1 Semantic Riverscapes: Perception and evaluation of linear landscapes from oblique imagery using computer vision

Traditional approaches for visual perception and evaluation of river landscapes adopt on-site surveys or as- sessments through photographs. The former is expensive, hindering large-scale analyses, and it is conducted only on street-level or top-down imagery. The latter only reflects the subjective perception and also entails a laborious process. Addressing these challenges, this study proposes an alternative: a novel workflow for visual analysis of urban river landscapes by combining unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) oblique photography with computer vision (CV) and virtual reality (VR). The approach is demonstrated with an experiment on a section of the Grand Canal in China where UAV oblique panoramic imagery has been processed using semantic segmentation for visual evaluation with an index system we designed. Concurrent surveys, immersive and non-immersive VR, are used to evaluate these photos, with a total of 111 participants expressing their perceptions across multiple dimensions. Then, the relationship between the people’s subjective visual perception and the river landscape environment as seen by computers has been established. The results suggest that using this approach, rivers and surrounding landscapes can be analyzed automatically and efficiently, and the mean pixel accuracy (MPA) of the developed model is 90%, which advances state of the art. The results of this study can benefit urban planners in formulating riverside development policies, analyzing the perception of plans for a future scenario before an area is rede- veloped, and the method can also aid relevant parties in having a macro understanding of the overall situation of the river as a basis for follow-up research. Due to simplicity, accuracy and effectiveness, this workflow is transferable and cost-effective for large-scale investigations of riverscapes and linear heritage. We openly release Semantic Riverscapes—the dataset we collected and processed, bridging another gap in the field.

2 Implementation of a teleimmersion homecoming support system for supporting inpatients

This research has developed a teleimmersion homecoming support system for inpatients and their families by combining a head-mounted display, a 360-degree camera, and a remote control robot. This system realizes real-time remote communication between inpatients and their families and provides inpatients with a “homecoming” feeling. Furthermore, inpatients can experience a realistic home space by operating the remote control robot with a 360-degree camera installed at home and enjoying family conversations with the voice call function. To evaluate this system, we conducted a questionnaire survey on the operability, necessity, functionality, and presence of this system. More than 80% of the subjects answered positively in the evaluation of the necessity, functionality, and presence of this system. However, in the operability evaluation, 30% of the subjects answered negatively, so it is necessary to improve the operability in the future.

3 Knowledge-Based Management of Virtual Training Scenarios

Virtual reality (VR) gains increasing attention as a method of implementing training systems in different domains, in particular, when real training is potentially dangerous for the trainees or the environment, or requires expensive equipment. The essential element of professional training is domain-specific knowledge, which can be represented using the semantic web approach. It enables reasoning as well as complex queries against the representation of training scenarios, which can be valuable for teaching purposes. However, the available methods and tools for creating VR training systems do not use semantic knowledge representation. Currently, the creation, modification, and management of training scenarios require skills in programming and computer graphics. Hence, they are unavailable to domain experts without expertise in IT. In this paper, we propose an ontology-based representation and a method of modeling VR training scenarios. In our approach, trainees’ activities, potential mistakes as well as equipment and its possible errors are represented using domain knowledge understandable to domain experts. We illustrate the approach by modeling VR training scenarios for electrical operators of high-voltage installations.

4 Dynamic 3D image simulation of basketball movement based on embedded system and computer vision

Traditional empirical basketball teaching methods can be repeated, affecting serious basketball training efficiency and the acquisition of technical essentials. Based on this problem, the basketball training reproduction framework is built utilizing augmented reality innovation. The framework sets up a virtual reenactment model ofa ballplayer planning a player’s track. Simultaneously, as a helping player, it captures the basketball player’sactual situation, compares them with the simulated trajectories, and provides more targeted training. Based on virtual reality-based Virtual Data Augmentation Technology (VDRT), basketball technology’s teaching mode allows players to acquire key points of sports skills and significantly improve basketball players’ training efficiency as soon as possible. With the quick improvement of current science and innovation, for example, center, science and innovation, and electronic data innovation, more educational activities are being applied. However, modern educational methods’ important content is to master and use modern educational equipment and processes. This article uses basic concepts, characteristics, and virtual reality techniques and literature and information methods to explain the types of role play in basketball lessons. Finally, it analyzes the application programs of basketball theory education, technical education, tactical instruction and educational competitions that provide scientific standards for future basketball education reform.

5 Stereo disparity optimization with depth change constraint based on a continuous video

Three-dimensional reconstruction based on stereo vision technology is an important research direction in the field of computer vision, and has a wide range of applications in industrial measurement, medical image reconstruction, cultural relic preservation, robot navigation, virtual reality and other fields. However, the three- dimensional reconstruction of moving objects usually has poor accuracy, low efficiency and poor visualization effect due to the image noise, motion blur, complex and time-consuming calculation etc. In this article, a disparity optimization method based on depth change constraint is proposed, which utilizes the correlation of the adjacent frames in the continuous video sequence to eliminate mismatches and correct the wrong disparity values by introducing a depth change constraint threshold. The experiments on the video images which are taken by a binocular stereo vision system demonstrate that our method of removing incorrect matches bears satisfactory results and it can greatly improve the effect of the three-dimensional reconstruction of the moving objects.

