Semantic Riverscapes: Perception and evaluation of linear landscapes from oblique imagery using computer vision
مناظر معنایی رودخانه: درک و ارزیابی مناظر خطی از تصاویر مایل با استفاده از بینایی کامپیوتری-2022 Traditional approaches for visual perception and evaluation of river landscapes adopt on-site surveys or as-
sessments through photographs. The former is expensive, hindering large-scale analyses, and it is conducted only
on street-level or top-down imagery. The latter only reflects the subjective perception and also entails a laborious
process. Addressing these challenges, this study proposes an alternative: a novel workflow for visual analysis of
urban river landscapes by combining unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) oblique photography with computer vision
(CV) and virtual reality (VR). The approach is demonstrated with an experiment on a section of the Grand Canal
in China where UAV oblique panoramic imagery has been processed using semantic segmentation for visual
evaluation with an index system we designed. Concurrent surveys, immersive and non-immersive VR, are used to
evaluate these photos, with a total of 111 participants expressing their perceptions across multiple dimensions.
Then, the relationship between the people’s subjective visual perception and the river landscape environment as
seen by computers has been established. The results suggest that using this approach, rivers and surrounding
landscapes can be analyzed automatically and efficiently, and the mean pixel accuracy (MPA) of the developed
model is 90%, which advances state of the art. The results of this study can benefit urban planners in formulating
riverside development policies, analyzing the perception of plans for a future scenario before an area is rede-
veloped, and the method can also aid relevant parties in having a macro understanding of the overall situation of
the river as a basis for follow-up research. Due to simplicity, accuracy and effectiveness, this workflow is
transferable and cost-effective for large-scale investigations of riverscapes and linear heritage. We openly release
Semantic Riverscapes—the dataset we collected and processed, bridging another gap in the field. keywords: ریورساید | باز کردن داده ها | GeoAI | بررسی های هوایی | هواپیماهای بدون سرنشین | واقعیت مجازی | Riverside | Open data | GeoAI | Aerial surveys | Drones | Virtual reality |

“Hey Alexa, what do you know about the COVID-19 vaccine?”— (Mis)perceptions of mass immunization and voice assistants
«هی الکسا، درباره واکسن کووید-19 چه میدانی؟» - برداشتهای نادرست از ایمنسازی انبوه و دستیاران صوتی-2022 In this paper, we analyzed the perceived accuracy of COVID-19 vaccine information spoken
back by Amazon Alexa. Unlike social media, Amazon Alexa does not apply soft moderation to
unverified content, allowing for use of third-party malicious skills to arbitrarily phrase COVID-
19 vaccine information. The results from a 210-participant study suggest that a third-party
malicious skill could successful reduce the perceived accuracy among the users of information as
to who gets the vaccine first, vaccine testing, and the side effects of the vaccine. We also found
that the vaccine-hesitant participants are drawn to pessimistically rephrased Alexa responses
focused on the downsides of the mass immunization. We discuss solutions for soft moderation
against misperception-inducing or other malicious third-party skills.

Not just an engineering problem: The role of knowledge and understanding of ecosystem services for adaptive management of coastal erosion
فقط یک مشکل مهندسی نیست: نقش دانش و درک خدمات اکوسیستم برای مدیریت انطباق فرسایش ساحلی-2021 Coastal ecosystems are recognized as important providers of ecosystem services such as carbon storage, increased
fish productivity, and wave energy reduction. In a context of climate change, coastal ecosystems are exposed to
erosion and subject to coastal squeeze, even as they provide natural coastal protection against extreme weather.
While civil engineering solutions often take centre stage in mitigating coastal erosion and protecting infra-
structure from storms and sea level rise, we seek to explore the social dimension of adaptive management of
socio-ecological systems and more specifically the role of knowledge and learning. Using an ecosystem services
(ES) framework, we provide a first evaluation of local stakeholders’ perceptions of coastal habitats in maritime
Quebec. The findings demonstrate the importance of a social approach for coastal ES valuation, in particular in
addressing the complex question of cultural ES. A better understanding of the links between coastal stakeholders
and their natural environment can help decision-makers and practitioners design conservation management and
coastal adaptation measures mainstreaming the role of coastal habitats. Nevertheless, a change towards a socio-
ecological perspective will require long-lasting processes that build on social capacities, such as flexible in-
stitutions and multilevel governance systems. keywords: حکومت انطباقی | ابعاد اجتماعی | فرسایش ساحلی | خدمات محیط زیستی | زیستگاه های ساحلی | ادراک ذینفعان | Adaptive governance | Social dimension | Coastal erosion | Ecosystem services | Coastal habitats | Stakeholders’ perception |

