در این تحقیق، یافته هایی در ارتباط با چشم انداز اجرای فناوری های تحول دیجیتال (DTT) به منظور دستیابی به فرآیندهای پایدار در تدارکات و مدیریت زنجیره تامین شرکت های تولیدی ارائه شده است.DTT می تواند از نظر بهره وری انرژی ، کاهش فواصل انتقال و توزیع و بهینه سازی منابع تدارکات بهبود یابد. این تحقیق براساس مطالعات موردی کیفی در میان تولیدکنندگان انجام شده است. به دلیل اینکه تحقیقات فعلی اغلب بر بعد اقتصادی متمرکز است، تأکید ویژه ای بر پایداری اجتماعی و محیطی شده است. نتایج نشان می دهد که استقرار DTT در تدارکات و مدیریت زنجیره تأمین به طور متوسط تأثیر مثبتی بر بعد پایداری زیست محیطی و اجتماعی دارد.

2 Measuring sustainability through ecological sustainability and human sustainability: A machine learning approach

Nowadays, sustainability is recognized as one of the most important development paradigms and included in the international and national strategies of almost all organizations. Sustainability assessment methods have been important for monitoring sustainability performance. These methods are developed to help decision-makers in their attempts to make society more sustainable. Various methods have been proposed for assessing the sustainability performance, however, this research is the first attempt to employ fuzzy clustering and supervised machine learning techniques to country sustainability assessment. This research tries to extend the previous sustainability assessment systems by the use of these techniques to reveal the relationships between human sustainability, ecological sustainability and overall sustainability performance by discovering the decision rules. The decision rules discovered from the Sustainability Assessment by Fuzzy Evaluation data of 128 countries are used to predict the country sustainability performance. The method proposed in this paper is flexible to accept large number indicators of sustainability to be used in the assessment of countries sustainability. The results of our analysis on countries sustainability data showed that the proposed method has potential to be used as a decision-making tool for sustainability assessment through a large set of indicators.

3 Environmental sustainability of agri-food supply chains: An LCA comparison between two alternative forms of production and distribution of endive in northern Italy

Alternative cultivation practices such as organic and integrated farming are generally proposed as a mean to reduce environmental impacts associated with food production and consumption. For the same reason, various schemes of direct sale or distribution of local agricultural products have been increasingly developed as an alternative to large-scale distribution of nationally or globally sourced products. How ever, for a variety of vegetable crops such as salads and leaves, there is few scientific evidence about the relative environmental performance of alternative farming techniques. Similarly, alternative distribution systems have mainly been investigated only in terms of their energy and climate change performance, and mostly within the debate on domestic/local versus imported/delocalised food supply. In this paper, life cycle assessment (LCA) was used to compare the potential environmental impacts of two agricultural supply chains, with the primary aim of testing the expected benefits of vegetable organic farming and of alternative forms of distribution promoting packaging reduction and a shortened supply chain. Organic and integrated production of endive (Cichorium endivia) in Lombardia (northern Italy) were firstly compared, according to a cradle-to-farm gate approach. The comparison was then extended to the whole supply chain, considering the direct distribution of raw organic endive to local networks of ethical purchasing groups by means of returnable crates, and the large-scale retailing of conventional endive as a ready-to-use product after its industrial cutting, washing and packing. Fourteen environmental and human health impact categories were considered as terms of comparison, along with the cumulative energy demand. Results revealed that none of the examined farming techniques has a better overall environmental profile. In fact, when impacts are expressed per hectare of cultivated area, nearly half impact categories (7/15) are favourable to organic farming, with impact reductions ranging from 13% to 55%. However, organic fertilisation practices are responsible for higher impacts of this cultivation form in terms of acidification (þ16%), terrestrial eutrophication (þ32%) and non-carcinogenic human toxicity (þ127%). Per kg of harvested product, impact categories favourable to organic farming are reduced to five, while six are favourable to integrated farming (which achieves higher yields). Organic farming techniques thus need to be further improved in terms of fertilisation practices and achievable yields in order to achieve a more sustainable production system. Considering the whole supply chain, the direct distribution of the raw organic product loose at the local level is preferable for all impact categories except one, where the impact of the farming stage is dominant and against organic production. This exception however disappears if farming is excluded from the comparison (i.e. only distribution and consumption are considered). Observed reductions in overall supply chain impacts range mostly be tween 20% and 48% and are mainly enabled by the absence of disposable packaging items and industrial processing.

4 Environmental sustainability of agri-food supply chains in Italy: The case of the whole-peeled tomato production under life cycle assessment methodology

This life cycle assessment aimed to identify the impacts related to greenhouse gas emissions expressed as kgCO2eq 100- year Global Warming Potential (GWP100) in the whole peeled canned tomato production, considering all the supply chain steps. This study involved companies located in the Southern Italy who produce tinned tomatoes in 400 g tin cans. Tomato production throughout the field, processing, waste treatment, transport and post-consumers waste disposal phases were investigated. The analysis was conducted using a life-cycle approach, the related process flow chart and the relevant mass and energy flows for each production step were identified. Primary data were collected from farmers and processing companies located in the Capitanata plain (Southern Italy), whereas Ecoinvent (v 3.1) provided secondary data. The assessment was carried out by using the ILCD 2011 midpoint method. As regards greenhouse gas emissions, results showed that waste produced during the processing phase was the main contributor to the total environmental impact, followed by the packaging and cropping phase. Mineral fertilization especially nitrogen supply had the highest burdens for the growth phase. Sensitivity analysis was carried out to assess the overall benefit achievable from different mitigation options, highlighting as the composting process and the use of compost replacing the mineral fertilization improved greatly the environmental sustainability of tomato supply chain.

