Effect of a theory-driven educational intervention on the level of knowledge, attitudes, and assessment practices regarding breakthrough cancer pain (BTCP) management among medical nurses in Hong Kong
تأثیر مداخله آموزشی مبتنی بر تئوری بر سطح دانش، نگرش ها و شیوه های ارزیابی در مورد مدیریت سرطان پیشرفته (BTCP) در پرستاران پزشکی در هنگ کنگ-2021 Purpose: To examine the effect of an educational intervention intended to improve medical nurses’ adherence to
breakthrough cancer pain (BTCP) assessment practices and their level of knowledge, attitudes and perceived
assessment practices regarding BTCP management.
Methods: Nurses working in a regional hospital were recruited to this quasi-experimental study. The intervention
group received a 3-h educational workshop and one session of individual clinical instruction, whilst the control
group did not receive any intervention. Chart audits were performed to examine adherence to BTCP assessment
practices as the primary outcome. A self-developed questionnaire was used to measure nurses’ knowledge, at-
titudes and perceived assessment practices regarding BTCP management as the secondary outcomes. The chi-
square or Fisher’s exact test was used to compare the rate of adherence to BTCP assessment practices between
groups. A generalised estimating equation was used to compare changes in knowledge, attitudes, and perceived
assessment practices between groups over time.
Results: One hundred and five nurses completed the study. The chart audits revealed a significantly higher rate of
adherence to BTCP assessment practices in the intervention group after the intervention (p < .05). The inter-
vention group exhibited significant positive changes in scores for knowledge (β = 25.49, p < .001), attitude (β =
0.98 to 2.81, p < .01), and their perceived assessment practices (β = 1.33 to 3.14, p < .002) when compared with
the control group.
Conclusions: This theory-driven educational intervention significantly improved the medical nurses’ adherence to
BTCP assessment practices and their level of knowledge attitudes and perceived assessment practices regarding

‘Going agile’: Exploring the use of project management tools in fostering psychological safety in group work within management discipline courses
رفتن چابک: بررسی استفاده از ابزارهای مدیریت پروژه در پرورش ایمنی روانشناختی در کار گروهی در دوره های انضباط مدیریت-2021 While psychological safety is widely acknowledged to be a crucial factor in determining how well
teams function, little attention has been paid to this phenomenon in management education and
HE more broadly. This highlights an important gap, given the ‘thorny’ nature, and pervasive use,
of group work. We contribute the first examination of an HE intervention to increase psycho-
logical safety. Specifically, through a two-phase mixed methods approach (pre/post surveys and
focus groups, student diaries), we examine the implementation of Agile project management
principles in both an undergraduate and postgraduate digital marketing course (total n = 131).
The findings illustrate that the intervention increased psychological safety along with team-
performance, group learning, interpersonal communication and creativity, whilst also reducing
the free-rider problem. The study provides three contributions. First, we extend knowledge of
psychological safety by showing it can be fostered through interventions providing two core
antecedents (supporting facilitation and a cohesive framework). Second, we build knowledge of
psychological safety in education by evidencing a greater breadth of positive outcomes, which
until now has been mostly limited to knowledge development. Third, we expand understanding of
implementing group work interventions in management, providing five important considerations
for educational practitioners. keywords: چابک | ایمنی روانی | کار گروهی | اسکرام | ابزارهای مدیریت پروژه | Agile | Psychological safety | Group work | Scrum | Project management tools |

Intellectual engagements of accounting academics: The ‘forecasted losses intervention
2021 This paper explores the social and political potential of accounting scholarship, presenting and
discussing an intellectual intervention challenging a legislative reform that significantly affected
Spanish industrial relations. In this reform, an accounting artifact (forecasted losses) played an
unexpected role and was misrepresented, prompting a sizeable number of scholars to sign two
manifestos in 2010 and 2012 against the use of forecasted losses made by the new legislation. As
promoters of this manifesto, we perform in this paper a collaborative autoethnography to reflect
on the context, events, reactions, and significance of this intervention for both the academic and
the industrial relations fields. We mobilize Pierre Bourdieu’s ideas on the public intellectual to
think more generally about academic engagements in the interplay between accounting, poli-
cymaking, and social issues. This intervention illustrates the different manners in which admin-
istrative and economic powers interfered in the Spanish accounting academic field, limiting the
disposition of Spanish scholars to engage in public debates. We also interpret our engagement as
mobilizing intellectual capital to expose how the notion of forecasted losses was used to produce a
form of symbolic violence and how this capital is more effective as it produces messages
addressed to the producers, i.e., policymakers and the judicature in this specific case. keywords: حسابداری انتقادی | روابط صنعتی | مداخلات فکری | انعکاس | Critical accounting | Industrial relations | Intellectual interventions | Reflexivity |

