1 Financing paths, firms’ governance and corporate entrepreneurship : Accessing and applying operant and operand resources in biotechnology firms
This study investigates the systemic relationship between financing paths used by early-stage biotechnology firms, the accessed resources, the subsequent reconfiguration of management and governance structures, and their effect on the level of corporate entrepreneurship. Adopting a qualitative methodology based on an inductive approach, in 2018 and 2019 we observed 12 UK biotechnology ventures that accessed private, corporate or crowdfunding equity investments. We collected primary data through open-ended and semi-structured interviews with CEOs and board members of these firms. Findings were interpreted applying a resource-based perspective, which unveiled the role and importance of operant and operand resources for organizational coordination and functioning. The way in which the controlled operant resources are used to improve the management and governance structures, and their functional interdependence, ultimately determines an optimal level of corporate entrepreneurship for effectively exploiting the accessed operand resources. The results provide useful insights regarding the systemic interdependence between financing paths, organizational resources, management team, governance bodies, and corporate entrepreneurship, that can enhance the understanding and performance of managers, shareholders and policy-makers involved in biotechnology business.

2 Micro-foundations of organizational ambidexterity in the context of cross-border mergers and acquisitions
Micro-foundational approaches can enable firms to develop organizational ambidexterity, which is critical to long-term prosperity. However, to date, few studies have examined how mergers and acquisitions (M& A)—processes reliant on knowledge transfer—provide a useful organizational context through which to understand the achievement of organizational ambidexterity. Considering organizational ambidexterity from the viewpoint of exploitative and explorative innovation, we examine how behavioral contexts (corporate entrepreneurship) and structure (integration) regulate knowledge transfer activities at the micro-foundational and firm levels within a cross-border M&A context. Analysis of 143 cross-border M&As completed by United Kingdom (UK) acquiring firms revealed that: (1) knowledge sharing between the acquirer and the acquired leads to organizational ambidexterity; (2) increased use of the acquired targets capabilities has a negative effect on organizational ambidexterity; (3) overall, capability sharing is positively related to organizational ambidexterity; (4) corporate entrepreneurship has both negative and positive moderating effects (on use of the acquired targets capabilities and capability sharing, respectively), while integration positively moderates the effects of knowledge sharing on organizational ambidexterity.

3 Market-driven entrepreneurship and institutions
This research seeks to explain how particular conditions in the external environment are associated with market- driven entrepreneurship—more specifically, startup or early-stage business activity that addresses opportunities in the market (opportunity-driven entrepreneurship), and that which offers unique and novel products or ser- vices to customers (innovative entrepreneurship). We further acknowledge that environmental conditions can also affect existing organizations, and thereby identify a third form of entrepreneurial activity: corporate en- trepreneurship. Analyses of 44 economies show that economies with basic institutional conditions (structures and rules that govern business activity), and efficiently functioning markets, have high rates of both innovative entrepreneurship and corporate entrepreneurship. However, external contexts that foster innovation are nega- tively linked to both opportunity-driven and innovative entrepreneurship, while exhibiting a positive association with corporate entrepreneurship.

4 Fostering Corporate Entrepreneurship with the use of social media tools
The strategic use of Social Media can leverage innovation, relationships with customers, and the entrepreneurial orientation of the firm, as it provides useful knowledge to find new opportunities for innovation. Despite the relevance of this phenomenon to current hyper-competitive environments, empirical research on the topic re- mains scarce. To advance knowledge of this issue, the main purpose of the paper is to examine how Social Media use impacts the different dimensions of Corporate Entrepreneurship. Building on a sample of 201 technological firms, findings confirm that the use of Social Media tools impacted all dimensions of Corporate Entrepreneurship and enhanced firm performance. This paper contributes to the literature by empirically confirming how Social Media use helps to create business value. The study results also have important implications for managers, as they show the pathway managers must follow to harness the benefits of Social Media use to become more entrepreneurial.

