1 Impact of information hiding on circular food supply chains in business-to-business context
This study has analyzed food supply chains from the circular economy viewpoint with a focus on knowledge hiding. In this paper, we examine the practice of hiding knowledge among stakeholders, in which dimension, what this knowledge is and whether there are differences among specific groups of stakeholders. This is applied to distributors, producers, consumers, retailers, suppliers and farmers working within the meat industry in Turkey. It shows how information hiding affects the traceability of food supply chains and circularity in the meat industry. Three different theories have been examined in this paper. Stakeholder theory helps to analyze traceability of food supply chains among stakeholders; the theory of industrial symbiosis aims to achieve an efficient circular food supply chain through 9R (refuse, rethink, reduce, reuse, repair, refurbish, remanufacture, repurpose, recycle, recover) strategies by adopting traceability; the information theory is a key enabler to co- ordinate traceability from farm to fork to support a circular food supply chain. By using the theoretical lens, this paper sets out proposals for policymakers and managers in food supply chains to ensure traceability and transparency to achieve circular economy. Although some prior studies address knowledge hiding, information hiding hasn’t been examined with traceability and transparency dimensions in Circular Food Supply Chain(CFSC) in B2B business. This study attempts to fill this gap in the literature, improve theoretical understanding with our proposed framework and validating the impact of information hiding and reveal where knowledge is mostly hidden in terms of circular economy, stakeholders and 9Rs in the meat industry. A proposed framework for managers and policymakers based on a circular economy can bring social, economic and environmental benefits for the red meat industry in Turkey. Additionally, it offers a framework and recommendations for other countries and industries for possible adoption.

2 Understanding knowledge hiding in business organizations: A bibliometric analysis of research trends, 1988–2020
This paper investigates how knowledge hiding (KH) contributes to individuals, groups, and the business pro- cesses of organizations, with regards to improving employee performance, strategic performance, and the or- ganization’s overall knowledge management system (KMS), as well as the consequences and costs of KH in organizations. 117 English language research articles produced between 1988 and 2020 regarding KH are analyzed, and insights provided into science mapping and performance analysis of KH studies, by drawing ev- idence from publication activities, prominent themes, citation trends, and collaborations amongst contributors. The findings reveal that KH research has mainly focused on KH behavior, knowledge sharing (KS), and the KMS. Firms with KH practices are responsible for challenging employee creativity, motivation, and workplace envi- ronment. This study will help business managers and leaders hone cooperative behavior to achieve an innovative environment and desired goals. Knowledge hiding also has positive implications, where leaders may have to hide confidential information from external elements or internal subordinates to protect the enterprise’s sovereignty and integrity.

3 Technology-enabled knowledge management for community healthcare workers: The effects of knowledge sharing and knowledge hiding
The objective of this study is to explore different facet (dark and bright sides) of technology-enabled knowledge management (KM) for rural lay healthcare workers who belong to the bottom of pyramid (BoP) population in India. Data were collected through multiple rounds of engagements and semi-structured interviews with 37 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs). Findings indicate the existence of spirals of value that are shaped by KM practices in such settings. Technology-enabled KM through knowledge-sharing is supporting an upward spiral of value creation at three different levels, i.e., the micro-level in the form of empowerment of ASHAs, the meso-level in the form of better healthcare for the rural Indian population, and the macro-level in the form of an effective public health policy outcome as envisioned by the government. Contrary to the technology-enabled KM through knowledge-sharing, technology-enabled KM through knowledge-hiding is eroding value resulting in failed attempts to use technology and reduced self-efficacy of ASHAs at the micro level. Technology-enabled KM through knowledge-hiding at the macro level is promoting stratification and marginalization within rural communities in India. Study leaves key implications for healthcare researchers, policymakers and businesses.

4 The role of nature of knowledge and knowledge creating processes in knowledge hiding: Reframing knowledge hiding
Knowledge hiding research has traditionally focused on the ways in which knowledge is hidden in the context of interactions between employees. This study advances knowledge hiding research by highlighting the benefits of moving away from the dyadic level of analysis to a multilevel analysis across individuals, groups, and organi- zations. We also elaborate how knowledge hiding is influenced both by the nature of knowledge and by the modes of knowledge creation in organizations. We propose a theoretical framework that juxtaposes the nature of knowledge – tacit vs. explicit and component vs. architectural – against the four modes – socialization, exter- nalization, combination, and internalization – of the knowledge creating process in organizations. The frame- work developed in our study also enables us to identify four distinct root causes of knowledge hiding in organizations – functional bias, misaligned incentives, dysfunctional resource allocations, and value incongruence.

5 Demystifying knowledge hiding in academic roles in higher education
This paper presents a novel conceptual map of how knowledge hiding is understood and practiced in the higher education context. Building on a review of the knowledge management literature, we first discuss the nature of knowledge, the conceptualization of knowledge hiding, and other related concepts. Next, we identify factors that are linked to knowledge hiding intention and behaviors at the individual, interpersonal and organizational levels based on three major roles of academics: teaching, research, and leadership-administration (or service), culmi- nating with an original conceptual map. Finally, based on the conceptual map, we present propositions that warrant future research to advance understanding about knowledge hiding in the higher education context. Our review and conceptual map provide important implications to the knowledge management literature at large.

6 Knowledge hiding and knowledge sharing in small family farms: A stewardship view
The way knowledge hiding co-exists with knowledge sharing in organizations remains under-researched and under-theorized. We focus on family farms, a context where knowledge sharing has been previously heralded as a critical activity for business continuity. We frame our study within stewardship theory and adopt a multiple case study research design. We draw on 51 in-depth interviews from 12 rural family farms in Cyprus. Our findings illustrate that members of farming business families act as stewards and behave in ways that facilitate the sharing or hiding of business knowledge. Business families act in secrecy and exhibit behaviors that can hide business knowledge in the presence of actors who are distrusted, since they carry a risk of knowledge appropriation. Conversely, they share knowledge with individuals they trust to fill resource gaps through behaving in an open manner. Our study contributes theoretically and empirically to the fields of knowledge management and family business.

7 Impacts of leadership style, organizational design and HRM practices on knowledge hiding: The indirect roles of organizational justice and competitive work environment
In this paper, we investigate how Leadership Style, Organizational Design, and HRM practices influence Knowledge Hiding. Organizational Justice and Competitive Work Environment are additionally considered as mediating variables of these impacts. 224 professionals completed an extensive survey with questions corre- sponding to the hypothesized effects. Based on partial least squares regression to test these hypotheses, this study shows that Leadership Style and Organizational Design mitigate Knowledge Hiding only when Organizational Justice is developed. While HRM practices can also decrease the intention of employees to hide knowledge in cases with high levels of justice, they may induce such behavior in a highly competitive work environment. Hence, this research contributes to knowledge management literature by examining the joint influence on knowledge hiding of organizational factors that genuinely describe an organization’s structure and climate. From a practical standpoint, we recommend that managers establish the right balance between justice and competition to reduce knowledge hiding.

8 The dark triad and knowledge hiding
By drawing on psychological contract theory, this study examined the effects of the dark triad of personality traits (Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy) on knowledge hiding within organizations. We obtained 251 matched-pair data from respondents in a manufacturing company. Results showed that all three dimensions of the dark triad were positively related to knowledge hiding through transactional psychological contract. Different dimensions of the dark triad were most strongly related to different knowledge hiding strategies. Furthermore, gender moderated the relationships between narcissism and psychopathy with transactional psychological contract. The indirect relationships between narcissism and psychopathy with knowledge hiding via transactional psychological contract were stronger for men than women.
