1 An expert fuzzy system for management of railroad bridges in use

Management of railroad bridges constitutes a typical decision-making problem which arises from the necessity to allocate limited financial resources to maintenance and repair work. It is a multiple criteria issue consisting in the arrangement of bridges with regards to the level of structure degradation which is decisive for the safety level of their users. So far, despite a large number of suggested calculation models, mainly of probabilistic character, no method has been noticed that would allow to rank any number of bridges taking into consideration a full variety of structure and material solutions. Therefore, in order to meet the need for a more effective model, an innovative approach has been proposed using the aggregated calculation algorithm which combines the modified Extent Analysis Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (EA FAHP) method and the Dominant Analytic Hierarchy Process (DAHP) one. It is a decision-making and calculation model which allows to reflect the actual assessment processes in a more favourable manner, as well as to take into account the diversity of solutions with respect to materials and structure of bridges. An example was given of the application of the suggested method on the selected group of railroad bridges in Poland that have been in use for over 50 years. The selected structures have more diverse structures of decks and are more prone to damage than road bridges. Due to the lack of algorithms similar to the one discussed within this paper, it was verified in a limited scope with the use of two different methods by way of comparing the accordance of bridge ranking which is of importance for making a decision concerning the performance of maintenance and repair work.

2 Green supply chain management related performance indicators in agro industry: A review

Environmental protection and sustainability issues in food sector have attracted global concerns in the past two decades. Companies and government in many countries have started realizing the importance of greening their supply chains. Green supply chain management has gained special attention of public and many companies are now interested in adopting it as their strategy to advance their brand image, capturing more market share and to win the trust of the customer. The purpose of this paper is to explore the diverse performance indicators and sub-indicators responsible for green supply chain management implementation and to check its reliability and to rank them using analytic hierarchy process analysis. After extensive literature review and consulting Industrial experts, the study has suggested 13 perfor mance indicators and 79 sub-indicators. The quantitative phase was conducted through a survey using standard questionnaire with various agro based companies followed by a qualitative phase, where the duly filled questionnaires were received, edited and further analyzed. It has been concluded that internal environmental management, environmental design and regulatory pressure are ranked as the top three performance indicators. The sensitivity analysis has also been performed to see the effect of weightage on the final ranking of performance indicators. This is one of the first studies that suggest the perfor mance indicators for implementation of green supply chain management in agro industry. The study will certainly aid the related organizations to implement green supply chain management.

3 The synthetic geo-ecological environmental evaluation of a coastal coal-mining city using spatiotemporal big data: A case study in Longkou, China

The geological and ecological (geo-ecological) environment of the coastal coal-mining city is a basic element for human subsistence, and it connects the regional economy with social sustainable devel opment. Using Longkou, a coastal mining city, as an example, a geological and ecological environmental quality assessment was conducted based on spatiotemporal big data. Remote sensing images, a digital elevation model (DEM), and precipitation and interpolation processing were used to generate factor layers. A synthetic evaluation index system was set up, including physical geography, geological condi tions, mining intensity, ecological environmental recovery and geological hazards associated with mining. Moreover, an analytical hierarchy process was used to calculate the factor weight of each evaluation factor, and a consistency check was performed to build an assessment model of the geo ecological environment of Longkou. The results indicate that multi-factor spatiotemporal big data pro vide a scientific assessment of the geo-ecological environmental quality with indispensable data and methods. The spatial distribution of geo-ecological environmental quality presented clear specialization of zonality, showing poor quality in the coastal coal mine ore concentration area and good quality in the inland and mountainous areas of Nanshan Mountain. The geo-ecological environmental quality of Longkou was divided into 5 levels as worst, poor, middle, good and better districts. The good and better districts accounted for 76.763% of the total area of the assessment region, indicating that the geo ecological environmental quality of the study area was in good condition. The mining intensity and ecological environment recovery were major factors in determining the regional variation of the geo ecological environment of Longkou. The possible causes inducing uncertainties and limitations in eval uation of the geo-ecological environmental quality were discussed. The model combining AHP with GIS proposed in this paper is an effective means of evaluating regional geo-ecological environmental quality.
