791 Climatic and psychosocial risks of heat illness incidents on construction site
خطرات آب و هوایی و روانی اجتماعی حوادث بیماری گرما در سایت ساخت و ساز-2016
The study presented in this paper aims to identify prominent risks leading to heat illness in summer among construction workers that can be prioritised for developing effective interventions. Samples are 216 construction workers' cases at the individual level and 26 construction projects cases at the orga- nisation level. A grounded theory is generated to define the climatic heat and psychosocial risks and the relationships between risks, timing and effectiveness of interventions. The theoretical framework is then used to guide content analysis of 36 individual onsite heat illness cases to identify prominent risks. The results suggest that heat stress risks on construction site are socially constructed and can be effectively managed through elimination at supply chain level, effective engineering control, proactive control of the risks through individual interventions and reactive control through mindful recognition and response to early symptoms. The role of management infrastructure as a base for effective interventions is discussed.© 2015 Elsevier Ltd and The Ergonomics Society. All rights reserved.

792 Risk, risk management practices, and the success of supply chain integration
خطر، شیوه های مدیریت ریسک، و موفقیت یکپارچه سازی زنجیره تامین-2016
Companies have reacted to the apparent opportunities and threats of globalization through various global production practices that have increased supply chain complexity and various forms of risk. Through increasing supply chain integration, companies have attempted to manage this increased level of complexity. Supply chain integration has been identified as a key practice to manage supply chains and achieve superior performance. The intent of this paper is to explore the role of risk and risk management practices in the success of supply chain integration in terms of their impact on cost and innovation performance. By applying the relational view and through cross-country survey and secondary country data we explore differences in supply chain integration efficacy based on the risk of conducting business (measured in terms of the strength of a country's rule of law) and the mitigating effect of supply chain risk management practices. One of the main conclusions suggests that supplier integration is also effective in weak rule of law (i.e., high risk) environments. Furthermore, companies can complement and strengthen the performance impact of their supplier integration practices through supply chain risk management practices in risky environments.& 2015 Elsevier B.V. 793 Supply chain sustainability: A risk management approach
پایداری زنجیره تامین: رویکرد مدیریت ریسک-2016
This paper develops an operational perspective of supply chain sustainability, by considering it as a risk management process. It explores the nature of sustainability-related supply chain risks, distinguishes them from typical supply chain risks and develops an analytical process for their management. An empirical study is conducted to generate insights about how sustainability-related risks should be managed in an integrated way. A mixed method approach is adopted for data collection and analysis. Through an extensive literature review and personal interviews, 30 risks across the three main pillars of sustainability (environmental, social and economic) are identified first. A large survey across different industrial sectors and two exploratory empirical case studies in two textile manufacturing companies are subsequently conducted to assess and analyse several dimensions of sustainability-related risk. The failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) technique is utilised to assess the relative importance of the selected risks, to identify their potential causes and effects and test potential correlations between the identified risks. Based on the findings of the study, risk treatment strategies are proposed for all the identified sustainability-related supply chain risks. The findings show that endogenous environmental risks are perceived to be the most important across different industries and the interconnectedness between several sustainability-related risks is very high. This points to the need for integrated sustainability risk management approaches to facilitate the development of effective sustainable strategies.& 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

794 Purchasing and supply_ An investigation of risk management performance
خرید و تامین: بررسی عملکرد مدیریت ریسک-2016
In a networked environment, the ability to develop and sustain relationships with suppliers is a critical success factor as well as a challenging task for the management of a company. It is recognized that companies become vulnerable to various supply chain disruptions and risks. The identification and management of these risks is therefore crucial for the effective management of the supply chains. In order to select the appropriate risk management actions, the relationship between these actions must be investigated. Even though much research has been conducted in the field of purchasing and supply management, only a small part of it has dealt with the risk management performance of supply chains. This study empirically investigates the supplier orientation, supplier dependency, customer orientation, and integrated systemic buying that influence a company’s supply risk management performance. A survey research design is adapted for the study. Our study shows the statistical (regression) linkages of the variables (supplier orientation, supplier dependency, customer orientation, and systemic purchasing) with supply risk management performance. The results of this study are based on the data collected from 165 large and medium-sized Finnish companies.& 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