5 Breaking through innovation barriers: Linking effectuation orientation to innovation performance
This study aims to understand how firms overcome market-based innovation barriers and achieve innovation performance using the effectuation orientation construct. In so doing, we provide more nuanced insights into how the combination of mindsets and actions helps firms to overcome barriers. Based on a quantitative research design, data from 157 established organizations show variations in how effectual actions are related to perceived innovation barriers. Among the conclusions we draw from the results is the fact that effectual contingency and effectual means orientation are negatively associated with market-based innovation barriers, which are in turn negatively associated with a firm’s innovation performance. Overall, the empirical results provide new insights into the literature of both innovation and entrepreneurship.© 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

6 Corporate entrepreneurship, country institutions and firm financial performance
Adopting an institutional perspective, we propose that home country intellectual property (IP) and employee protection institutions moderate the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship (CE) and firm perfor- mance. Examining 9642 European firms, we find that whereas internal CE is more positively correlated with firm performance in countries with less stringent IP protection and less stringent employee protection, external CE is particularly negatively correlated with firm performance in countries with less stringent IP protection and more stringent employee protection. These results provide a richer view of the relationship between CE and firm performance than the extant entrepreneurship and international businesses literatures suggest.

7 Linking methods to outcomes: A multi-course mixed-method study of the effects of active and passive pedagogy on entrepreneurial intentions
This sequential mixed method study explores how pedagogy affects students’ entrepreneurial intentions. It outlines how positivist and constructivist educational paradigms are the basis of¼conventional and entrepreneurial pedagogy, and how these paradigms manifest themselves in entrepreneurship course learning objectives and teaching strategies. This overview engenders a novel coding scheme that supports a double-coder qualitative content analysis of seventeen entrepreneurship course syllabi, from twelve universities in eight countries. The coding results are then quantified and incorporated into a hierarchical multiple regression analysis, using data from a pre-post course student survey (N 232). Contrary to expectations, teaching strategies across the international sample remain relatively conventional, particularly assessments, even for courses that have mostly entrepreneurial course learning objectives. Furthermore, the results did not demonstrate any effect of pedagogy type on students’ entrepreneurial intentions. From all control variables, only ‘pre-course entrepreneurial intentions’ and ‘study level’ are related to (anincrease in) entrepreneurial intentions. Therefore, we recommend that universities target more mature students and do not rely on stand-alone entrepreneurship courses to instill aspirations of entrepreneurship among students. Instead, universities should strive to embed a more constructivist educational approach more widely throughout their curricula.

8 Corporate entrepreneurship education’s impact on family business sustainability: A case study in Brazil
Family businesses display distinctive characteristics as compared with non-family companies, and family firms are of great importance to the global economy, which means that more research is needed on how to promote their growth and sustainability. Despite the prevalence of family business, they still need to actively engage in corporate entrepreneurship education in order to stay competitive. This study sought to analyze the effects of corporate entrepreneurship education on a Brazilian family business and to confirm whether company’s investment in corporate entrepreneurship education has, over time, promoted competitive advantages, ensured sustain-ability, and facilitated a carefully planned succession process. The methodology was an exploratory-descriptive case study based on qualitative data based on individual’s perceptions then subjected to discourse analysis. The data were gathered from interviews with the top management of the family firm under study in order to understand their perceptions of corporate entrepreneurship education. The results reveal that the company presents the expected family business characteristics and that the firm’s investment in corporate entrepreneurship education has ensured its growth and sustainability and facilitated a smoother succession process. These findings indicate that the perception regarding investment in corporate entrepreneurship education contributing to family businesses’ sustainability is generally positive. Based on the pre- vailing theories, these firms are extremely likely to cease to exist from the third generation onward often due to successors’ lack of professional skills and the predominance of hiring based on relationships rather than qualifications. This study’s results provide empirical evidence of how investing in corporate entrepreneurship education adds value to family businesses.

9 Permission to hustle: Igniting entrepreneurship in an organization
Perceived institutional barriers, especially in existing organizations, often impede entrepreneurial action in the face of crisis and uncertainty. Understanding how collective entrepreneurial action occurs despite deeply institutionalized mindsets is important to advance entrepreneurship theory. We report on an autoethnographic account of an entrepreneurship professor and several col- leagues who gave themselves permission to hustle to overcome perceived institutional barriers to entrepreneurial action. As the findings reveal, a permission to hustle mindset provided a platform for the group of professors to act entrepreneurially in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a matter of several days, the group acted under uncertainty to create a new “idea blitz” program which attracted over 150 participants from around the world. We argue that permission to hustle is an important sense-breaking device that ignites and sustains entrepreneurial action by breaking taken-for-granted assumptions about institutionalized practices and redirecting attention toward urgent and creative action, especially in existing organizations where institutional barriers are perceived to impede such action.