A study related to product service systems (PSS), SERVQUAL and knowledge management system (KMS) – A review
مطالعه مربوط به سیستم های خدمات محصول (PSS)، SERVQUAL و سیستم مدیریت دانش (KMS) - یک مرور-2021 PSS is a growing field of research in industry practice in today’s global economy. It is a new trend that has
an impact on both the production and consumption of resources. PSS aims at a more profitable and conservational usage of products. While in the past providing services was one of the strategies attained to
differentiate in competition, however today providing a product together with many services has become
a standard practice in the product industry. To remain competitive, manufacturers are forced not only to
produce a competitive product however rather a superior PSS.PSS are outlined as life cycle bound combinations of a product and completely different services, having sophisticated networks, that comprise a
manufacturer as a provider and also as a repair partner. To enable the applicability of a PSS in an industry,
it is essential to evaluate the system using metrics – the SERVQUAL MODEL, which defines ‘‘The quality as
the difference between the customers’ expectations & perceptions concerning the services delivered to
them” [1]. It is catered to measure quality by capturing the expectancy – confirmation paradigm which
suggests the consumer’s perceived quality of how well a given service delivery meets their expectations
of that delivery. So this SERVQUAL metric is used to determine the level of quality in the industry and the
five dimensions are such as tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance & empathy are measured
using a five-point Likert scale. Since, organizations are more and more moving towards knowledgebased strategies, developing and managing knowledge is essential for improving the organizational performance as well as for enhancing decision-making process. This paper presents a review on the use of a
knowledge management practice in PSS for industries to store, share and utilize knowledge for enhancing
creativity & innovation in their service systems. An efficient review of the literature has been conducted
in the academic and scientific databases taking into account the date of publication of the articles titled
PSS, SERVQUAL and KMS from 2009 to 2020. To achieve the review process, all selected articles have been
categorized by publication year, the objectives of the research, the methodology used, the results, conclusion and future scope of their research are presented on a broader scale [16]. Therefore, this paper presents an overview of the literature on PSS and the evaluation methods using SERVQUAL MODEL and the
role of knowledge management in PSS and the appropriate ideas for conducting research in the future.

On-farm experiences shape farmer knowledge, perceptions of pollinators, and management practices
تجارب در مزرعه دانش کشاورز، ادراکات گرده افشان ها و شیوه های مدیریتی را شکل می دهد-2021 Mitigating pollinator declines in agriculturally dominated landscapes to safeguard pollination
services requires the involvement of farmers and their willingness to adopt pollinator-friendly
management. However, farmer knowledge, perceptions, and actions to support on-farm pollinators and their alignment with science-based knowledge and recommendations are rarely
evaluated. To close this knowledge gap, we interviewed 560 farmers from 11 countries around
the world, cultivating at least one of four widely grown pollinator-dependent crops (apple, avocado, kiwifruit, oilseed rape). We particularly focused on non-bee crop pollinators which,
despite being important pollinators of many crops, received less research attention than bees. We
found that farmers perceived bees to be more important pollinators than other flower-visiting
insects. However, around 75% of the farmers acknowledged that non-bees contributed to the
pollination of their crops, seeing them as additional pollinators rather than substitutes for bees.
Despite farmers rating their own observations as being most important in how they perceived the contribution of different crop pollinator taxa, their perception aligned closely with results from
available scientific studies across crops and countries. Farmer perceptions were also linked with
their pollinator management practices, e.g. farmers who used managed bees for crop pollination
services (more than half the farmers) rated these managed bees as particularly important.
Interestingly, their willingness to establish wildflower strips or manage hedgerows to enhance
pollinator visitation was linked to their ecological knowledge of non-bees or to government
subsidies. Farmers adapted practices to enhance pollination services depending on the crop,
which indicates an understanding of differences in the pollination ecology of crops. Almost half of
the farmers had changed on-farm pollination management in the past 10 years and farm practices
differed greatly between countries. This suggests integrated crop pollination measures are being
adapted by farmers to reach best pollinator management practices. Our findings highlight the
importance of studying local knowledge as a key to co-design locally-adapted measures to
facilitate pollinator-integrated food production as ecological intensification tools.

The effect of perceived rewards on radical innovation: the mediating role of knowledge management in Indian manufacturing firms
تأثیر پاداش های درک شده بر نوآوری ریشه ای: نقش واسطه ای مدیریت دانش در شرکت های تولیدی هند-2021 This paper examines the mechanisms through which employees’ perception of rewards influences their radical
innovation. The paper develops and empirically tests a model proposing that perceived rewards influence radical
innovation via the mediating mechanisms of knowledge acquisition and knowledge sharing. Data from three
Indian manufacturing companies were collected using a questionnaire. Responses from 235 employees were
analysed (using structural equation modeling via AMOS27) to examine the links between perceived rewards,
knowledge sharing, knowledge acquisition, and radical innovation. The findings showed that: 1) perceived rewards
had positive and significant relationships with radical innovation, knowledge acquisition, and knowledge
sharing; 2) knowledge acquisition had a positive and significant relation with radical innovation, but knowledge
sharing was not significantly related to radical innovation; and 3) knowledge acquisition mediated the relationship
between perceived rewards and radical innovation. No support was found for the mediating role of
knowledge sharing in radical innovation. The paper examines the overlooked role of perceived rewards in
facilitating knowledge behaviours and radical innovation. In addition, the practices examined in the model are
assessed as perceived by employees, rather than as perceived or intended by managers.