796 Opportunities for enhanced lean construction management using Internet of Things standards
فرصت هایی برای مدیریت ساخت ناب افزایش یافته با استفاده از استانداردهای اینترنت اشیاء-2016
Traditionally, production control on construction sites has been challenging, and still remains challenging. The ad-hoc production control methods that are usually used, most of which are informal, foster uncertainty that pre- vents smooth production flow. Lean construction methods such as the Last Planner System have partially tackled this problem by involving site teams into the decision making process and having them report back to the pro- duction management system. However, such systems have relatively long “lookahead” planning cycles to re- spond to the dynamic production requirements of construction, where daily, if not hourly control is needed. New solutions have been proposed such as VisiLean, KanBIM, etc., but again these types of construction manage- ment systems require the proximity and availability of computer devices to workers. Through this paper, the au- thors investigate how the communication framework underlying such construction management systems can be further improved so as to fully or partially automate various communication functions across the construction project lifecycle (e.g., to enable lean and close to real-time reporting of production control information). To this end, the present paper provides evidences of how the Internet of Things (IoT) and related standards can con- tribute to such an improvement. The paper then provides first insights – through various construction scenarios – into how the proposed communication framework can be beneficial for various actors and core business perspec- tives, from lean construction management to the management of the entire building lifecycle.© 2015 Elsevier B.V. 797 Sustainability in multi-tier supply chains: Understanding the double agency role of the first-tier supplier
توسعه پایدار در زنجیره تامین چند لایه: درک نقش دو سازمانی از تامین کنندگان ردیف اول-2016
In light of the growing complexity of globally dispersed, multi-tier supply chains, the involvement of first-tier suppliers has become instrumental in the quest for achieving sustainability compliance along the supply chain. We describe this new responsibility as the double agency role. We employ agency and institutional theory arguments to explore the conditions under which first-tier suppliers will act as agents who fulfill the lead firms sustainability requirements (i.e., the primary agency role) and imple- ment these requirements in their suppliers operations (i.e., the secondary agency role). The findings from three in-depth case studies embedded in different institutional contexts highlight the importance for lead firms to incentivize each agency role separately and to reduce information asymmetries, particularly at the second-tier level. In addition, our inductive analysis reveals several contingency fac- tors that influence the coupling of the secondary agency role of the first-tier supplier. These factors include resource availability at the first-tier suppliers firm, the lead firms focus on the triple-bottom- line dimension (i.e., environmental or social), the lead firms use of power, and the lead firms internal alignment of the sustainability and purchasing function. We integrate our findings in a conceptual framework that advances the research agenda on multi-tier sustainable supply chains, and we subse- quently outline the practical implications of assigning the double agency role to first tier suppliers.© 2015 Elsevier B.V. 798 The role of cooperatives in food safety management of fresh produce chains: Case studies in four strawberry cooperatives
نقش تعاونی ها در مدیریت ایمنی مواد غذایی زنجیرهای محصولات تازه: مطالعات موردی در چهار تعاونی توت فرنگی-2016
Recent outbreaks with fresh produce have raised questions regarding management of quality and safety in the complex supply chains, where cooperatives play a central role. The overall objective of this article was to investigate the role of cooperatives in food quality and safety management in the fresh produce chain, focussing on the food safety management systems implemented on the farms. More specifically, we raise the question how a more market-like or a more hierarchy-like governance of transactions via cooperatives affect the quality and safety management system of the members. The research employed case studies in four cooperatives in Belgium and the Netherlands, each with different size and per cent of contractual sales. Data was collected with a diagnostic tool for assessment of food safety management systems (FSMS) on the farms, and semi-structured interviews with the quality assurance managers of the cooperative firms. Twenty-eight strawberry farms were assessed with the diagnostic tool, seven per each cooperative. Cooperatives play a double role in managing quality and safety in the food supply chain. They are responsible for the supply chain management, including tactical decisions about coordination of quality and safety requirements between customers, cooperative firms and their farmers. At the same time, they are selling the products of their members and make strategic decisions about the governance of transactions in the supply chain, which ultimately may have an impact on the supply chain man- agement and the FSMS on the farms. Farmers in cooperatives with more hierarchical relationships showed better operation of control activities (score 3), and advanced assurance activities at score 4 (advanced level), more science-based, adapted and tested for their effectiveness. This was associated with more effort put in supply chain management by the cooperative to support collaboration and co- ordination in the chain. However, the largest cooperative had moderate scores for several key control functions, suggesting that large cooperatives with complex business functions may suffer from lower commitment of members, leading to lower FSMS performance at farms.© 2015 Elsevier Ltd. 800 Don’t ask, don’t tell: Sharing revenues with a dishonest retailer
نپرس، نگو: به اشتراک گذاری درآمد با یک فروشنده متقلب-2016
When different supply chain parties have private information, some form of information sharing is required to improve supply chain performance. However, it might be difficult to ensure truthful information transfer when firms can benefit from distorting their private information. To investigate the impact of dishonest information transfer, we consider a single-supplier single-retailer supply chain that operates under a contract with a revenue sharing clause, providing the retailer incentive to underreport sales revenues. In practice, suppliers utilize audits based on statistical tools that, for example, compare the retailers’ sales reports and order quantities to limit, but not necessarily eliminate, cheating. We investigate the impact of such limited cheating on the different supply chain constituents. We show that when the retailer can exert sales effort, a supplier might benefit from the retailer’s dishonesty. Our findings also suggest that if the retailer’s negotiation power is high or if retailer effort is effective, the supplier should reduce the retailer’s revenue share and absorb some of the demand risk to increase retailer participation. When facing a less powerful or less capable retailer, the supplier might be better off extracting profitability upfront through a higher wholesale price.
