Analysing the inhibitors of complexity for achieving sustainability and improving sustainable performance of petroleum supply chain
تجزیه و تحلیل مهارکننده های پیچیدگی برای دستیابی به پایداری و بهبود عملکرد پایدار زنجیره تأمین نفت-2021 In the era of business sustainability, the modern supply chain is becoming complex due to several inhibitors such as uncertainty in the market, technological innovation, environmental protocols, cross-border trade regulations, and many stakeholders’ involvement. In the existing literature, minimal discussion to study the inhibit supply chain complexity (SCC) inhibitors for achieving sustainability. Therefore, the study analyses the inhibitors to SCC and supply chain sustainability (SCS) jointly. The combined examination of the underlying relationship for improving the Petroleum Supply Chain’s sustainable performance (PSC) is arguably one of the complex sectors with a significant impact on the environment and sustainability. The inhibitors to SCC and SCS are identified through extensive literature review and experts’ opinions. Through a structured questionnaire, data were collected from PSC experts. An integrated approach of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and interpretive structural modelling (ISM) is proposed to prioritize and examine the underlying relationship between inhibitors. This study explores the driving and dependence power of the inhibitors. The results indicate that most of the SCS inhibitors, such as institutional pressures (laws and regulations), strategic lack of strategic supplier alliance, market threat, act as drivers of SCC inhibitors, such as technological complexity, horizontal complexity, and complexity of customers. The study’s findings would help the supply chain managers and the petroleum sector policymakers to make better decision to overcome the challenges for achieving sustainability in PSC. Analysis of barriers of sustainable supply chain management in electronics industry: An interpretive structural modelling approach
تجزیه و تحلیل موانع مدیریت پایدار زنجیره تأمین در صنعت الکترونیک: یک رویکرد مدل سازی ساختاری تفسیری-2021 In the past, industries were concentrating only on the economic aspects of a business. Many organizations are now addressing the social and environment impact of their supply chain for which they are adopting sustainability in their supply chain. The process of transformation to a sustainable supply chain will encounter some barriers which need to be eliminated or mitigated. To successfully manage these obstacles, it is crucial to know and study these barriers in specific context. This research aims to identify and analyse major barriers hampering sustainability implementation in the case of electronics industry in India. Through literature review and experts’ opinion eleven barriers are identified and classified into categories of Policy, Human resource and Technology. The hierarchical structure and interrelationship among these barriers is established using Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) methodology. A major finding in this research is that lack of awareness on benefits of sustainability, lack of regulations and enforcement of environment standards and lack of commitment from top management are significant barriers in implementation of a sustainable supply chain. The driving and driven powers of these barriers and their interdependence is determined. Using MICMAC analysis, five barriers were recognized to be the driver variables, three barriers as dependent variables and three as linkage variables. The barrier lack of performance metrics/evaluation standards on sustainability is having strong dependence power and least driving power implying that it is highly influenced by other variables. It is found that most of the barriers in the policy category are independent with high driving and influencing power. The research draws attention to formulate targeted policies at both government and organizational level in the electronics industry for successful implementation of sustainable supply chain management. The modeling gives an insight to organizations in confronting barriers and to manage their resources in an efficient and effective way while making their supply chains sustainable. The paper concludes with findings and future scope of research being discussed. Analysis of factors affecting project communications with a hybrid DEMATEL-ISM approach (A case study in Iran)
تجزیه و تحلیل عوامل موثر بر ارتباطات پروژه با یک رویکرد ترکیبی DEMATEL-ISM (مطالعه موردی در ایران)-2020 One of the main factors in the success of projects is communications management and proper and timely distribution of information among all internal and external project stakeholders. Despite of emphasizing on the importance of project communications in the literature, there are few studies identifying factors influencing project communications. This research aims to address this shortcoming by identifying and determining sequences and relationships factors affecting project communications and their clustering. The informed communication strategy allows managers to structure the information flow in a better and more controlled manner and to avoid the costs caused by lack of effective and timely communication. The present study is conducted to help clarify the views of the organizations managers and project managers on project communications, and to identify factors affecting it and how they effectively communicate to successfully accomplish the projects. First a number of factors influencing project communications are identified on the basis of previous studies and interviews with experts and project managers working in oil, gas and power plant construction megaprojects in Iran. Then, these factors are analyzed by using the combination of fuzzy DEMATEL and Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) techniques. The relationships and sequence between the indicators are determined so that it can be effective in project communications planning and project success through providing an insight for senior managers and project managers. Analyzing green building project risk interdependencies using Interpretive Structural Modeling
تجزیه و تحلیل وابستگی متقابل پروژه ساختمان سبز با استفاده از مدل سازی ساختاری تفسیری-2020 Green building (GB) projects have attracted wide attention in the construction industry in recent years
owing to numerous benefits of green practices for sustainable development. However, existing research
efforts on GB project risk management are very limited, and no prior in-depth research has focused on
studying the risk interdependencies in GB projects from the perspectives of both the project life cycle
and multiple project risks. This paper begins by identifying and distinguishing GB project constraints
from multiple GB project risks using a systematic literature review and then investigates, based on the
Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) method, the risk interdependencies taking into account the
identified 16 constraint factors, 22 risk factors and 11 objectives throughout a GB project life cycle. The
importance of constraints and risk factors associated with GB project objectives was calculated based on
the influence transmission through network paths in the established ISM-based model. In addition, the
Matrice d’Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliquee a un Classement (MICMAC) approach was used to
analyze the drive and dependence powers of risk interdependency elements. Critical constraints and risk
factors in the implementation of GB projects can be obtained from the proposed risk analysis model,
which contributes to an in-depth risk perception of GB projects for industry practitioners and facilitates
GB project risk management in a more effective way Keywords: Green building projects | Risk management | Risk interdependencies | Interpretive structural modeling (ISM) | Matrice d’Impacts Croises Multiplication | Appliquee a un Classement (MICMAC) | analysis |

