11 Accounting for seasonal effects on cyclist-vehicle crashes

Crash data is usually aggregated over time where temporal correlation contributes to the unobserved hetero- geneity. Since crashes that occur in temporal proximity share some unobserved characteristics, ignoring these temporal correlations in safety modeling may lead to biased estimates and a loss of model power. Seasonality has several effects on cyclists’ travel behavior (e.g., the distribution of holidays, school schedules, weather varia- tions) and consequently cyclist-vehicle crash risk. This study aims to account for the effect of seasonality on cyclist-vehicle crashes by employing two groups of models. The first group, seasonal cyclist-vehicle crash fre- quency, employs four vectors of the dependent variables for each season. The second group, rainfall involved cyclist-vehicle crash frequency, employs two vectors of the dependent variables for crashes that occurred on rainy days and non-rainy days. The two model groups were investigated using three modeling techniques: Full Bayes crash prediction model with spatial effects (base model), varying intercept and slope model, and First- Order Random Walk model with a spatial–temporal interaction term. Crash and volume data for 134 traffic analysis zones (TAZ’s) in the City of Vancouver were used. The results showed that the First-Order Random Walk model with spatial–temporal interaction outperformed the other developed models. Some covariates have different associations with crashes depending on the season and rainfall conditions. For example, the seasonal estimates for the bus stop density are significantly higher for the summer and spring seasons than for the winter and autumn seasons. Also, the intersection density estimate for a rainy day is significantly higher than a non- rainy day. This indicates that on a rainy day each intersection to the network adds more risk to cyclists compared to a non-rainy day.

12 Degree of sustainability of current account: evidence from Cote d ^ ’Ivoire using a non-linear approach

The current account deficit is a macroeconomic indicator that provides information on the health of an economy. Its sustainability is particularly crucial for developing countries such as Cote dIvoire, one of the largest economies ^ in West Africa. Given the countrys exposure to external vulnerability, this paper analysed the degree of sustainability of its current account. Beyond this, the study looked at the resilience of the economy to external shocks by examining how exports behave following an asymmetric shock on imports plus interest on external borrowing. To this end, the model developed by Shin et al. (2014) was applied to the intertemporal approach to current account sustainability using quarterly macroeconomic data from 1985q1 to 2017q4. The study found that Cote ^ dIvoires current account balance is sustainable. However, this sustainability is weak in the sense of Hakkio and Rush (1991), thus leading to a high risk of government failure in this respect. Also, the study shows that exports react differently to asymmetric shocks on increased imports, with a return to equilibrium often very slow. Therefore, the strengthening and stability of the socio-political environment is to be encouraged, as well as the implementation of policies aimed at sound public finance management and minimising the economys vulnerability to external shocks

13 Matching user accounts with spatio-temporal awareness across social networks

User identification aims at matching user accounts across social sites, which benefits many real-world applications. Existing works based on user trajectories usually address spatial and temporal data separately while not fully utilizing the coupling relation between them. Differently, in this work, we jointly consider spatialtemporal information in users’ acitvities to improve the user identification method. In particular, we observe that check-in records of different users tend to create inconsistent spatialtemporal information. These inconsistencies are useful for eliminating false user matching. Inspired by this observation, we propose a novel user identification method that captures the correlation of spatial and temporal information and the inconsistency in check-in records. It contains three main steps. 1) We measure the similarity of users’ trajectories based on a kernel density estimation, which considers spatial and temporal information simultaneously. 2) We assign a weight to each check-in record to favor discriminative ones. 3) We utilize the inconsistency among check-in records to compute penalties for trajectory similarity. The pair of accounts with higher similarity (than a predefined threshold) is then considered to be from the same user. We evaluate our approach on three ground-truth datasets. The results show that the proposed method offers competitive performance, with F1 values reaching 86.12%, 85.08% and 78.34%, which demonstrates the superiority of the proposed method over state-of-theart methods.

14 Review on pollution damage costs accounting
بررسی هزینه های آسیب آلودگی حسابداری-2021
Although the concept of damage cost accounting is already well-studied and applied, its application to pollution still lacks of an integrated accounting framework, while the spatial-temporal variability of accounting results has not been fully discussed. To fill this gap, this review frames the existing models and their limitations into static and dynamic categories, outlining the characteristics of different methods, which consider both human and non-human damages caused by pollution. Existing data sources, that could be used for accounting purposes, are detailed. Finally, this work discusses the relevance of spatial scales for the computation process, in order to obtain a more detailed information support for environmental policies for future compensatory actions. Conclusions highlights the need to develop a more comprehensive database of exposure-response relationships and to incorporate system alternatives into models to achieve a more accurate damage assessment.

