1 Knowledge in pre-hospital emergency and risk management among outdoor adventure practitioners in East Africa afro-alpine mountains

Introduction: The enjoyment of nature and other benefits of outdoor activities happen amid inherent hazards. This calls for knowledge and competency in emergency and risk management. Practitioners in outdoor activities, such as mountaineering, thus need to be knowledgeable on how to manage risks and attend to emergencies in their practice. The study sought to establish the preparedness of East African mountaineering practitioners in pre- hospital emergency and risk management. It sought to establish their knowledge on prehospital emergency and risk management, based on their age, gender, level of education and refresher training. Methods: The study purposively sampled one hundred and thirty six (N = 136) outdoor adventure practitioners from the Afro-alpine mountain areas in East Africa. It was hypothesized that there would be no significant relationship between the outdoor practitioners’ knowledge in prehospital emergency risk management and their age, gender, level of education, refresher training. Somers’ d was used to test the hypotheses. Results: It was established that the knowledge scores of prehospital emergency and risk management for the mountaineering practitioners was low. It was also established that the knowledge scores of outdoor practitioners were not dependent on their age, gender, and work experience. However, there was a significant relationship between the outdoor adventure practitioners’ knowledge scores and their highest level of education as well as refresher training. Conclusions: The study concluded that there were gaps in the knowledge of prehospital risk management of the East African Afro-alpine mountaineering practitioners. It recommends frequent and regular training and re- certification among outdoor adventure practitioners in order to raise the knowledge in prehospital emergency risk management. 2 Knowledge management and natural disaster preparedness: A systematic literature review and a case study of East Lombok, Indonesia

Disaster impacts can be significantly reduced with disaster preparedness. Knowledge management is one of the building blocks of disaster preparedness. This paper comprehends the current state of the literature on knowl- edge management in community preparedness towards natural disasters. The paper identifies and develops a categorization of community-related knowledge management in disaster preparedness using a systematic liter- ature review. Subsequently, the categorization is utilized in a case study to determine if community-related knowledge management in the preparedness phase can improve communities’ responses in the event of natu- ral disasters. The case study was conducted in the Lombok Island community of Indonesia, which experienced two major earthquakes in mid-2018 and early 2019. The results show that knowledge transfer and creation towards and among the Lombok community increased after the mid-2018 earthquake. Consequently, the com- munity was better able to respond to the early-2019 earthquake. Better disaster preparedness activity designs are crucial in attracting participation and motivating residents to be more prepared.

3 An integrated artificial intelligence framework for knowledge creation and B2B marketing rational decision making for improving firm performance

This study examines the effect of big data powered artificial intelligence on customer knowledge creation, user knowledge creation and external market knowledge creation to better understand its impact on B2B marketing rational decision making to influence firm performance. The theoretical model is grounded in Knowledge Management Theory (KMT) and the primary data was collected from B2B companies functioning in the South African mining industry. Findings point out that big data powered artificial intelligence and the path customer knowledge creation is significant. Secondly, big data powered artificial intelligence and the path user knowledge creation is significant. Thirdly, big data powered artificial intelligence and the path external market knowledge creation is significant. It was observed that customer knowledge creation, user knowledge creation and external market knowledge creation have significant effect on the B2B marketing-rational decision making. Finally, the path B2B marketing rational decision making has a significant effect on firm performance.

4 Criteria for effective regional scale catchment to reef management: A case study of Australias Great Barrier Reef
معیارهای حمل و نقل موثر منطقه ای به مدیریت ریف: مطالعه موردی صخره های بزرگ مانع استرالیا-2021
Many coastal and marine ecosystems around the world are under increasing threat from a range of anthropogenic influences. The management of these threats continues to present ongoing challenges, with many ecosystems increasingly requiring active restoration to support or re-establish the ecosystems biological, cultural, social and economic values. The current condition of Australias Great Barrier Reef (GBR) and its threats, including water quality, climate change and the loss of wetlands, causing the continuing decline in the GBRs ecological condition and function, has received global attention. Activities aimed at halting these declines and system restoration have been underway for over forty years. These activities are challenging to implement, and much has been learnt from their various outcomes. This paper considers the GBR and the associated management activities as a case study for regional scale catchment to reef management. It summarises the management approaches to date, describing the key role that science, policy and community have played in underpinning various investments. Four criteria for success are proposed: the lead role of the community, the need for a systems approach, the need for targeted, cost-effective and sustainable long-term investment, and importantly, building knowledge and maintaining consensus and political commitment.

5 Never the twain shall meet? Knowledge strategies for digitalization in healthcare

This paper explores the formation of knowledge strategies in digitalization of healthcare organizations. Adopting a case study design, we investigate how divergent professional groups including the management team, healthcare professionals and IT engineers in a Chinese hospital come together to develop coherent knowledge strategies during its digital transformation. The findings reveal four phases by which the interplays between the professional groups shaped the knowledge strategies. We systematically analyze the drivers, formation processes and outcomes of the knowledge strategies. Based on the findings, we propose four lessons that may help pro- fessional organizations at different stages of digitalization structure knowledge strategies that can stimulate knowledge creation, application, and synthesis. The study advances the understanding of knowledge strategy by emphasizing the interactions between diversified professional groups and the integration of different types of knowledge in achieving organizational goals. It also sheds light on the complexity and dynamics of knowledge strategy in the digitalization process of knowledge-intensive organizations.

