1 The big picture on the internet of things and the smart city: a review of what we know and what we need to know
This study examines how the application of the IoT in smart cities is discussed in the current academic literature. Based on bibliometric techniques, 1,802 articles were retrieved from the Scopus database and analyzed to identify the temporal nature of IoT research, the most relevant journals, authors, countries, keywords, and studies. The software tool VOSviewer was used to build the keyword co-occurrence network and to cluster the pertinent literature. Results show the significant growth of IoT research in recent years. The most productive authors, journals, and countries were also identified. The main findings from the keyword co-occurrence clustering and an in-depth qualitative analysis indicate that the IoT is used alongside other technologies including cloud computing, big data analytics, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and wireless telecommunication networks. The major applications of the IoT for smart cities include smart buildings, transportation, healthcare, smart parking, and smart grids. This review is one of the first attempts to map global IoT research in a smart city context and uses a comprehensive set of articles and bibliometric techniques to provide scholars and practitioners with an overview of what has been studied so far and to identify research gaps at the intersection of the IoT and the smart city.

2 The Interplay between the Internet of Things and agriculture: A bibliometric analysis and research agenda
The proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has fundamentally reshaped the agricultural sector. In recent years, academic research on the IoT has grown at an unprecedented pace. However, the broad picture of how this technology can benefit the agricultural sector is still missing. To close this research gap, we conduct a bibliometric study to investigate the current state of the IoT and agriculture in academic literature. Using a resource-based view (RBV), we also identify those agricultural resources that are mostly impacted by the introduction of the IoT (i.e., seeds, soil, water, fertilizers, pesticides, energy, livestock, human resources, technology infrastructure, business relations) and propose numerous themes for future research.

This study carried out a bibliometric analysis to critically review the evolution of the agri-food supply chain (AFSC) research field over the period of 2008–2019. A set of 1236 articles was analyzed from the Web of Science database. Besides using different analytical scientometric tools (topic mapping, co-citation, co-authorship and overlay visualization networks), this study identified frequently-used keywords, new and hot research topics and frequently-studied supply chain management (SCM) practices. Frequently used keywords are food supply chain, food waste, sustainability, food safety, SCM, food industry, and food security. New research themes include contract, blockchain, internet of things, resilience, and short food supply chain, a topic that demands further research especially due to the international COVID-19 pandemic and the need of farmers to be closer to the consumers. Hot research topics, that is, subjects that have been studied in highly cited papers were also identified include life cycle assessment, environmental impact, packaging, water use, food waste prevention, food waste generation, blockchain and carbon footprint. Among SCM practices, this study observed that risk and sustainable SCM are frequently used keywords. Procurement and reverse logistics were observed in fewer studies. SCM, food waste, food quality, GHG emissions and risk management are sustainable SCM practices frequently observed.

4 Innovation for sustainability in the Global South: bibliometric findings from management & business and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields in developing countries
Research on innovation and sustainability is prolific but fragmented. This study integrates the research on innovation in management and business and STEM fields for sustainability in a unified framework for the case of developing countries (i.e., the Global South). It presents and discusses the output, impact, and structure of such research based on a sample of 14,000 þ articles and conference proceedings extracted from the bibliographic database Scopus. The findings reveal research output inflections after global announcements such as UN-Earth Summits. The study also reveals the indisputable leadership of China in overall output and research agendasetting. Nonetheless, countries such as India, Mexico, and Nigeria are either more efficient or impactful. GS research published in highly reputable journals is still scarce but increasing modestly. Central topic clusters (e.g., knowledge management) remain peripheral to the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) research landscape. Finally, academic-corporate collaboration is in its infancy and limited to particular economic sectors: energy, pharmaceuticals, and high-tech.

5 Artificial intelligence applications in supply chain: A descriptive bibliometric analysis and future research directions
Today’s supply chains are very different from those of just a few years ago, and they continue to evolve within an extremely competitive economy. Dynamic supply chain processes require a technology that can cope with their increasing complexity. In recent years, several functional supply chain applications based on artificial intelligence (AI) have emerged, yet very few studies have addressed the applications of AI in supply chain processes. Machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics are all potential enablers of supply chain trans- formation. Aware of the potential advantages of AI implementation in supply chains and of the paucity of work done regarding it, we explore what researchers have done so far with respect to AI and what needs further exploration. We reviewed 136 research papers published between 1996 and 2020 from the Scopus database and provided a classification of the research material according to four critical structural dimensions (level of analytics, AI algorithms or techniques, sector or industry of application, and supply chain processes). This study is the first attempt to study the AI applications in SC from a process perspective and provides a decisional framework for adequate use of AI techniques in the different SC processes.

6 Management research topics: Positioning, evolution, alignment with teaching and with job market needs
Management education and research have at least three constituencies: faculty members, the students they teach, and the businesses that hire them. We look at how the research topics published have evolved, and whether they differ by the prestige of the publication. We then assess whether research topics align with teaching and whether research and teaching align with job market needs. This study focuses on the management sub-discipline of Operations Management (OM), where our backgrounds best allow us to interpret results. However, our approach could apply across most disciplines within management. We use bibliometric analysis to track the evolution of research keywords within academic journals. This allows us to track themes, their interaction, and whether their relative popularity varies over time and with journal prestige and ranking. Many studies have found that work published in top-tier journals tends to be more focused on theory and less applied than less elite journals. We then compare the top research topics found to syllabi from a sample of core course of firings in academic business programs to track whether these themes are being taught. We then assess how frequently these top research themes and course topics appear to be sought in the job market.

7 Digital Academic Entrepreneurship: A structured literature review and avenue for a research agenda
This paper reviews the Academic Entrepreneurship literature according to the emergence of powerful Digital technologies, providing an overview of the state of research and outlining a future research agenda about Digital Academic Entrepreneurship. One hundred and sixty-five journal papers were initially extracted from Scopus and their content was analysed for the paper selection process by two researchers in parallel, plus a third one in case of uncertainty. Finally, fifty-nine papers dealing with digital academic entrepreneurship and published in a variety of academic journals have been analyzed through a content and a bibliometric analysis. Findings show that literature on Digital Academic Entrepreneurship is really scant and dominated by unrelated research. Content analysis provides the emergence of four major research streams: 1) Digital Technologies for Entrepreneurship Education; 2) The “maker space movement” for Academic Entrepreneurship; 3) Digital tech- nologies for discovering entrepreneurial opportunities; 4) Creating entrepreneurial competences in the Digital “University-based” Entrepreneurial ecosystems. The paper presents the first attempt to provide a comprehensive structured literature review of the disruptive role of digital transformation for the Academic Entrepreneurship. Despite the growing literature on Digital Entrepreneurship, this research area is still fragmented and under- theorized. More systematic and holistic studies, considering both the technological, economic and the social aspects of Academic Entrepreneurship are required.

9 Innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge in the business scientific field: Mapping the research front
Innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge have been acknowledged as the basis of economic competiveness and growth, with recent research pointing out the powerful impact of their joint consideration. Specific literature has emerged in the last years suggesting that the three concepts constitute a promising new scholarly discipline. Nevertheless, previous bibliometric studies have highlighted that these three research fields are still mainly developing in a separate manner. The aim of this study is to analyze the current research front at the intersection of the three concepts in business research, through a bibliometric study based on performance metrics, biblio- graphic coupling and word co-occurrence analysis. This study aims to provide researchers, firms, and policy- makers with a valuable source of knowledge that allows them to define research lines, business strategies and policy measures. Innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge studies in the business area configure a promising research field at an early stage of development.
