tourism development. The results indicate that most local Korean governments actively manage online
tools such as Facebook, to communicate with the public and offer a wide range of information to promote
tourism. A notable finding is that the level of local governmental could affect the level of social networking
site use for tourism. It is claimed that the varying level of social networking site use is because the scale
of the tourism industry and the level of information and communication technology innovation could
vary with different types of municipalities. Through network analyses, the study also shows that Korean
local governments’ Facebook pages are co-related in the Facebook system as part of a smart tourism

Analysing relationships in tourism: A review
2016 In recent decades, a systemic notion of tourism has been gaining ground, leading to its recognition as a
set of interacting elements. From this perspective, relationships have become an important factor in
research for understanding tourism, proving useful in the planning and management of tourism desti
nations. By means of an comprehensive review of the main contributions in the scientific literature in
this regard, this paper highlights that there is no one single conception or theoretical-methodological
approach to studying relationships, and proposes a classification of the literature on the basis of six
major research lines, with a view to identifying and analysing the main advances and gaps presented by
each of the research lines. In short, the article identifies the main lines of research developed in this field,
analysing the main contributions and making a series of proposals to guide the future research agenda
regarding the analysis of relationships in tourism.

Scuba Diving Tourism System: A framework for collaborative management and sustainability
2015 This paper proposes a conceptual model for the scuba diving tourism system (SDTS). A holistic view was
adopted to highlight the central elements of scuba diving tourism (SDT). Specifically, the paper examines
the key components in the SDTS along with issues which challenge the sustainability of SDT. Scuba
divers, the marine environment, the host community and the scuba diving tourism industry (including
all associated industries) are fundamental elements of the SDTS. Notably, the host community is often
overlooked as a key stakeholder in the management and sustainability of SDT at the destination. A
systems approach used to conceptualise the SDTS highlights the need for adaptive management and
leadership to encourage future orientated thinking and the integration of stakeholder concerns and
perspectives to ensure the sustainability of marine resources and experiences.