6 Application of multivariate statistics and 3D visualization analysis in tacit knowledge diffusion map

Tacit knowledge is an important factor for enterprises and institutions to enhance their knowledge innovation and value-added capabilities, and it is also a basic link to enhance organizational learning capabilities. With the development of technology, the dissemination of tacit knowledge has increasingly shown complex and dynamic trends. In order to make the tacit knowledge in the enterprise better circulate and generate greater economic value, therefore, this paper proposes a study on the diffusion map of tacit knowledge based on multivariate statistics and 3D visualization analysis. First of all, this paper analyzes the internal relationship between orga- nizational learning and organizational tacit knowledge integration and organizational tacit knowledge innova- tion, and combines multiple statistical methods to propose an organizational tacit knowledge integration method based on tacit knowledge management. Secondly, we combine 3D visualization and generative confrontation network methods to analyze the data of tacit knowledge dissemination, and visualize the distribution of knowledge dissemination in three dimensions. In the simulation experiment test, this paper reveals that the spreading efficiency of tacit knowledge in the network is affected by related factors. Through this model, we hope to explore the behavioral laws of different types of nodes in the network and propose effective countermeasures to improve the efficiency of knowledge dissemination.

7 The role of digital innovation in knowledge management systems: A systematic literature review

This article investigates the literary corpus on digital innovation in knowledge management systems (KMS) to understand its role in business governance. The study introduces a broad survey of the scientific literature on this topic to understand how digital innovation promotes new business models through the optimization of new knowledge. We carried out a bibliometric analysis on a database, including 46 articles published in the last three decades (1990–2020). All the articles were written in English. The results show that research published on the topic reveals interesting implications for business models and business performance. These findings especially highlight the links between innovation and sustainability, revealing that digital transformation tools contribute over the long-term to the value creation process. This research contributes to the existing literature analyzing the KMS topic by considering it from the digital inno- vation processes perspective, pointing out the need to implement new knowledge creation and to share measures which support global and inclusive growth.

8 The role of nature of knowledge and knowledge creating processes in knowledge hiding: Reframing knowledge hiding

Knowledge hiding research has traditionally focused on the ways in which knowledge is hidden in the context of interactions between employees. This study advances knowledge hiding research by highlighting the benefits of moving away from the dyadic level of analysis to a multilevel analysis across individuals, groups, and organi- zations. We also elaborate how knowledge hiding is influenced both by the nature of knowledge and by the modes of knowledge creation in organizations. We propose a theoretical framework that juxtaposes the nature of knowledge – tacit vs. explicit and component vs. architectural – against the four modes – socialization, exter- nalization, combination, and internalization – of the knowledge creating process in organizations. The frame- work developed in our study also enables us to identify four distinct root causes of knowledge hiding in organizations – functional bias, misaligned incentives, dysfunctional resource allocations, and value incongruence.

9 Towards better understanding and narrowing of the science-practice gap: A practitioner-centered approach to management knowledge creation

The lack of mutual communication and collaboration between academic research and management practice, and the limited implementation of the research findings in strategic and tactical decision-making in practice settings, known as the science-practice ‘gap’, remains an essential issue in management research. We challenge the pri- mary focus on academics for the possibilities of bridging the gap by arguing that the picture remains incomplete without a closer look at the positions, perceptions, and attitudes of practicing managers toward the joint pro- duction of relevant management knowledge. Based on the inductive, grounded theory approach, we conducted a qualitative study of 47 practicing managers with different organizational and functional responsibilities across various industry sectors. Although practitioners perceived practice-engaged research design and execution, relevant management research, and benefits from complementary knowledge as enablers of fruitful science- practice collaboration, our emerging findings revealed limited trust, limited cognition, coping strategies, and heuristic information processing to be important barriers for practitioners that hamper the collaboration process. Relying on the cognitive and information processing framework and theory of the conservation of resources, we aimed to explain the antecedent of (un)successful collaboration on the practitioners’ side, thus extending our understanding of the scholarship of integration.

10 Big data management capabilities in the hospitality sector: Service innovation and customer generated online quality ratings

Despite the wide usage of big data in tourism and the hospitality sector, little research has been done to un- derstand the role of organizations’ capability of managing big data in value creation. This study bridges this gap by investigating how big data management capabilities lead to service innovation and high online quality rat- ings. Instead of treating big data management as a whole, we access big data management capabilities at the strategic and operational level. Using a sample of 202 hotels in Pakistan, we collected the primary data for big data capabilities, knowledge creation and service innovation; the secondary data about quality rating were collected from Booking.com. Structural equation modelling through SmartPLS was used for data analysis. The results indicated that big data management capabilities lead to high online quality ratings through the mediation of knowledge creation and service innovation. We contribute to the current literature by empirically testing how strategic level big data capabilities enable the firm to add value in innovativeness and positive online quality ratings through acquiring, contextualizing, experimenting and applying big data.
