rockefeller’s sequential approach to transaction costs management in the early oil industry

This article delves into the challenge of successful entrepreneurship in the energy industry under conditions of uncertainty by examining the case of John D Rockefeller’s Standard Oil Company, which rapidly seized control of an initially-uncertain industry. It finds that Rockefeller cemented control through a willingness to internalise contextual uncertainty (related to the nature of the energy business) as a stepping stone to managing contractual uncertainty (related to transactions with other parties). This finding suggests that thinking sequentially about the management of contextual and contractual uncertainty aids entrepreneurial success in the field of energy. This suggestion accords with standing calls in the transaction costs literature, which means that findings may generalise to some extent. However, the exploratory nature of the analysis implies the need for further research about the argument’s compatibility with modern energy practices and its generalisability.

8 Escape the lion cage: Social networks by catch zones of small-scale fisheries in the oil settlement of Lobitos (Peru)

Artisanal fishing communities are often in conflict with the interests of the oil extraction industry, industrial fishing fleets and tourism. This paper considers Lobitos, a fishing enclave in northern Peru, where the oldest oil settlement in Latin America was established. The primary focus is community organization and development of the fisheries. Using a mixed methods approach, intensive ethnographic observation and analysis of the social networks of the skippers of small-scale fishing vessels was conducted by in-depth interviews with 30 artisanal fishermen, together with a social network survey involving 43 boat captains in Lobitos. The results showed the mistrust and negative attitudes of fishermen towards oil companies and the industrial fishing fleet. However, they expressed positive expectations regarding tourism development, as well as favorable attitudes towards the diversification of fishing activity through tourist services. The networks of acquaintances, social support and exchange of ecological information allowed us to identify three different groups of fishermen according to preferential fishing zones. The skippers of vessels that prefer to fish in intermediate zones have a prominent role, both in terms of local leadership and through the connection with boats belonging to other bays near Lobitos. This subgroup acts as an intermediary in the networks a whole and has an integrated vision of the coastal ecosystem. Network measures and preferential fishing zones can be used as indicators to assess the degree of availability and preparation for the implementation of new uses in the fisheries sector associated with tourism and heritage.

9 A system dynamic analysis of Chinas oil supply chain: Over-capacity and energy security issues

Over-capacity problem in refining sector and energy security for oil supply are critical issues for China’s oil industry. As governmental intervention plays a significant part in current and future development of oil industry, over-capacity problem would not be solved without macro-regulatory. Though China is pro moting large-scale strategic reserve of crude oil, there is rare quantitative evaluation on the capability of the oil industry in dealing with import disruption. In this paper, a system dynamic model is established for oil supply chain analysis. Based on the model, a quantitative measurement is proposed to evaluate the over-capacity extent of refining industry. The over-capacity extent is classified into three levels, accord ing to varied demand fluctuation the supply chain is expected to deal with. By comparing the modeling results and historical data of 2012 and 2013, we conclude that over-capacity in China’s refining industry is in the severest level. The measurement reveals the driven-force of over-capacity from supply chain per spective, and demonstrates a quantitative method to figure out the proper capacity of energy supply industry. Second, the model simulates how oil supply chain responds to crude oil import disruption and the subsequent impacts. The modeling results indicate that the current configuration of China’s oil supply system is able to maintain sustainable supply under a less-than-180-day crude oil import disrup tion. The model provides a supply chain perspective in looking into energy security issues, and reveals the relationship between strategic petroleum reserve and the capability to cope with supply risks. In sum mary, the system dynamic model proposed in this paper is applicable for analysis on capacity planning and reserve strategy design of oil supply chain, providing valuable suggestion for the future development of China’s oil industry. The design concept and method of the model can be used for analysis of other energy industry.

زبان های الکترونیکی (e-tongues) دستگاه های تحلیلی نویدبخشی برای انواع کاربردهایی هستند که با چالش های کنترل کیفیت در پایش آب و صنایع غذایی، نوشیدنی ها و داروسازی سر و کار دارند. یک ایراد بسیار مهم در زبان های کنونی، نیاز به کالیبره کردن مجدد دستگاه برای وقتی است که دو یا چند واحد حسگر (معمولاً با سطح اصلاح شده) تعویض می شوند. سایر ایرادات آن، نیاز به انجام اصلاحات سطحی بعدی و تحلیل هایی برای هر یک از واحدهای حسگر است که موجب کاهش سادگی و سرعت روش می شود. این ویژگی ها مانع کاربرد تجاری گسترده ی زبان های الکترونیکی شده است. در این مقاله، ما یک e-tongue میکرو سیال را پیشنهاد می دهیم که بر تمامی این محدودیت ها غلبه نموده است. اصل اساسی انتخاب گسترده ی این زبان با ثبت تنها یک پاسخ واحد یعنی طیف ادمیتانسی معادل مجموعه ای از مقاومت های موازی، حاصل شد. چنین مقاومت هایی از پنج میکروسیم فولادی ضدزنگ غیرتقسیم کننده (واحدهای حسگر) تشکیل شده اند که اتصال کوتاه شده و با غشاهای طلا، پلاتینیوم، نیکل، آهن و اکسید آلومینیوم پوشانده شدند. میکروسیم ها در یک تراشه ی متشکل از یک قطعه ی واحد پلی دی متیل سیلوکسان (PDMS) جا داده شدند. e-tongue با استفاده از طیف نگاری امپدانسی با موفقیت برای طبقه بندی مزه های اصلی در غلظت کمتر از آستانه برای چشایی انسان مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. به علاوه، تراشه ی ما امکان متمایز نمودن مواد شیمیایی مختلف مورد استفاده در صنعت نفت را نیز دارد. نهایتاً، ساخت نمونه ی اولیه بدون اتاق تمیز امکان تولید انبوه تراشه ها با واحدهای حسگری را فراهم آورد که به سادگی تعویض شده و قابل ساخت مجدد هستند. از این رو، حالا دیگر شخص می تواند انتشار گسترده ی زبان های الکترونیکی با سرعت زیاد و داده های قابل بازتولید را تصور کند.