Tourist gaze through computer vision: Differences between Asian, North American, and European tourists
نگاه توریستی از طریق دید رایانه ای: تفاوت بین گردشگران آسیایی ، آمریکای شمالی و اروپایی-2021 Photography has an intimate relationship with tourism (Urry, 1995). The personal photos are a record of the images that the tourist
has gazed on. As argued by Urry (1995), the essence of tourism is the visual consumption of places, and the fundamental motivation of
tourism is to gaze on those iconic symbols such as landscapes, people, buildings that have been visually represented and publicized in the
media (Garrod, 2009). Moreover, taking photographs is a major activity for the tourists and the photographs can serve as proof that the
tourist has been there (Jenkins, 2003). Tourists seek out particular views that were considered “photogenic” or “iconic,” and to reproduce
these in their photographs (Balomenou & Garrod, 2019). They love to post their photos on social media accompanied by texts as a way to
construct or re-construct their tourism experiences of the places and tourism activities (Lo & McKercher, 2015).
Prior studies of user-generated photographs mainly focus on the spatial-temporal patterns of tourist behavior (Önder, Koerbitz, & Hubmann-Haidvogel, 2016; Shoval, McKercher, Ng, et al., 2011; Vu, Li, Law, et al., 2015) and generate insights into tourists perceived images at the macro level, such as a city destination (Zoltan & McKercher, 2015). Few studies have explored the visual elements of tourists photos at a micro-level, such as a theme park. Cross-cultural studies of tourism have shown that tourists from different national cultural backgrounds differ in their perceptions of the benefits of a trip and travel behaviors (Pizam & Sussmann, 1995; Stepchenkova, Kim, & Kirilenko, 2015). Yet we have little knowledge about whether there are “gaze” differences of a theme park and its landscape between tourists from larger cultural categories such as Asian, North American, and European cultures (Zhang, Chen, & Li, 2019). Disproportionate redemption discounting: Mental accounting of discounted credit
تنزیل بازخرید نامتناسب: حسابداری ذهنی اعتبارِ تخفیف خورده-2021 Redeeming purchases using discounted credit (i.e., store credit bought at a lower price than its face value) is
widespread, but its mental accounting implications remain unclear. This work finds that consumers making
multiple redemptions on separate occasions with the same discounted credit do not perceive all redemptions as
equally discounted. Redemptions made earlier in that discounted credit’s spending life cycle (upstream re-
demptions) are perceived as less discounted than redemptions made later (downstream redemptions). This
“disproportionate redemption discounting” effect occurs because users feel more certain that they can deplete
their credit when they make downstream redemptions and feel like they have the freedom to mentally assign the
discounted credit savings unevenly among multiple redemptions. Relatedly, individuals have higher willingness
to pay when making downstream redemptions than upstream redemptions. Disproportionate redemption dis-
counting and its’ behavioral consequences are unique to discounted credit and do not generalize to all store
credit. keywords: اعتبار تخفیف یافته | حسابداری ذهنی | ادراکات هزینه | تبلیغات قیمت | Discounted credit | Mental accounting | Cost perceptions | Price promotions |

Impairment or amortization of goodwill? An analysis of CFO perceptions of goodwill accounting
کاهش یا استهلاک سرقفلی؟ تجزیه و تحلیل ادراک CFO از حسابداری سرقفلی-2021 Given the ongoing controversy around the accounting treatment of goodwill and the search by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) for
improvements to goodwill accounting, this study surveys a global sample of 352 chief financial officers
(CFOs) to understand their perceptions of adopting a goodwill impairment-only approach compared to
an amortization model. More than half of the respondents agree that alternative accounting treatments
of impairment testing might provide more useful information. However, almost two thirds still prefer
goodwill impairment testing to the amortization process. Theoretically, the study shows that the
impairment-only model preference is associated with characteristics on an individual, firm and country
level. The results indicate that more expert CFOs and overall CFO perceptions of firms’ economic conditions and the role of external auditors affect preference for the goodwill accounting model. Further,
there is evidence that dominant ownership structures and accounting culture affect CFO preferences. The
study investigates several areas in which regulators and standard setters can intervene, thereby
contributing to the debate on whether to reintroduce the amortization of goodwill.