15 Tourist gaze through computer vision: Differences between Asian, North American, and European tourists

Photography has an intimate relationship with tourism (Urry, 1995). The personal photos are a record of the images that the tourist has gazed on. As argued by Urry (1995), the essence of tourism is the visual consumption of places, and the fundamental motivation of tourism is to gaze on those iconic symbols such as landscapes, people, buildings that have been visually represented and publicized in the media (Garrod, 2009). Moreover, taking photographs is a major activity for the tourists and the photographs can serve as proof that the tourist has been there (Jenkins, 2003). Tourists seek out particular views that were considered “photogenic” or “iconic,” and to reproduce these in their photographs (Balomenou & Garrod, 2019). They love to post their photos on social media accompanied by texts as a way to construct or re-construct their tourism experiences of the places and tourism activities (Lo & McKercher, 2015).
Prior studies of user-generated photographs mainly focus on the spatial-temporal patterns of tourist behavior (Önder, Koerbitz, & Hubmann-Haidvogel, 2016; Shoval, McKercher, Ng, et al., 2011; Vu, Li, Law, et al., 2015) and generate insights into tourists perceived images at the macro level, such as a city destination (Zoltan & McKercher, 2015). Few studies have explored the visual elements of tourists photos at a micro-level, such as a theme park. Cross-cultural studies of tourism have shown that tourists from different national cultural backgrounds differ in their perceptions of the benefits of a trip and travel behaviors (Pizam & Sussmann, 1995; Stepchenkova, Kim, & Kirilenko, 2015). Yet we have little knowledge about whether there are “gaze” differences of a theme park and its landscape between tourists from larger cultural categories such as Asian, North American, and European cultures (Zhang, Chen, & Li, 2019).

16 Dynamic familiness capabilities and family business growth: A longitudinal perspective framed within management accounting

This paper examines how dynamic capabilities evolve in relation to familiness resources in order to facilitate family business growth and the way the context underpins dynamic capabilities in the family business. Drawing on an abductive research logic, it explores through a longitudinal in-depth case study and document analysis the way that dynamic capabilities and familiness resources have been deployed by a Greek-owned international shipping company over a twenty-five-year period. The findings highlight the influences exerted by the con- trolling family on the searching, seizing, and reconfiguring processes within management accounting to enable the reconfiguration of familiness resources in the firm across the dimensions of product strategy, governance, networking and staffing, and financing. These reconfigurations are essential in facilitating company development throughout critical growth junctures. We provide theoretical extensions to the resource-based view (RBV) through an integration of the concept of familiness and dynamic capability view, contextualized theorization, and temporal theorization.

17 Examining framing effect in travel package purchase: An application of double-entry mental accounting theory

Based on the double-entry mental accounting theory, we explore the effect of option framing on travelers purchase decisions regarding customized travel packages through three experiments. The results confirm that subtractive framing leads to higher purchase intentions and willingness to pay than additive framing. However, in the distant future, additive framing leads to higher purchase intention. Pleasure attenuation mediates the option framing effect on travel package purchase decisions, especially for travelers who make travel plans for the near future and those with higher price sensitivity. Pain buffering only plays a mediator role in student samples. The findings provide implications for travel agencies to adopt subtractive framing for customized travel packages and improve the hedonic experiences embedded in packages.

18 Vision-assisted recognition of stereotype behaviors for early diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders

Medical diagnosis supported by computer-assisted technologies is getting more popularity and acceptance among medical society. In this paper, we propose a non-intrusive vision-assisted method based on human action recognition to facilitate the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We collected a novel and comprehensive video dataset f the most distinctive Stereotype actions of this disorder with the assistance of professional clinicians. Several frameworks as a function of different input modalities were developed and used to produce extensive baseline results. Various local descriptors, which are commonly used within the Bag-of-Visual-Words approach, were tested with Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP), Gaussian Naive Bayes (GNB), and Support Vector Machines (SVM) classifiers for recognizing ASD associated behaviors. Additionally, we developed a framework that first receives articulated pose-based skeleton sequences as input and follows an LSTM network to learn the temporal evolution of the poses. Finally, obtained results were compared with two fine-tuned deep neural networks: ConvLSTM and 3DCNN. The results revealed that the Histogram of Optical Flow (HOF) descriptor achieves the best results when used with MLP classifier. The promising baseline results also confirmed that an action-recognition-based system can be potentially used to assist clinicians to provide a reliable, accurate, and timely diagnosis of ASD disorder.© 2021 Elsevier B.V. 19 Recent advances of single-object tracking methods: A brief survey

Single-object tracking is regarded as a challenging task in computer vision, especially in complex spatiotemporal contexts. The changes in the environment and object deformation make it difficult to track. In the last 10 years, the application of correlation filters and deep learning enhances the performance of trackers to a large extent. This paper summarizes single-object tracking algorithms based on correlation filters and deep learning. Firstly, we explain the definition of single-object tracking and analyze the components of general object tracking algorithms. Secondly, the single-object tracking algorithms proposed in the past decade are summarized according to different categories. Finally, this paper summarizes the achievements and problems of existing algorithms by analyzing experimental results and discusses the development trends.© 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

20 An integrated production-logistics-crop rotation planning model for sugar beet supply chains

This paper presents an integrated strategic-tactical planning model for the sugar beet supply chain problem. The model includes the critical agricultural and industrial decisions coupled with the transportation of crops by capacitated vehicles from farms to the processing facilities. In the agricultural stage, the proposed model is used to analyze both agronomic and operational constraints for achieving a sustainable farming system through feasible strategic crop rotation plans. These plans integrate crop sequences with temporal and spatial variations while considering the known seasonal demand. The agricultural decisions involve crops planting and harvesting decisions to fulfill both fresh produce crops and processing demands. In the industrial stage, the key decisions include aggregate production plans for processing the harvested beet, as well as managing the shipping and storage of these agro-materials in the production facility. In this paper, a binary integer programming model is formulated with the objective of minimizing the overall operational cost including transportation and inventory of processed and non-processed beets. A unique time dimension was added to the planning horizon to allow crop rotation planning between different cropping seasons. A realistic case is used to test the formulated model and elaborate its complexity.