Sustainable supply chain management considering technology investments and government intervention
مدیریت پایدار زنجیره تأمین با در نظر گرفتن سرمایه گذاری های فن آوری و مداخلات دولت-2021 With the aggravation of the global environmental crisis, consumers are keen to use green products, and enterprises are more committed to technology investment and innovation to meet consumers’ green preferences. This study considers a supply chain system composed of one manufacturer and one retailer, where the manufacturer invests in green emission reduction technology (GERT) to reduce carbon emissions, and the retailer invests in information disclosure technology to transmit the higher greenness quality of products to consumers. We discuss the technology investment decisions and cooperation strategies between the manufacturer and the retailer, as well as the impacts of government regulations on supply chain members’ decisions. We consider three scenarios: decentralized, government intervention, and cost sharing and government intervention. We derive the optimal technology investment decisions of the manufacturer and retailer. In addition, we identify the conditions for the manufacturer to subsidize the retailer’s disclosure technology costs. The results show that a higher emission reduction subsidy encourages GERT investments and increases supply chain members’ profits. However, when the government sets a higher emission reduction standard, the subsidy neither increases the emission reduction nor benefits the retailer, and hurts the manufacturer’s profit. We also demonstrate that when there is cost sharing and government intervention, emission reduction and supply chain performance are always better than in the other scenarios. Effects of self-management interventions on heart failure: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials - Reprint
اثرات مداخلات خودمراقبتی بر نارسایی قلبی: بررسی سیستماتیک و متاآنالیز آزمایش های کنترل شده تصادفی - چاپ مجدد-2021 Background: Self-management intervention is an important component of disease management in patients
with heart failure. It can improve heart failure knowledge, quality of life, and heart failure-related hospitalizations of heart failure patients. However, studies on the effect of two self-management interventions
tasks have reported conflicting results.
Objective: This study conducted an up-to-date systematic review of the literature to evaluate the effects of self-management interventions on heart failure knowledge, quality of life, and heart failure-related hospitalizations in patients with heart failure. Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Data sources: We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and the references of articles in 14th December 2019. Methods: The study characteristics included: authors, year, country, sample size, mean age of patients with heart failure, duration of intervention, recruitment and intervention delivery, interventions based on self-efficacy theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, disease management, self-care education. The risk of bias for each study was assessed independently by two investigators based on the Cochrane Handbook. This study used Revman to analyze different research outcomes. The fixed-effect model was used in the absence of significant heterogeneity or low heterogeneity, and if the heterogeneity was high, the random effect model was used. Results: A total of 4977 publications were retrieved in this study. After eliminating duplicates and screening for titles and abstracts, 209 articles were retrieved for full-text evaluation. Finally, a total sample size analyzed across 15 randomized controlled trials was 2630 participants. This study showed that selfmanagement interventions significantly improved heart failure knowledge (0.61, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.27–0.95, p = 0.0004), quality of life (0.20, 95% CI 0.02–0.38, p = 0.03), and heart failure-related hospitalization (OR 0.40, 95% CI 0.29 to 0.55, p<0.00001) in patients with heart failure. Conclusions: This study reveals the beneficial effects of self-management interventions on heart failure knowledge, quality of life, and heart failure-related hospitalization in patients with heart failure. Therefore, high quality randomized controlled designs are needed to explore the optimal self-management interventions for patients with heart failure. keywords: نارسایی قلبی | خود مدیریت | دانش نارسایی قلب | کیفیت زندگی | بستری شدن از نارسایی های قلب | Heart failure | Self-management | Heart failure knowledge | Quality of life | Heart failure-related hospitalization |

