1 Predicting stock returns from the pricing and mispricing of accounting fundamentals
This paper examines Nichols et al.’s (2017) fundamentals-based valuation model that links share prices to accounting fundamentals in European equity markets. The model explains, on average, 69 % of the cross-sectional share price variation among European firms. Deviations of share prices from the model’s fundamental value estimates hold unique information about subsequent stock returns that goes beyond established determinants of the cross-section. Firms identified as undervalued outperform firms perceived as overvalued by more than 0.54 % per month after controlling for firm size, book-to-market, operating profitability, investment, and momentum. Hence, the market seems to incorporate fundamental information only gradually.

2 Time, space and accounting at Nonantola Abbey (1350-1449)
Accounting historians have provided several accounts of monastic life and accountings role in it, considering important settings such as Montecassino and San Pietro abbeys in Italy and Durham Cathedral Priory in England. Research has shown how their governance arrangements and common values enabled the Benedictines to manage their monasteries in an efficient manner which was essential in tackling the misappropriation of resources by organisational actors, including abbots. Other studies have shed light on the use of practical and effective accounting practices by the Benedictines to manage their considerable wealth and pursue their spiritual and temporal goals. Nevertheless, this body of literature is yet to explicitly consider the dimensions of time and space and their relationship with accounting practices. This study begins to address this oversight by analysing the surviving accounting records of the Benedictine abbey of Nonantola in northern Italy from 1350 to 1449. In the accounting books of Nonantola Abbey linear and cyclical conceptions of time coexisted and had an impact on the way in which transactions were reflected in the accounts. At the same time, the abbey was at the centre of a complex network of accountabilities which included lay accountants, farmers and the lessees of the abbeys properties. The main characteristic of this system was not the accuracy of the records in detailing the assets, liabilities, expenses and revenue of the abbey but the maintenance of a control system to administer an extensive agricultural network and the identification of the relationships between the abbey and the stakeholders inhabiting its space.

3 The use of fishers’ knowledge to assess benthic resource abundance across management regimes in Chilean artisanal fisheries
Globally, marine fisheries remain largely unassessed, particularly small-scale fisheries in developing countries. Fishers’ knowledge has proven to be valuable to help fill gaps of information in otherwise unassessed fisheries. This study tested the reliability of fishers’ knowledge to estimate the abundance of two benthic resources, locos (Concholepas concholepas) and keyhole limpets (Fissurella spp.), across two management regimes, territorial user rights for fisheries (TURF) and open access areas (OAA), over ~500 km of coastline in central Chile. Fishers’ knowledge (FK) was quantified using systematic interviews and compared to direct assessments (DA). Addi- tionally, resource abundance was compared between the fishing regimes, considering regions with different concentration of TURFs (and consequently different availability of OAAs). The results show that abundances estimated by the two methods were highly consistent for the most valuable resource (the loco) and quite reliable for the keyhole limpet (for 67% of the comparisons). Abundances of both resources were higher in TURFs than in OAAs, a pattern detected by both FK and DA. The results clearly show the potential of this approach to be applied for the Chilean benthic fisheries over large scales. Interestingly, the results also show significantly lower abundance of locos in OAAs than in TURFs at coves immersed in zones with low availability of open access fishing grounds, suggesting the influence of effort displacement after the implementation of TURFs. This ancillary result highlights the need for seascape management plans that consider the potential, unintended ef- fects of TURFs on resources beyond their boundaries. These findings are of both local and global interest, sup- porting the use of FK to inform management in unassessed small-scale fisheries.

4 Past, present, and future of knowledge management for business sustainability
Knowledge management has gained increasing importance and immense research interest for its promise in advancing sustainability. Despite its proliferation in the literature, little is known about the research profile of knowledge management research intertwined with sustainability. Given this gap, this article aims to conduct an extensive review of knowledge management for sustainability research. Using bibliometrics, which is suitable for large-scale reviews, this article reviews 1136 documents published in peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Web of Science between 2001 and 2021. Noteworthily, the review sheds light on the performance of research con- stituents (e.g., most prolific authors, countries, institutions, and journals), as well as the themes and topics underpinning the intellectual structure (i.e., knowledge foundation, knowledge creation) in the field. Specif- ically, the review reveals that knowledge management for sustainability research has relied on nine foundational clusters (i.e., informed sustainability practice, social network, firm performance, knowledge sharing culture, green innovation, sustainability assessment framework, global warming, knowledge management, and innova- tive performance) to generate new knowledge across 10 thematic clusters, (i.e., ecological knowledge, green innovation, the Shanghai Hongqiao district effect, the Agroscope Research Master Plan, food security, sustainable supply chain management, business sustainability, knowledge creation, knowledge management, and technology management). The article concludes with a new theory that encapsulates extant understanding of knowledge management for sustainability along with promising avenues for future research.

