PTSD, burnout and well-being among rescue workers: Seeking to understand the impact of the European refugee crisis on rescuers
PTSD، فرسودگی شغلی و رفاه کارکنان نجات: برای درک تاثیر بحران پناهندگان اروپا برای امدادگران-2018 Individuals who perform rescue and recovery duties, as part of their daily work activities, confront diverse
stressors that can affect their mental state and overall well-being. The study aimed to assess the prevalence and
the factors associated with self-assessed PTSD, perceived well-being and burnout among rescue workers oper
ating at Lesvos during the European refugees crisis. 217 rescuers participated in the study, while the PTSD
Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL-C), the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Well-being Index (WHO-5)
were utilized. The prevalence of self-assessed PTSD and perceived burnout syndrome was 17.1% and 57% re
spectively, while 72.8% of the rescuers reported low levels of perceived well-being. Self-assessed PTSD was
positively correlated with perceived burnout and inversely correlated with perceived well-being. Perceived
burnout was also inversely correlated with perceived well-being. A number of significant predictors were
identified for self-assessed PTSD, perceived burnout and well-being, including: family status, age, duration of
shifts, collection of dead adults or dead children bodies. The impact of the refugee crisis is visible on the rescue
workers that offer rescue and first aid services. There is an urgent need for implementing effective interventions
focusing on the identified determinants in order to enhance the occupational psychological burden of rescuers.

Sentiment analysis on Twitter: A text mining approach to the Syrian refugee crisis
تجزیه و تحلیل احساسات در توییتر: رویکرد معانی متن به بحران پناهندگان سوری-2018 The use of social media has become an integral part of daily routine in modern society. Social
media portals offer powerful public platforms where people can freely share their opinions and
feelings about various topics with large crowds. In the current study, we investigated the public
opinions and sentiments towards the Syrian refugee crisis, which has affected millions of people
and has become a widely discussed, polarizing topic in social media around the world. To analyze
public sentiments about the topic on Twitter, we collected a total of 2381,297 relevant tweets in
two languages including Turkish and English. Turkish sentiments were considered important as
Turkey has welcomed the largest number of Syrian refugees and Turkish tweets carried in
formation to reflect public perception of a refugee hosting country first handedly. We performed
a comparative sentiment analysis of retrieved tweets. The results indicated that the sentiments in
Turkish tweets were significantly different from the sentiments in English tweets. We found that
Turkish tweets carried slightly more positive sentiments towards Syrians and refugees than
neutral and negative sentiments, nevertheless the sentiments of tweets were almost evenly dis
tributed among the three major categories. On the other hand, the largest number of English
tweets by a significant margin contained neutral sentiments, which was followed by the negative
sentiments. In comparison to the ratio of positive sentiments in Turkish tweets, 35% of all
Turkish tweets, the proportion of English tweets contained remarkably less positive sentiments
towards Syrians and refugees, only 12% of all English tweets.

Tourism and the refugee crisis in Greece: Perceptions and decision-making of accommodation providers
گردشگری و بحران پناهندگان در یونان: ادراک و تصمیم گیری ارائه دهندگان مسکن-2017 This paper focuses on the tourism impacts of the 2015e16 refugee crisis in Greece. It examines the
implications of the related publicity for the perception of Greece and the expected reaction of inbound
tourists; the way refugees are regarded from a security and cultural aspect; the interaction between
refugees and host communities; and the decisions made by the Greek tourism accommodation sector to
face the crisis. Using fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis the paper employs a nationwide survey
of 811 tourism accommodation managers. The results reveal three configurations explaining the de
cisions of respondents characterised by refugee-centric orientation; the emphasis on the visitors-locals
nexus; and the host communities behavioural impact on tourism. The paper also compares asymmetric
with symmetric analysis highlighting the suitability of the former when dealing with complexity. The
modelling exercise also steps forward from fit to predictive validity. The findings contribute to both
managerial and methodological aspects of tourism.

The interplay between urban policies and grassroots city brand co-creation and co-destruction during the refugee crisis: Insights from the city brand Munich (Germany)

create and eventually co-destruct a city brand. This research paper analyzes the interplay between urban policies
and grassroots city brand development during the refugee crisis that had its peak in autumn 2015 in Germany.
We chose the city of Munich (Germany) as the case, because the city has managed to communicate itself as an
open and tolerant place. However currently, this city has increasingly been jeopardized by the refugee crisis and
thus constitutes an extreme case illustrating city brand co-creation and potential co-destruction dynamics. Based
on our qualitative research, we derive three propositions about city brand co-creation and co-destruction which
aim to stimulate future research. In doing so, this research is a highly relevant example for cities in crisis, where
collective action is supporting as well as challenging the co-created meaning of a place (brand).