5 How would big data support societal development and environmental sustainability? Insights and practices
چگونه داده های بزرگ از توسعه اجتماعی و پایداری زیست محیطی حمایت می کنند؟ بینش و شیوه های-2017
The theme of this Special Volume (SV) focuses on improving natural resource management and human health to ensure sustainable societal development. Natural resources have been exploited unduly regardless of the consequences, which has resulted in inappropriate management natural resources and has caused severe environmental degradation. Contributions in this SV addressed improved environ mental management, utilization, and allocation of natural resources; evaluation of sustainable natural resource management; pollution prevention and treatment; and evaluation and suggestions for improved natural resource-related policies. The authors presented an inspiring panorama of the ini tiatives that have been developed throughout the world for sustainable natural resource management and improve societal development. Theoretically, new approaches to bridge the gaps between the economic development and environmental protection were increasingly dominant. Empirically, many of the papers provided case studies of regions in China and other regions. The authorship reflected growing collaboration between researchers from many different countries or universities. While the great di versity of contributions on the topic reflected the wealth of insights generated on the topic in recent years, there is much more that must be done to achieve societal sustainability in natural resource management.

6 Integrated municipal waste management systems: An indicator to assess their environmental and economic sustainability

Tools based on Life Cycle Thinking (LCT) are routinely used to assess the environmental and economic performance of integrated municipal solid waste (MSW) management systems. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is used to quantify the environmental impacts, whereas Life Cycle Costing (LCC) allows financial and economic assessments. These tools require specific experience and knowledge, and a large amount of data.The aim of this project is the definition of an indicator for the assessment of the environmental and economic sustainability of integrated MSW management systems. The challenge is to define a simple but comprehensive indicator that may be calculated also by local administrators and managers of the waste system and not only by scientists or LCT experts.The proposed indicator is a composite one, constituted by three individual indicators: two of them assess the environmental sustainability of the system by quantifying the achieved material and energy recovery levels, while the third one quantifies the costs. The composite indicator allows to compare different integrated MSW management systems in an objective way, and to monitor the performance of a system over time.The calculation of the three individual indicators has been tested on the integrated MSW management systems of the Lombardia Region (Italy) as well as on four of its provinces (Milano, Bergamo, Pavia, and Mantova).© 2015 Elsevier Ltd. هر چه شرکتهای بیشتری بفکرِ اجرای شیوه های پایدار داخلی باشند و با شرکتهای دیگر در طولِ زنجیره تامین آنها همکاری داشته باشند ،در نتیجه مطالعات مربوط به پایداری زیست محیطی نسبت به عملکرد شرکت افزایش خواهد یافت . با این وجود ، یافته های بدست امده از این مطالعات نشان میدهند که بین این موارد رابطه مثبت و منفی وجود دارد ،متخصصان همچنین در بهت و حیرت فرورفته اند که چه عملکردی برای دنبال نمودن میتواند مثمر ثمر باشد . با فرضیاتی که ریشه در منابع طبیعی دارند ، بر مبنای دیدگاه بنگاه اقتصادی ، مطالعه کنونی به بررسی بیش از 20 سال تحقیق و تفحص در زمینه شیوه های زنجیره تامین زیست محیطی با استفاده از متا انالیز پرداخته تا تاثیر کلی این شیوه های خاص را روی عملکردِ بنگاه اقتصادی مورد ارزیابی قرار دهند ، در واقع تاثیر مثبتِ این شیوه ها مد نظر است . نتایج نشان میدهند که رابطه میان شیوه های زنجیره تامین و عملکردِ بنگاه اقتصادی بازار محور ، عملیات محور ، حسابداری محور (مبتنی بر بازار / مبتنی بر عملیات/ مبتنی بر حسابداری) ، مثبت و چشمگیر است ، و میتواند موارد مربوط به کسب وکار را مورد حمایت و پشتیبانی قرار دهد به نحوی که نتایج مربوط به مدیریت زنجیره تامین منجر به افزایش عملکرد بنگاه اقتصادی شود . عملیاتی کردن شیوه های مختلف زنجیره تامین – بخشهای بالادست زنجیره تامین، طراحی ، تولید و بخشهای پایین دست زنجیره تامین – همراه با صنعت ، بخش نمونه ، اندازه بنگاه اقتصادی و زمان بعنوانِ تعدیل کننده های رابطه با نتایج دقیق به توسعه ی درکِ این روابط بین مدیریت زنجیره تامین پایدار محیطی و عملکرد بنگاه اقتصادی کمک میکنند .