Next Generation Smart Sustainable Auditing Systems using Big Data Analytics: Understanding the interaction of critical barriers
سیستم های حسابرسی پایدار هوشمند نسل بعد با استفاده از تحلیل داده های بزرگ: درک تعامل موانع بحرانی-2018 In the current scenario, sustainable auditing, for example roundtable of sustainable palm oil
(RSPO), requires a huge amount of data to be manually collected and entered into paper
forms by farmers. Such systems are inherently inefficient, time-consuming, and, prone to
errors. Researchers have proposed Big Data Analytics (BDA) based framework for next
generation smart sustainable auditing systems. Though theoretically feasible, real-life
implementation of such frameworks is extremely difficult. Thus, this paper aims to identify
the critical barriers that hinder the application of BDA based smart sustainable auditing
system. It also aims to explore the dynamic interrelations among the barriers. We applied
Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) approach to develop the model that extrapolates
BDA adoption barriers and their relationships. The proposed model illustrates how barriers
are spread over various levels and how specific barriers impact other barriers through direct
and/or transitive links. This study provides practitioners with a roadmap to prioritise the
interventions to facilitate the adoption of BDA in the sustainable auditing systems. Insights of
this study could be used by academics to enhance understanding of the barriers to BDA
applications.

To identify the critical success factors of sustainable supply chain management practices in the context of oil and gas industries: ISM approach
شناسایی عوامل موفقیت بحرانی شیوه های مدیریت زنجیره تامین در زمینه صنایع نفت و گاز: رویکرد ISM-2017 The concept of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) has been considered as an important
organizational philosophy to achieve profits by reducing environmental risk and impact while improving
the economic and social efficiency factors (ESEF). The objective of this paper is to present an approach to
identify the critical success factors (CSFs) of motivation and encouragement, for the successful
implementation of SSCM practices in Indian oil and gas industries. 32 CSFs were identified from the
literature and opinions of academicians and industry practitioners. The Interpretive Structural Modeling
(ISM) methodology was used for establishing the mutual relationships among the drivers, which not only
helps in understanding the relative relationship between the CSFs but also in determining their
interdependence while implementing sustainability. Further, the importance of CSFs with respect to
sustainability was identified based on their driving and dependence power by using MICMAC analysis.
“Global Climatic Pressure and Ecological Scarcity of Resources” was determined to be the most influential
criterion that may force industries to implement sustainable practices. An example of Indian oil and gas
industry has been presented to show the real-world applicability of the proposed model. This study may
help academicians, government regulators, and practitioners to emphasize their efforts towards imple
mentation of SSCM at various levels of organization.

Understanding influential factors on implementing green supply chain management practices: An interpretive structural modelling analysis
شناخت عوامل موثر بر اجرای شیوه های مدیریت زنجیره تامین سبز: تجزیه و تحلیل مدل سازی ساختاری تفسیری-2017 In this study, we establish a set of 19 influential factors on the implementation of Green Supply Chain
Management (GSCM) practices and analyse the interaction between these factors and their effect on the
implementation of GSCM practices using the Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) method and the
“Matrice d’Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliqu ee a un Classement ” (MICMAC) analysis on data
compiled from interviews with supply chain (SC) executives based in the Gulf countries (Middle East
region). The study reveals a strong influence and driving power of the nature of the relationships be
tween SC partners on the implementation of GSCM practices. We especially found that dependence,
trust, and durability of the relationship with SC partners have a very high influence. In addition, the size
of the company, the top management commitment, the implementation of quality management and the
employees training and education exert a critical influence on the implementation of GSCM practices.
Contextual elements such as the industry sector and region and their effect on the prominence of specific
factors are also highlighted through our study. Finally, implications for research and practice are
discussed.
