1 Is nepotism so bad for family firms? A socioemotional wealth approach
آیا قوم پرستی برای شرکتهای خانوادگی خیای بد است؟ یک دیدگاه ارزش اجتماعی - احساسی-2018
This paper focuses on the issue of nepotism or the practice of hiring and managing family members in family firms. Extant research suggests that while nepotism is related to numerous problems, it also offers some unique advantages to family owned firms. We use a socioemotional wealth (SEW) perspective to develop a theoretical framework that explains how nepotism influences firm performance. In doing so, we rely upon a nuanced conceptualization of SEW to clarify why some family firms are more likely to engage in nepotism than others, as well as explain the contingencies under which nepotism may prove beneficial or detrimental for family firms. Finally, we explore how human resource practices might impact the interplay between nepotism, environmental contingencies, and firm performance.

2 Monthly cyclicality in retail Investors’ liquidity and lottery-type stocks at the turn of the month
چرخه ای بودن ماهانه در نقدینگی سرمایه گذاران خرده و بورس های نوع قرعه کشی در باز شدن دهان-2018
The well-documented underperformance of lottery stocks masks a within-month cyclical pattern. Demand for lottery stocks increases at the turn of the month, especially in areas whose demographic profile resembles that of typical lottery-ticket buyers (i.e., gamblers), thus driving their prices higher. This effect is rooted in local retail investors’ preference for lottery stocks and propelled by the within-month cyclicality of local investors’ personal liquidity positions. A long-short investment strategy based on this cyclical pattern of lottery stocks’ performance yields gross abnormal returns of about 12.6% per year.

3 When saving is gambling
وقتی که ذخیره کردن پول، قماربازی است-2018
Prize-linked savings (PLS) accounts, which allocate interest using lottery payments rather than fixed interest, encourage savings by appealing to households’ gambling preferences. I introduce new data on casino cash withdrawals to measure gambling, and examine how individual gambling expenditures respond to the introduction of PLS in Nebraska using a difference-in-differences design. After PLS is introduced, individuals who live in counties that offer PLS reduce gambling by at least 3% more than unaffected individuals. The substitution effect is stronger in low-frills gambling environments, which most resemble PLS, indicating that these accounts fulfill the desire to gamble.

4 Can financial innovation succeed by catering to behavioral preferences? Evidence from a callable options market
آیا نوآوری مالی می تواند ازطریق فراهم کردن اولویت های رفتاری موفق شود؟ شواهدی از یک بازار گزینه ای فراخواندنی-2018
We examine the notion that financial products which cater to investors’ behavioral biases can yield high trading activity and thus be profitable for issuers. Our setting considers options with a callback feature, namely, callable bull/bear contracts (CBBCs). Such contracts have high skewness when close to callback and thus appeal to cumulative prospect theory preferences. CBBCs with high skewness earn negative average returns, and issuers’ gross profits vary positively with CBBC skewness. Over the 2009–2014 period, issuers earn gross profits of about $1.67 billion by trading CBBCs on the Hang Seng Index. These findings highlight the role of behavioral finance in financial innovation.