5 How Entrepreneurs make sense of Lean Startup Approaches: Business Models as cognitive lenses to generate fast and frugal Heuristics
The role of the business model (BM) as heuristics to support entrepreneurial and strategic problem solving at a cognitive level has been hinted at by extant literature, but left largely unexplored as of yet. This study is po- sitioned in the emerging research on the cognitive individual microfoundations of Entrepreneurship and Strategy, and contributes to the discussion of how business models are used as heuristics, in the novel and relevant setting of Digital Entrepreneurship. We conducted a multiple case study on three digital startups that applied the emerging Lean Startup Approaches (LSAs) and embody technological development in their value proposition. We found that digital entrepreneurs applying LSAs as a systematic process to validate their business ideas rely on business models as cognitive lenses to make sense of LSAs and translate abstract guidelines into fast and frugal heuristics, in order to ‘make do’ with cognitive resource scarcity. These BM-generated heuristics in turn help entrepreneurs in the activities of: (i) making sense of entrepreneurial opportunities; (ii) formulating falsifiable hypotheses concerning their startups’ viability; (iii) filtering, selecting and organizing fuzzy and in- complete external and internal information; (iv) designing multidimensional customer experiments and tests revolving around the notion of value, through Minimum Viable Business Models (MVBMs); (v) prioritizing these experiments and tests to validate their early BM through analogical arguments; and (vi) processing the learning they obtain from experiments, and concretizing it in the form of BM pivots. We also provide empirically-driven insight on an integrative set of cognitive processes – namely (1) cognitive imprinting, (2) common language transfer; (3) attention intensity and (4) scientific and experimental cognition – that mold and blend together the BM-generated heuristics and explain how they are learnt, transferred, enacted, and how they persistently enablea cognitive transition to the application of a scientific method to Entrepreneurship based on more sophisticated experiments and metrics.«Non sunt multiplicanda entia sine necessitate» (Entities are not to be multiplied without necessity)William of Ockham (c. 1287–1347)

6 A grounded theory examination of project managers accountability
26 interviews were conducted with a snowball sample of project managers to explore how project managers were influenced by accountability arrangements and how they responded to accountability demands. Using a grounded theory approach to code the interview data, this study revealed that project managers develop new skills to respond to accountability demands. These effects are facilitated by the interaction of resource-based mechanisms and reflexivity that interact with the contextual factors of the project. The study broadens the understanding of accountability in project management and suggests a model for further empirical examination.

8 Discipline, abjection, and poverty alleviation through entrepreneurship: A constitutive perspective
Collective entrepreneurship has been found to alleviate extreme poverty by helping poor individuals integrate into their societies and overcome their multiple intertwined liabilities. We complement this line of inquiry by exploring the conditions under which group structures may instead reinforce economic and gendered poverty constraints. We conducted grounded-theoretical interviews with 104 women entrepreneurs operating in farming cooperatives and non-farm groups in war-torn South-West Cameroon. Analysing our data through a constitutive lens, we found that discipline, the extent to which rules determine and control individual behaviours, helps poor women overcome extreme economic constraints but prevents them from attaining prosperity and emancipation.

9 A self-assembled layer-by-layer surface modification to fabricate the neuron-rich model from neural stem/precursor cells
Background/Purpose: In vitro neural cell-based models have been widely used to mimic the in vivo neural tissue environments and quantitatively understand the effects of pharmaceutical molecules on neural diseases. Recently, several biomimetic neural tissue models have been widely developed by using biomaterials or surface modification. However, the complex protocols of material synthesis or surface modification lack an easy execution to fabricate the neuron favorite environment. Methods: In this study, we utilized a layer-by-layer technique as a surface modification method for regulating the behaviors of neural stem/precursor cells (NSPCs) on material surfaces. Polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs) via alternate deposition of poly (allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) and poly (sodium-4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) were used to culture NSPCs. After incubation for 7 days, the neuronal differentiation of NSPCs and synapse function of differentiated neurons were identified by immunocytochemistry for lineage specific markers. Results: Compared with the only PAH film, the PSS-ending film (neuron-rich model) was shown to significantly promote differentiation of NSPCs into neurons (more than 50%), form a neuronal network structure; and differentiated neurons exhibiting functional synaptic activity.

10 Comparisons of dual isogenic human iPSC pairs identify functional alterations directly caused by an epilepsy associated SCN1A mutation
Over 1250 mutations in SCN1A, the Nav1.1 voltage-gated sodium channel gene, are associated with seizure disorders including GEFS+. To evaluate how a specific mutation, independent of genetic background, causes seizure activity we generated two pairs of isogenic human iPSC lines by CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing. One pair is a control line from an unaffected sibling, and the mutated control carrying the GEFS+ K1270T SCN1A mutation. The second pair is a GEFS+ patient line with the K1270T mutation, and the corrected patient line. By comparing the electrophysiological properties in inhibitory and excitatory iPSC-derived neurons from these pairs, we found the K1270T mutation causes cell type-specific alterations in sodium current density and evoked firing, resulting in hyperactive neural networks. We also identified differences associated with genetic background and interaction between the mutation and genetic background. Comparisons within and between dual pairs of isogenic iPSC-derived neuronal cultures provide a novel platform for evaluating cellular mechanisms underlying a disease phenotype and for developing patient-specific anti-seizure therapies.