Experts’ multiple criteria evaluations of fuel management options to reduce wildfire susceptibility: The role of closer knowledge of the local socioeconomic context
ارزیابی معیارهای چندگانه کارشناسان گزینه های مدیریت سوخت برای کاهش حساسیت به آتش سوزی:نقش دانش دقیق تر از زمینه اجتماعی-اقتصادی محلی-2021 Expert opinion can be a valuable tool for informed decision making. Concerning wildfire susceptibility reduction
at the landscape scale, forest ecosystem experts play a key role in offering advice about appropriate fuel man-
agement practices to be applied by forest owners or their organizations, and in shaping public policies. A
literature review aimed at identifying fuel management interventions and techniques found multiple and even
opposing strategies. Recognizing the interdisciplinary and multi-dimensional nature of fuel management, we go
beyond existing studies on forest experts’ opinions by comparing evaluations across forest experts with diverse
training and experience, and by considering different evaluation criteria such as technical effectiveness, impact
on soil or biodiversity, socioeconomic impact, and preference. Following an online survey to a sample of Por-
tuguese experts, distinct socio-professional clusters were established and experts’ evaluations associated with
their views on fire, forests, owners’ coordination, and rural development. Results show that experts rank their
preferences by weighing effectiveness and impacts in different ways. Closer knowledge of the local context
distinguishes expert preference, favouring more active fuels reduction strategies. Since experts with a closer
knowledge of socioeconomic context tend to be further from policy-making processes, we urge their more
balanced participation in those processes. keywords: مدیریت منظره | کاهش حساسیت وحشی | مدیریت چند مالکیت | جنگلداری کوچک | تظاهرات کارشناس | Landscape management | Wildfire susceptibility reduction | Multi-ownership management | Small-scale forestry | Expert elicitation |

Causal models accounted for research participation effects when estimating effects in a behavioral intervention trial
مدلهای علّی تأثیرات مشارکت در پژوهش حسابی زمان تخمین تأثیرات در یک کارآزمایی مداخله رفتاری-2021 Objective: Participants in intervention studies are asked to take part in activities linked to the conduct of research, including signing
consent forms and being assessed. If participants are affected by such activities through mechanisms by which the intervention is
intended to work, then there is confounding. We examine how to account for research participation effects analytically.
Study design and setting: Data from a trial of a brief alcohol intervention among Swedish university students is used to show how
a proposed causal model can account for assessment effects.
Results: The proposed model can account for research participation effects as long as researchers are willing to use existing data
to make assumptions about causal influences, for instance on the magnitude of assessment effects. The model can incorporate several
research processes which may introduce bias.
Conclusions: As our knowledge grows about research participation effects, we may move away from asking if participants are affected
by study design, toward rather asking by how much they are affected, by which activities and in which circumstances. The analytic
perspective adopted here avoids assuming there are no research participation effects.

Internal benchmarking to assess the cost efficiency of a broiler production system combining data envelopment analysis and throughput accounting
محک گذاری داخلی برای ارزیابی کارایی هزینه سیستم تولید جوجه های گوشتی با ترکیب تحلیل پوششی داده ها و حسابداری توان عملیاتی-2021 Economic efficiency assessments based on Data Envelopment Analysis are scarce compared to technical effi-
ciency studies, even in for-profit firms. Some aspects justify this scarcity, such as the difficulty to estimate ac-
curate prices, given their variability over time. In many situations, external benchmarking is hindered due to
organizations’ unique nature and the barriers to sharing information considered critical to competitiveness. The
use of internal benchmarking can overcome some of these difficulties. This study conducted an internal
benchmarking analysis of a broiler production system, focusing on cost efficiency. We conducted longitudinal
case-based research over six years (2014–2019). The concepts of throughput accounting of the Theory of Con-
straints were applied to structure the DEA model (inputs, prices, and output). The Critical Incident Technique
was used to explore the effects of interventions on the production system’s cost efficiency. The results show that
the broiler production system could reduce 32% of the total cost per unit of production if the balance of inputs
suggested by the DEA evaluation was used. This work contributes to the literature by showing the potential of
internal benchmarking to explore the evolution of cost efficiency over time. From a practical perspective, this
study is important for managers by showing how to measure the impact of management actions on performance,
providing valuable information to guide continuous improvement. keywords: بهره وری اقتصادی | بهره وری هزینه | معیار سنج داخلی | تحلیل پوششی داده ها | تولید جوجه های گوشتی | حسابداری | Economic efficiency | Cost efficiency | Internal benchmarking | Data envelopment analysis | Broiler production | Throughput accounting |