واقعیت مجازی (VR) یک محیط مصنوعی است که از طریق محرک های حسی که یک رایانه ایجاد می‌کند، تجربه می شود. قابلیت VR برای شبیه سازی واقعیت دسترسی به درمان های روانی را تا حد زیادی افزایش می‌دهد. برای تحلیل تأثیر آموزش ذهنی مبتنی بر VA روی کودکان مبتلا به اختلال طیف اوتیسم (ASD) مدل آموزش مداخله زود هنگام و بازخورد هوشمند جزئی ایجاد شد. برای کمک به شدت علائم و اثربخشی درمان آموزش ذهنی مبتنی بر VA در کودکان مبتلا به ASD ، از لیست بررسی رفتار اوتیسم (ABC) ، مقیاس درجه‌بندی اوتیسم دوران کودکی (CARS) و مقیاس رفتار اوتیسم Clancy (کابین) استفاده شد. نتایج نشان داد که آموزش ذهنی مبتنی بر VA برای کودکان مبتلا به ASD بسیار جذاب بود؛ آموزش ذهنی مبتنی بر VA علائم معمول (اختلال ارتباط اجتماعی ، تاخیر گفتاری، کم توجهی و رفتار جدی) کودکان مبتلا به ASD را به طور چشمگیری بهبود بخشید و طی 4 هفته پس از درمان لیست بررسی رفتار اوتیسم (ABC)، مقیاس درجه‌بندی اوتیسم دوران کودکی (CARS) و مقیاس رفتار اوتیسم را بهبود بخشید (کابین ها). داده ها حاکی از آن است که آموزش ذهنی مبتنی بر VA ممکن است روش خوبی برای درمان کودکان مبتلا به ASD باشد.

Enablers, levers and benefits of Circular Economy in the Electrical and Electronic Equipment supply chain: a literature review-2021
Circular Economy in the Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) supply chain has a significant (and still unexploited) potential. This paper aims to systematically review the knowledge emerging from the literature at the intersection between Circular Economy and the EEE supply chain, with a special focus on enablers, levers, and their potential environmental, economic and social benefits. An original framework is developed to categorise Circular Economy enablers, levers and potential benefits. Companies in the EEE industry aiming to implement Circular Economy can exploit several enablers (grouped into digitalization, government intervention, and users’ active role) and levers (grouped into circular product design, ser- vitised business models, and supply chain management) to generate economic, environmental and social benefits. Based on the framework, 115 articles were scrutinised. The analysis led to the definition of a research agenda, with policy and industry implications. To advance Circular Economy research in the EEE supply chain, future studies should address: (i) the enabling role of digitalization, particularly within blockchain, 3D Printing, augmented and virtual reality; (ii) design strategies focused on ‘reduce’; (iii) servitised business models based on result-oriented offerings; (iv) collaboration in the EEE supply chain;(v) the assessment of social and economic benefits to users. Future research should also investigate the systemic interrelations between enablers, levers and benefits.© 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

9 Extending Fitts’ law in three-dimensional virtual environments with current low-cost virtual reality technology

Virtual reality (VR) interfaces require users to perform three-dimensional reaching and pointing movements to interact with objects positioned within the users arms reach. However, there has been limited work that has evaluated the applicability of established models of human motor control to model performance of these tasks in 3D virtual reality environments using current low-cost technologies. In this study, a 3D discrete pointing task using the Oculus Rift system was used to explore potential influences on movement in VR and to account for these influences in a new formulation of Fitts’ law. Target size and distance from the starting point of movement were systematically varied to generate a broad range of index of difficulty (ID) values. Target locations were specified using a spherical coordinate system in which inclination angle corresponded to the pitch of the movement axis with respect to the starting point of movements and azimuth angle corresponded to the roll of the movement axis with respect to the horizontal plane. In line with previous work, we observed that target size, radial distance, and inclination angle had a significant effect on movement time. The effect of inclination angle varied with target size, which suggests that target size affected depth estimation. Significant target characteristics and interaction effects were used to develop an extended Fitts’ law model, which accounted for 64.5% of the variation in movement times. Comparisons to other Fitts’ law models revealed that models accounting for the effects of target depth improved predictive power relative to the traditional Fitts’ law formulation. Together, these findings support the value of extending Fitts’ law models to account for domain-specific constraints in VR environments. We discuss these results in the context of previous work examining HMD display deficiencies and discrete 3D pointing tasks, and suggest several directions for future work.

Though tourism is a late runner in this race, but this sector has also witnessed a huge change with the magical touch of AI. This sector being one of the highly emerging sectors, contributing very high GDP , has adapted several machine learning techniques or data analytics, which has made tourism model smarter and dynamic. In India , tourism has an ample scope to grow and Indian tourism sectors are also adapting several popular AI techniques like deep learning, Artificial neural network, predictive analytics, robotics or new technologies like virtual reality or augmented reality. This technological adaptation has made their services much better, heled in dynamic pricing, or for smart customer experience management. This paper has conducted a study on Indian tourism sectors providing online services and discusses about the current AI technologies used by them while exploring the pros and cons faced by them . The paper is alienated in three different segments- section 1 contains introduction part, section 2 discusses about related works in similar area, third section deliberates about different AI techniques adapted by Indian tourism sectors along with their pro and cons.