Exploring learning processes associated with a cancer pain self-management intervention in patients and family caregivers: A mixed methods study
Background: Self-management of cancer pain is challenging for patients and their family caregivers (FCs). While
psychoeducational interventions can support them to handle these tasks, it remains unclear how learning pro-
cesses are hampered or facilitated.
Methods: A convergent parallel mixed methods design with qualitative data collection embedded in a randomized
controlled trial (RCT) was used. Outpatients with cancer and FCs were recruited from three Swiss university
hospitals. The six-week intervention consisted of education, skills building, and nurse coaching. Quantitative
data on pain management knowledge and self-efficacy were analyzed using multilevel models. Patients and FCs
were interviewed post-RCT regarding their learning experiences. Qualitative data analysis was guided by
interpretive description. Finally, quantitative and qualitative data were integrated using case level comparisons
and a meta-matrix.
Results: Twenty-one patients and seven FCs completed this study. The group-by-time effect showed increases in
knowledge (p = 0.035) and self-efficacy (p = 0.007). Patients and FCs learning through experience was sup-
ported by an intervention nurse, who was perceived as competent and trustworthy. After the study, most
intervention group participants felt more confident to implement pain self-management. Finally, data integration
showed that declining health hampered some patients pain self-management.
Conclusions: Competent and trustworthy nurses can support patients and FCs pain self-management by providing
individualized interventions. Using a diary, jointly reflecting on the documented experiences, and addressing
knowledge deficits and misconceptions through the use of academic detailing can facilitate patients and FCs
learning of critical skills. keywords: سرطان | مدیریت درد | آموزش بیمار | روش های ترکیبی تحقیق | خودکار کارآمدی | Cancer | Pain management | Patient education | Mixed methods research | Self-efficacy |

Bundle-of-care interventions to improve self-management of patients with urinary catheters: Study protocol
2021 Background: Community-based urinary catheter-associated complications contribute to avoidable, costly
hospital presentations. To minimise catheter-associated complications and improve the quality of life of
patients living in the community, it is essential to improve catheter self-management through increasing
patients’ and caregivers’ knowledge and self-efficacy.
Aim: To co-design, develop and evaluate a bundle-of-care intervention to improve catheter selfmanagement, reduce catheter-associated complications, and improved quality of life. Design: Mixed methods design underpinned by the principles of Appreciative Inquiry, micro- and spacedlearning pedagogies. Methods: A co-designed care bundle will be developed, to support both patients and nurses in improving catheter care in both acute and community settings. Intervention bundles for patients will be delivered using “GoShare Healthcare” and for nurses, using QStream. The underpinning pedagogical approaches of these two digital platforms focus on increasing knowledge retention and improving patient health outcomes. A process evaluation of the intervention will be undertaken using data collected from surveys, electronic medical record audits, and participant interviews. The primary outcome is improved catheter selfmanagement, and secondary outcomes are increased self-efficacy and patients’ knowledge of catheter self-management. Discussion: The IQ-IDC study applies a two-pronged approach to co-design a bundle-of-care intervention that addresses important gaps in current catheter management. This study will contribute to new knowledge on effective implementation strategies to optimise self-management in urinary catheter care. keywords: سوند ادرار | بسته های مراقبت | خود مدیریت | خودپرداز | گوشی های هوشمند | پروتکل بالینی | Urinary catheter | Care bundles | Self-management | Self-efficacy | Smart phone | Clinical protocol |
